They aren't going anywhere until he appeals it to the SCOTUS.

Of course, there's no assurance that the US Supreme Court will even consider looking at this case. If the court chooses to not get involved, that could signal the end of the Trump presidency as we know it.

From the opinion,

We emphasize again the narrowness of the issue before us. This appeal does not require us to consider whether the President is immune from indictment and prosecution while in office, nor to consider whether the President may lawfully be ordered to produce documents for use in a state criminal proceeding. We accordingly do not address those issues. The only question before us is whether a state may lawfully demand production by a third party of the President's personal financial records for use in a grand jury investigation while the President is in office. With the benefit of the district court's wellarticulated opinion, we hold that any presidential immunity from state criminal process does not bar the enforcement of such a subpoena.
Iirc, there is an agreement between the parties that the Buffoon has ten days to seek relief in the SC.

Or just the end, period.

We've got a full year before the next election. Plenty of time.

Incredibly embarrassing if this isn't 9-0 at SCOTUS

#7 | Posted by JOE at 2019-11-04 01:55 PM | Reply

Rs have a majority on SCOTUS so it'll probably be a 5-4 ruling in favor of Orange Agent.

#8 | Posted by SomebodyElse at 2019-11-04 02:03 PM | Reply

Trump would "love to release" his returns. Right, Trumpets?

#9 | Posted by Derek_Wildstar at 2019-11-04 02:12 PM | Reply

#8 Thing is, this isn't your average case where there are valid, reasonably arguable applications of precedent on either side. It would take a truly shameless person acting against longstanding precedent solely in service of Trump to overrule the 2nd Circuit here.

So, 5-4 against Trump probably.

IMO, having read both opinions, I doubt SCOTUS will grant cert on this.

IMO Trump is a liar and a thief. But then again, in your heart of hearts, every single one of you also believe that as well.

I haven't watched conservative propaganda stations for a few weeks now. What is the right-wing explanation for him withholding his tax returns this week?

Please help those of us who live in reality to understand the reason our POTUS refuses to release his tax returns, because from over here, it seems like he is hiding something.

#13 | Posted by chuffy at 2019-11-04 03:19 PM | Reply

What does Trump have to hide? After all, he did say hed show the public his tax returns.

Hes either broke, shady or both. But there is a big reason hes digging his heels in for sure. For me it would cement my guess about his finances in the past - for his supporters, it really wouldnt mean anything.

In another clever attempt to circumvent the eventual release of his tax returns, President For Life and Florida Man Trump will agree to release ten years of his returns, specifically schedules EIC, F, H, J, R and 8812...

and you just know he will appeal every court decision...

to run out the clock...

It was a Federal Appeals Court that ruled.
The WH has already said they're appealing to SCOTUS.
SCOTUS won't take it.
The ruling will stand.

The Supreme Court will be putting a lump of coal in Trump's stocking this Christmas.

If it gets reviewed by SCOTUS, the judge overseeing the tax return case would be RBG. If they do take it up, it will be rushed through. We'll know by Christmas.

We could just avoid all the drama by the Orange POTUS releasing the returns. I hear they're beautiful, perfect returns.

There are only two more places to appeal it: Circuit Court En Banc and Supreme Court.

I don't think the Circuit will hear it En Banc. And I have a hunch the Supreme Court will refuse to hear the appeal.

Try to keep up. The Buffoon has agreed to file a cert. petition in the SC by the 14th and seek expedited review. www.law.com

Given the narrowness of the ruling the likelihood the Court will take the case is slim. Unless, of course, there are four votes to consider the Bufoon's unprecedented position that he could not be investigated if he shot someone on 5th Avenue. I don't seeing that either, I doubt he could even get Kavanaugh on that one.
