NYACK, N.Y. - Bed Bath & Beyond has pulled some of its jack-o'-lanterns after getting complaints that they resemble blackface, according to one local report. News 12 reported community members in Nyack, New York, noticed three jack-o'-lanterns outside the offices of Feerick Nugent MacCartney Attorneys At Law in New York. The pumpkins were painted black and had faces on them drawn in chalk.

Cancel Halloween. It's what the Grinch would do.

In many (primarily Southern) States, Public school systems have already totally banned Halloween celebrations, and replaced them with "Fall Festival".

No costumes, no trick-or-treat, just pretty leaves and ears of corn and such.

The local Christians could simply not allow the children to dress like Harry Potter, and lions and Princesses, and Batman, and Elsa, and a pirate and, well here: www.usatoday.com

Those Tali-Baptists found it an affront to their religion, and banned it. It was the Tali-baptists who stole Halloween, not the Grinch.

Not much different than taliban types trying to ban Valentine's Day.

America is over 240 years old... which means it has a strong legal tradition. If not for that, tali-baptist types would be bombing abortion clinics and pulling girls out of school, just like their afghan cousins.

They've mellowed out since their peak, but traditionally they'll either just run in and shoot a doctor, run in and just vandalize the place, sometimes in groups, or try to burn it down. The arson attempts are rarely successful. One guy managed to burn part of a clinic that didn't even perform abortions, but it opened back up 6 months later.

and like violent crime, the rate of nuts shooting abortion doctors is way down in the last 20 years.

Nice whataboutism, team. Take a thread about SJW's being offended by a black pumpkin and hijack it by complaining about the religious right. Maybe you could take one of those pumpkins and make a head for your strawman?

I think this spreads the righteous outrage out too thin and dilutes the brand but I'm not black so...

It figures that OWS would try to blame the religious right for a SJW freak-out.

Now now, I wouldn't accuse OWS I'm blaming the religious right for this issue.

And to be honest what he posted is fair game.

There are loons everywhere

I painted your truck.

pretty major change to the truck.

I took your F-350 and turned it irrevocably into a Ford Fiesta.

A virtually irreversible change to the vehicle.

See the difference now?

Circumcision is without a doubt a major alteration, but it pales in comparison against changing a childs gender.

Let's see what Snoofy twists this into, or if agrees that there is a difference here.

so 10 was posted to a completely different thread, yet appears here. Two tab bug?

What's the bigger deal? Banning Halloween celebrations altogether or pulling some stupid product at Bed Bath & Beyond? Nobody's going to miss blackface jack-o'-lanterns.

That's the point, they're not blackface

Ban Halloween?

I guess it would be OK because it's a "white" holiday?

I hope that that the dude who complained is one day fortunate enough to experience his balls dropping...but I don't see it in the tea leaves.

Sure wish I had known that before I had spent the last 2 weeks building, painting and delivering Halloween decorations to my wife's public school across the street from the Baptist Church here in Louisiana.
