Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Tuesday, November 05, 2019

Thousands of the world's greatest scientists have joined together to declare that 'untold human suffering' is unavoidable without deep and lasting shifts in human activities. An alliance of more than 11,000 scientists signed the paper which declared the climate emergency before providing a set of effective actions humans could take. To limit the damage caused by humans' greenhouse gas emissions the paper calls for more control over the massively booming global population, currently increasing by over 200,000 people a day.

Dr. Paul Ehrlich and Obama's "science czar" John Holdren have been saying the same thing for decades.

How's about controlling the for profit polluting industries that fight advances in clean tech tooth and nail first?

There is plenty of room for people; cue West Texas... if they exist with non-polluting tech.

Those "for profit polluting industries" make the products "clean tech" is made out of.

No soup for Corky. Didn't you hear that little girl? Fairy tales of unlimited economic growth!

I'm 100% in favor of curbing the population.

China had the right idea. One child per family. Two if you were wealthy.

The problem was the fffking Chinese murdered all their daughters.

Regardless. Nothing will change. Sex is the best and contraception is against God's will.

Be fruitful and multiply.

#5 & #6... like talking to a brick wall

I reference polluting industries, not clean industries, and West Texas, no comma... and they struggle to grasp the point.

In some countries, like Japan, the native population is actually shrinking. Causing all sorts of societal and economic issues.

So why are you liberals talking to the western world? This message should be aimed at China and India, you know, the countries who have 1/3 of earth's population..

But it's the same with plastic pollution, you would rather yell at America who is only .02% responsible for the plastics in the ocean rather than try to talk to India, Pakistan or China who are responsible for 80% of the plastic problem because THEY wont listen to you...

They are talking to and about the whole world. Nobody's saying anything about just yelling at America.

Yeah, there are a lot of crazy ideas about mitigating the effects of climate change because of two main reasons that I see:

(1) we, politically, have bought so deeply into the disinformation campaign proffered by the energy companies, that we are afraid to confront what is happening.

(2) because of (1), each passing year adds to the problem that must be solved, and as the problem grows larger, the solutions grow more extreme.

I took note of an article posted here by one of the climate change deniers on this thread. The article criticized the extreme solutions to climate change. But the alias posting it failed to note that the article did acknowledge the reality of climate change.

So yeah, it is easy to highlight the crazy stuff regarding climate change.

But the question remains, what are we going to do to mitigate the effects of what we have been doing to the Blue Marble we live upon?

You are here...

Too much of anything is no good.

Too much sugar.

Too much food.

Population is no different.

The natural population controls of food production, predators and disease have been minimized by technology but it can only go so far. Natural resources including water will run out. Our over consumption will doom us.

We obviously need to get rid of scientists. Science is the cause of much of the world's misery.

Nothing new, has been done before: 'The Population Bomb [1968] en.wikipedia.org

"It predicted worldwide famine in the 1970s and 1980s due to overpopulation, as well as other major societal upheavals, and advocated immediate action to limit population growth. Fears of a "population explosion" were widespread in the 1950s and 1960s, but the book and its author brought the idea to an even wider audience.[3][4][5]

The book has been criticized since its publishing for its alarmist tone, and in recent decades for its inaccurate predictions. The Ehrlichs stand by the basic ideas in the book, stating in 2009 that "perhaps the most serious flaw in The Bomb was that it was much too optimistic about the future" and believe that it achieved their goals because "it alerted people to the importance of environmental issues and brought human numbers into the debate on the human future."

The problem with population control is that all of the wealth redistribution programs that lefties love require the population to rise in order to have funding for the recipients.
