Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Democrats' claim of victory Tuesday in Kentucky's gubernatorial race, as well as the Democratic takeover of the Virginia state legislature, left Republicans stumbling and increasingly uncertain about their own political fates next year tied to an embattled and unpopular president. Many allies of President Trump rushed to explain away the poor performance of incumbent Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin (R) as an anomaly, while other GOP veterans expressed alarm about the party's failure in a state where Trump won by nearly 30 percentage points in 2016 -- and where he just campaigned this week.

On Monday night -- less than 12â¯hours before the polls opened -- Trump appeared at a rally in Lexington, Ky., to support Bevin but also made sure the crowd knew his own reputation was on the line.

"If you lose, they will say Trump suffered the greatest defeat in the history of the world," said Trump, pointing at a bank of news cameras. "You can't let that happen to me, and you can't let that happen to your incredible state."

Isn't Trump now saying that he planned it all this way? Or am I time-traveling in tomorrow?

The GOP controlled KY Senate has said that they are looking at "selecting" the governor because the will of the people.

"Kentucky Senate President Robert Stivers threw another wrench into the state's razor-thin gubernatorial outcome late Tuesday night, saying that the legislature could decide the race."

Yes, it does seem that Kentucky Republicans are at least making noises about stealing this election back because, get this, the people who voted for the Libertarian should have voted for the GOP.

Pennsylvania had a moment as well...

Democrats make history by winning control of Delaware County
www.inquirer.com

...

In a victory certain to reverberate across Pennsylvania's political landscape, Democrats on Tuesday gained control of the Delaware County Council, the controlling body of the historically red Philadelphia suburb.

Tuesday's race was the first time in generations that Democrats presented a real challenge to the Republican machine that has ruled the county since before the Civil War. Buoyed by a general anti-Trump sentiment and encouraged by the historic win of two seats on the council in 2017, Democrats anticipated an easy victory.

That can be a headline to a different story.

Trump won this state by 30 points in 2016. KY has a Democrat governor now, even after Trump held one of his hillbilly hootenannies in Lexington on Monday.

Clearly, the GOP-controlled KY Senate will decide some voters wanted it so much it overrides the vote counts.

Well... if you understand that the Idiocracy (rural) voters' votes should be worth more than productive members of society, then it makes sense.

Talk about embarrassing: Around the time Beshear was being declared the winner, a Bevin appointee, Trump supporter and perennial anti-gay candidate named Alyssa McDowell made an unauthorized appearance at the podium of the GOP gathering and announced that Bevin had won:

You can't make this sheet up.

Stivers said he thought Bevin's speech declining to concede to Beshear was "appropriate." He said believes most of the votes that went to Libertarian John Hicks, who received about 2% of the total vote, would have gone to Bevin and made him the clear winner.

Now conservatives out there how about we apply this to the 2016 Presidential elections? I mean it's clear to me all those people that voted 3rd party would have gone to Hillary... Yes that's a moronic statement just like this Rethuglican's. Where's the outrage at this ignoramus?

It's a tight race. The "governor" lost by 5000 votes in a state trump carried by I think the figure was 30 points... I know it wasn't a statement on Trump as much as the governor sucks but he lost - live with it.

Not sure whether that more funny or depressing.

But the truth is. I'm sure if they could of. They would have pretended Bevin won and just ran with it.

They have every intention of doing that.

My guess is there's a better than 50/50 chance that Bevin is governor come January.

The current governor, Matt Bevin, is saying that the election was rigged and the only FAIR way to settle this is to turn it over to the Republican dominated state legislature and let them pick a winner.

A top Republican suggested the legislature could decide the outcome after Gov. Matt Bevin disputed Democrat Andy Beshear's apparent victory.

If you win, they are going to make it like, ho hum. And if you lose, they are going to say Trump suffered the greatest defeat in the history of the world. You can't let that happen to me!""

"If you lose, they will say Trump suffered the greatest defeat in the history of the world," said Trump

You did, dotard. In a state you won by 30 points in 2016 you couldn't pull Bevin across the finish line.

#23 | Posted by AMERICANUNITY at 2019-11-07 12:55 AM | Reply

If the Republicans follow through and steal this election they will never win another election in that state. The voters do not like to be ignored, they chose who they wanted for Governor and now the Republicans, for their own good, need to respect the voters. If they do steal it, it is going to have national consequences. The Republican Party is about two steps from just being considered as the crooks they are by most people in this country.

Bevin made a lot of enemies in his short tenure. A lot of republicans and independents voted for Beshear. Bevin was seen as a radical rightwinger, while Beshear is a moderate which appeals to the majority of Kentuckians.

Poor Humpy!

Bernie will have a wonderful future ahead of him. As long as he doesn't have a heart attack and die.

Trump will wish he could have a heart attack and die. Before this is over. He will be in court forever. And will end up like old Tricky Dick. List and forgotten on the ash heap of history. Like so many turds before him.

Ya'll wanted it. Ya'll earned it.

Enjoy the ---- Show.

History will not be kind. To your kind.
