Earlier this week, the conservative Daily Caller website asked the offices of each of the 53 Republican senators whether they opposed the impeachment and removal of President Donald Trump. Just seven of them said yes.

(It's worth noting here that the criteria the Caller used for deciding who officially opposed impeachment and removal is relatively subjective. They say "seven senators explicitly rejected impeachment in their statement" but, for example, Portman's spokeswoman said this: "As he has said many times, Rob does not support the House Democrats' impeachment inquiry." Which isn't necessarily the same thing as opposing the impeachment and removal of Trump.)

The right wing is having a fit trying to get Speaker Pelosi to pull the trigger on impeachment.

I'm sure Ms. Pelosi is looking at it as her version of a SCOTUS nomination to ignore. It's kinda funny. I bet she's advisin' and consentin' just as fast as she can.

I have been saying this since April, give the GOP Senators a solid case for removal and they will send Mitt in to tell Donnie Little Hands..."Mr. President, you have lost the support of your party."

The gop needs a sure thing on impeachment

They're more interested in their own careers anyway and a failed attempt could be the end of their careers.

"Mr. President, you have lost the support of your party."

As if donald will give a ----. How will they vote when he doesn't quit?

give the GOP Senators a solid case for removal

Blackmailing an ally with Congressionally approved foreign aid money to concoct a false story about Biden isn't enough?

You have two dozen GOP house members crashing a committee meeting in a secured room, and you think the party is ready to tip if only a good case can be presented?

Pffft. Please.

Pelosi is slowing the pace so that their decisions will be closer to the primaries when they are at risk of losing their nominations if they choose wrong on impeachment so most are hedging their bets right now.

Impeachment is a gift from Heaven for the GOP. It's their escape hatch. A single vote in the Senate and it's over and done. A full year without Trump before the 2020 elections might mean salvation.
