Couple of comments (based solely on mt viewing of the video)...

First, I do not think it is correct to characterize her as "fat."

Second, imo ... McDonald's has a costly problem on their hands. Yeah, she should not have thrown the food to try to get the attention of someone, but an employee throwing a kitchen appliance at her is so wrong. So costly wrong.

imo, of course.

Wonder how man people here are going to side with the douche bag manager, who ought to be fired and pay for her medical bills.

"people working a dead end job for minimim wage"

News flash, genius, managers get more than minimum wage.

I have to side with the mother here.

The video shows Price come inside the restaurant with what she said was a messed-up order.

She waited and waited for it to be fixed, while four children were sitting in her car. Price can be seen on video refilling their drinks to kill time.

As she waited, other customers came and went.

"I wasn't the only one that got frustrated, you know, watching the video we see a lot of people that see me and her talking, trying to resolve the issue and they're, like, 'I'm not dealing with this,' you know. They just left. They didn't even place their order," she said.

The time code of the video shows after waiting about 23 minutes, Price goes to the car to grab the rest of her order to ask for a refund.

"It's like, you're directly ignoring me, so what choice do I have? I don't have to put up with this. So, I went and got the food, I want my money back and that's kind of where it all goes from there," she said.

The video shows about 25 minutes after she first entered the store, Price throws multiple bags of food at the manager.

The manager apparently throws a blender at Price, and it ricochets off her face, knocking her to the ground.

You want zero unemployment, then you're going to have folks who should never be employed, doing jobs they are not suited to. Shattering this mother's cheek is something that should send this employee to jail and the restaurant should pay her for her pain.

25 min wait?

Wow that is insane I don't have that kind of patience. Depending on the issue I would have just left or I would have been raising holy hell way before that. I don't think I would throw food at the manager but after waiting that long and basically being ignored, not sure how I would react.

That manager sure as shooting better be fired, jailed for assault possibly. I mean I've worked some crap jobs and put up with some god awful customers but service is your main responsibility and ignoring the customer is what allowed this situation to devolve to this point.

I've jnown "managers" that made a whole dollar above minimum wage and were expected to let customers ---- on them all day long.

Woman picked a fight and went down hard.

No criminal charges have been filed. A fast food manager could rob a customer at gun point, and the customer would be ridiculed and admonished for calling 911.

Trolling hard today, are we?

@#6 ... Woman picked a fight and went down hard. ...

I agree that the customer should not have thrown the [soft] food, and I said as much in #2.

However, an employee is an employee of the company, and a representative of that company. The employee loses the "employee the individual" status and gains "employee the company representative" when the employee clocks in for the work shift.

So then the question becomes, where did the employer's hiring practices or training fail to prevent that employee from throwing a kitchen appliance at the customer?

imo, of course.

This is how crazy HR seminars are made ...

In Cali we have to spend at least 4hrs every two years in SexualHarrasment training which actually makes people worse.

Now you asking them to add an hour to two about things you can and can't throw at ------- customers.

McDonalds should cover this employee no matter what happens. You come into McD's disrespectful to our employees, expect a spatula to the face ....

It only goes downhill if they don't.

I agree the company was right to let the manager go and that the police were right to not press charges against the manager.

Only thing in the whole story I really enjoy is the look on her face when she realizes that the manager is not going to let her have carte blanche.

You have to see the long version of the footage to appreciate it.

I've been in a few confrontations about terrible service at fast food restaurants, I just tell them, "keep doing what you're doing, this is the perfect career for you." and then walk out.

Wow, just friggin' wow.

No one is asking HR to add anything to their employee training sessions.

But I have to ask...

Are you really saying that employers have no concern with employees throwing kitchen appliances at customers?

That is what happened.

You seem to be saying it is OK for employees to throw kitchen appliances at customers.

And your reasoning is --- you do not want to sit through a HR session where you are told it is not appropriate to throw things at customers.

Do I understand your position correctly?

Commercial appliance vs consumer appliance.

Hmmmm.

Maybe, maybe not.

For those who are confused the manager who has now been fired matches the same basic physical description as the customer.

The customer just has a lot of nerve to treat working Americans in such a manner.

@#21 ... The customer just has a lot of nerve to treat working Americans in such a manner. ...

I do agree that a customer should not throw [soft] food at an employee. Period. Full Stop.

OK, now that we have that in the bin...

I will proffer that the store manager reacted poorly (understatement).

Simply stated, throwing a [hard] kitchen appliance at a customer is not A Good Thing.

No matter how much you try to justify it as "OK," it is not "OK."

It is just wrong.

If I had to resolve this situation, one of the first questions I would as is -- why was this customer was ignored for so long.

That, imo, is the root problem here.

Why was this customer ignored?

That appears to be the root problem that needs to be resolved.

Not surprising that a lot of degenerates online are praising the employee who threw the blender and saying the customer deserved it. They're like gutter rats who enjoy watching and egging on a ghetto fight, the same type of people who watch Jerry Springer.

#23 | Posted by sentinel at 2019-10-25 12:48 AM | Reply

So the manager isn't allowed to "stand your ground"? Maybe they felt threatened by the objects flying at them? In a ---- hole state the manager would have been able to shoot the customer.

I think the manager should definitely be fired. You don't want someone who makes a poor decision like that working for you. But the customer initiated the "violence" of the confrontation (by throwing the food). So I think you would be on shaky ground trying to file charges against the employee.

If you spend money you don't have, to save a few minutes you don't have, to feed your children, and the place who promised you food gives you a blender to the face, then I am siding with the woman. Maybe this was a big family event for her. What do the employees expect the customers to do? Some of them are going to be on their last thread.

But lets not act as if the lady trying to be all "poor me" isn't guilty of acting like an idiot here.

"But lets not act as if the lady trying to be all "poor me" isn't guilty of acting like an idiot here."

Her behavior was inappropriate, but understandable given the context of her being treated like crap by the business for almost half an hour. When it became obvious she was being deliberately ignored, she should have walked away and called the corporate headquarters, or even the non-emergency police number to make a theft complaint against the business (if that's even allowed anymore). But some people don't know how to do either of those things, unfortunately.

I was being slightly sarcastic with my comment, since people have thrown the same accusation at me on this forum even when I wasn't equating two things. And also, there are people here who clearly think throwing a paper bag full of flimsy fast food justifies a blender to the head. Like the now former McDonald's employee, they share the same mentality of some of the characters on Orange is the New Black.

No it was not... they only ignored her. You sound like a conservative.

Violence (even just throwing a "soft" box of food) is never an acceptable response to someone ignoring you. Honestly, SHE should be charged with assault and thrown in jail. I don't care how annoyed you are. You don't get to attack someone just because your little snowflake feelings are hurt.

The employee should be fired for the disproportionate response, and that they should not be RESPONDING to violence with more violence (unless they or other patrons are actually in danger). And, more importantly, they should not have let the situation get to this point in the first place. But, it is pretty clear the employee was the one being attacked and they were responding to that attack. Could they have made better choices in that response? Yes. But people commonly don't make ideal split-second decisions. And I think it is unfair to second-guess those split-second decisions from the unrushed comfort of your armchair.

"Woman picked a fight and went down hard."

You're showing zero empathy for the working class individual being screwed over by the big business, and you're claiming I'm the one who sounds like a "conservative"? *snerk*

I'd be fine with the customer in this case being cited for a misdemeanor as long the employee is charged with a felony. Or the latter receiving a lesser charge and the former not being charged at all. But it sounds like you're saying only the first woman should be charged, no matter how disproportionate the response was.

Did anyone actually click on the article and watch the video? Seems like some didn't bother before commenting.

The woman got her order in the drive thru. The order was wrong. She had 4 kids in the car and had waited 25 minutes for the order to be corrected. The manager ignored her. The customer killed time refilling drinks, standing around, going outside to check on her kids, etc.

I can understand the customer's frustration. The manager was an azshole who ignored her. Glad she's out of a job, and hope she's charged with assault.

It could be that the people who enjoy this video don't all have a privileged background and have been subjected to mistreatment by customers.

It's also worth noting that the employees had no way of knowing what was in the bags and wrappers and that the ratchet customer was clearly building towards a hands on physical assault.

Only way to make this the perfect story is if the store manager was white and a part time cop with a gun and and and...

did it on the orders of Trump.

The black lady was totally stupid... she got up right away to fight the manager...

A white person would have stayed down on the floor, roll up her eyes and moaned slightly while rocking a few times and then play dead. Only to come back alive again after the paramedics arrived... She'll be counting her millions Micky D's will have to pay her on the ride to the hospital.

The black women, on the other hand, will get NOTHING...

She left 4 children in her car.

I don't care if she could see the car from inside the restaurant.

This is endangerment of four children.

A number of things could have happened from minor to major catastrophe.

The manager should be charged but the mother should too. Bring the kids in with you...never leave them in a car unattended.
