Republicans have for weeks blasted the closed-door impeachment process, but transcripts released this week of private depositions show most GOP lawmakers on the three panels at the center of the probe have simply not shown up.

Their minds are made up. Why should they bother to show up for any hearings? Facts would just confuse them.

They can't bitch about not being included if they show up.

Lindsay Graham is now saying he won't read any of the evidence...his mind is made up and he is refusing to do his job after wanting to convict Clinton over a -------.

If they don't show up for work, then they shouldn't get paid.
End of story.

Showing up for hearings and testimony is so boring. It is much more fun to be drama queens on television and bitch about being excluded from meetings that they CHOSE to not attend.

They have nothing.

Fat Nixon finally got his ---- in a wringer that he cannot weasel or buy his way out of.

They can't refute the facts, so they attack the process that they CHOSE not to be part of as "excludding" them.

"Lindsay Graham is now saying he won't read any of the evidence..."

That's because he's on record if you showed him a QPQ, that would be serious. Reading the evidence would be ample proof.

"Their minds are made up. Why should they bother to show up for any hearings? Facts would just confuse them."

Same exact statement can be made for Dems, except the middle would say "They are all showing up for the hearings". But the minds are made up and the facts would confuse them apply just as much to Dems and there is ample, inarguable evidence that proves it.

To look at this objectively, I started thinking about what would Dems say if the situation were reversed. The most applicable is, "Well, they are actually in other places spending their time doing what they are supposed to be doing instead of wasting time that doesn't help the country".

#8 | Posted by humtake at 2019-11-06 12:03 PM | Reply | Funny: 5

Since most Republicans have already made up their minds, they'll use this time to do other things. Keep your eyes open folks. The circus of these hearings is going to provide cover for a lot of other nefarious activity.

"They can't refute the facts, so they attack the process that they CHOSE not to be part of as "excludding" them."

This is the most hilarious statement coming from Liberals. So, they can't refute facts? Last I saw, Trump won the Presidency as a fact based on our voting system yet Liberals everywhere still to this day say he's not their President. But now that you have him somewhere you want him, all of a sudden he's the President. Partisan haters sound like the least intelligent people in the country and that's compared to even the most mentally-challenged person who actually has a valid reason for a low intelligence.

I agree that some Dems would act similarly. But don't think it would be a totality. I do not believe that Dems are the lock-steppers that Republicans are.

Congressional oversight of a corrupt POTUS is what they should be doing and it does benefit the country.

You're attempts at "objectivity" are pretty funny, though.

Yes, yes. Trump won in 2016. He has the title President. He's not my president because he doesn't act like one. He doesn't act like one because his loyalties are to himself and a certain foreign nation.

If Donald would behave better he'd get more respect. But he has to behave because frankly simply demanding respect doesn't cut it for any real American. Screw him.

Donald Trump has no moral authority to lead. None. There's no reason to respect him as a man. That some people fail to understand how this gets in the way of being a leader astounds.

I'll make a prediction, the House Democrats will take over six months to draft articles of Impeachment before they deliver it to the Senate. The Senate will have their show trial and declare Trump not guilty within a month. The vast majority of voters will see the Jackass party as a waste of time and Pelosi will have a perfect record, losing the majority within one congressional term. Tip O'Neil she isn't. She is a leader who leads her party to defeat, every time.

If the Republican Senate acquits Trump despite clear and plentiful evidence of wrongdoing both Donald and they will be wounded and wounded badly going into the 2020 elections.

This Revolution will be televised. People are going to be entertained, amazed, and disgusted.

I guess you can continue to hope that only Democrats get burned.

#19 | Posted by Zed at 2019-11-06 12:33 PM | Reply | Newsworthy 1

IMO, saying, "Not my president," means something different than "I don't like him, so I'm disavowing his legitimacy." We liberals came to terms with 2016 in real time, but we knew something was amiss, and just about everything we knew and claimed has been playing out, again in real time, just like we said it would.

Every single Drumpf supporter has clung to their fantasy world, and we knew that even those who said they'd drop their support of him if evidence came out were liars and traitors, way back when.

Saying, "Not my president," is actually representative of DJT's actions - he has done almost nothing for us Americans. He has reversed the will of the people, and has enriched himself illegally, siding with hostile foreign powers against the interests of the USA. He is a traitor, and the evidence of that is completely clear. Almost everything he has done has been for his own benefit, or that of Russia - that's not opinion, it's fact. But facts don't matter to Republicans. However you wake up in the morning and deny reality, you can't escape the truth, and the truth is that Hair Furor is a criminal, a traitor and an incompetent failure of a human being. If you continue to support him, you are also a traitor. We are not going to forget that.

Reading the results of the recent Kentucky election, which the Republican incumbent deliberately framed as a referendum on Trump....Many rural counties that could have put if across for Donald turned on him.

I think that means exactly what it seems to mean.

DJT is the first president in modern history to NEVER exceed a 50% approval rating. That's not only a first, but perhaps his greatest achievement.

I keep hearing this sentiment, but it rings hollow. Sounds like an attempt at self-fulfilling prophecy.

People crowed about impeachment being bad for Democrats, good for Drumpf. How impeachment was wildly unpopular, and a mistake. Now we're at a little over 50% in favor of impeachment AND replacement, and we're only what, 4-5 weeks in?

I'm pretty sure there are going to be a LOT of rats jumping off the Drumpf ship. 2018 went blue bigly. Last night went blue bigly. Of course 2020 is going to be all about the dominance of Republicans, lol.

He'll be lucky to serve out his first term, and Pence is right there with him.

Says Mr. Benghaziiiiiii, LOL.

They bother with hearings because the guy you support is guilty of bribery, abuse of power, extortion and the emoluments clause, among other things. Just because you repeat the lies doesn't make them true. Hearings are a good way of calling out Republican bulls--t. We get to watch it on TV next week. One side will be holding impeachment hearings and the other side will be hosting a clown show. You will, of course, be part of the clown show.

Well we actually know what the dems would do if the situation was reversed because when the GOP controlled the house and conducted their own investigations into the Obama administration, Benghazi, and Trump/Russia the Dems didn't opt to sit it out while attacking the process for not being included. Yes, they did have criticisms of the process but they actually attended the hearings, participated in the process and helped produce findings of fact. So far all the GOP has done is ignore the White House attempts to undermine the authority of Congress by ignoring requests for documents and subpoenas while they sit around and complain that it is unfair that the House rules that the Republicans established.

I called for impeachment regardless of how it would impact Democrats in 2020. That doesn't matter to me relative to the ---- stain's potential criminal behavior.

And it's not hollow at all. Only once in the past 40 years has an incumbent POTUS not been reelected. It'll take a lot to overcome that precedent.

No incumbent president in the last 40 years has ever faced impeachment during their first term. No incumbent president in the past 40 years, like I said, has failed to achieve greater than 50% approval at any point in their presidency. No incumbent president has openly solicited foreign intervention in our elections. No incumbent president had the benefit of what amounts to State Media.

A lot of this is unpresidented.

Trump cult member doesn't want the nation to hear about trump's crimes. Shocker.

This isn't about convicting trump. His cult knows he's a crook and doesn't care so they'll never remove him. This is about showing the nation what republicans have become and hoping the country still has enough brains and patriotism to oust your entire cult in 2020.

But I can see why you'd not want that to happen.

That wasn't a crime.

His greatest crime (that we know about) is blackmailing a foreign nation to help him in an election.

His other crimes include illegal payoffs to a pornstar about an affair, obstructing justice, and violating the emoluments clause. Yet for some reason you dont seem bothered by any of that. You're too busy being "nonpartisan" and attacking dems for trying to hold him accountable.
