Following widespread bipartisan criticism, President Donald Trump said Saturday his Doral resort in Florida would not host next year's Group of Seven summit of world leaders after all.

The once mighty and unrepentant USS Donald J. Trump is leaking oil and starting to list.

USS Donald J. Trump

Like USS Richard M Nixon, a ship that will never be named.

While Trump is of course blaming the media and the Democrats, I suspect that some powerful (Senate???) Republicans may have told him that this was a 'red-line-in-the-sand', past which there would be no guarantees.

Perhaps Trump will use this as an excuse to dump Mulvaney, claiming that he was never authorized to say that Trump had already decided to hold the next G7 meeting at his Doral golf club, that it was only something that had been discussed and besides, the idea had been discarded some time ago. And like Mulvaney's alleged admission of there having been a quid pro quo with respect to the Ukrainian deal, another totally misconstrued statement, an executive order has been signed by President Donald Trump which officially declares that Mick Mulvaney has never spoken to the media from the White House briefing room, despite the rumored existence of a suspect video tape that some have claimed to show otherwise, but which has not yet been examined by a forensic team lead by Rudy Giuliani and assisted by Attorney General Bill Barr.

@#2 ... Perhaps they haven't gotten those bedbugs under control yet. ...

There's that too.

The use of the resort was proposed by the owner of the resort, Pres Trump. That alone raised a huge red flag by me.

The Trump admin then said that they had vetted many other places to hold G7, and the Trump Doral resort was the best. (probably the best from the profiting of his business viewpoint)

When asked what other places were vetted, there were crickets.

The vetting process, if it existed at all, must have been very superficial because the Mayor of Doral didn't even know about Pres Trump's selection of his resort until he (the Mayor) heard about it on the news.

Now that Pres Trump has backed down from something he thought was "doing very good," i.e., holding the summit on his own resort, the Trump administration says that they now will have to look for a place to hold G7.

Wait, what?

Didn't the Trump administration just say that many places already vetted? Were they lying about that, and they really selected Doral only because Pres Trump wanted G7 to be held there to prop up his struggling resort?

It's almost as if this was a distraction all along, and it's served its purpose...

That's a lame, lazy, worn out excuse.

Even if it were (and I doubt is was), it would not have been a very wise distraction, as it could add another Article of Impeachment.

Cool, the POTUS dumps a 5 star Resort in favor of an out dated, run-down, ex-Hunting lodge, to host the G-7 in. Sweet, way to show off the US to the world, if the cameras can even get in.

Sweet, way to show off the US to the world,

You must believe they're shooting a travelogue.

The point of this summit isn't to show off the US to the world.

But. You're an idiot. So. I'll cut you some slack.

Trump has embarrassed our nation so badly, it is fantastic that he could use the G7 to embarass us further. Trump needs to finally be embarrassed personally, he needs to be seen as losing. He is right now and I like it.

The last time the G-7 (only it was still the G-8 back then, despite the fact that Vladimir Putin had declined to attend) was held in the United States, in May of 2012, it was held at, wait for it, Camp David.
