On Tuesday, Virginia Democrats retook control of the state House and state Senate -- giving the party total control of the legislature and the governor's mansion for the first time in nearly three decades.

"They struggled to separate themselves from the unpopular president and to take moderate positions on gun control and a Medicaid expansion after years of voting against them in the General Assembly."

IOW, they struggled with their voting record. Thanks, Framers!

My understanding is Virginia also had its gerrymandering tossed out. I think last election Dems won the popular vote by 10 points (10% more voted for Dem candidates than Repubs) but Republicans still maintained a majority of elected legislators because of the gerrymandered districts.

Now, without the gerrymandering, it looks like the Dems clean up.

What happened in suburban Philly was equally awesome. "Bloodletting."

I'm sure this is all excellent news for Repubicans, though. It always is. Nothing to see here.

And this is why people lose. Voters don't want and will not turn our for RINOs anymore. They will turn out for Trump and those supporting his policies. The more GOP that run as Dem-lites, the more they will lose.

So Trump isn't a RINO? Trump is a true conservative? LOL

@#5 ... Voters don't want and will not turn our for RINOs anymore. They will turn out for Trump and those supporting his policies. ...

The ex-Republican Governor of Kentucky was anything but a RINO.

He was a full-throated supporter of Pres Trump.

Which may be why your comment is trying to make it seem otherwise.

Liberals just keep getting more ridiculous by ignoring history and reality. Guess what, Reps took control of some some places too. Should the Dems be scared? Of course not because, guess what? It will change next voter season. And the one after that. And the one after that. Why ignore reality just to try to turn more people into hate-filled zombies of either side?

This is a thread about Virginia. The White House is in DC.

It should, but for reasons unrelated. Democrats just went full blue in a state where the blue governor is a blackface wearing dude known as Coonman", and the lieutenant governor has been accused of two rapes the state assembly opted to ignore.

When blue voters throw women and people of color under the bus in a ballot tantrum, no red stater is safe from being voted out.

#14 Blue and red don't bother me. I'm libertarian - I think both sides are full of s/t. I just stand in disbelief; not that the gov and lieutenant gov weathered the storm, but that there was no storm. If they had been Repubs, there would still be 1000 screaming protesters in pink ----- hats camped on their front lawns.

What's the Libertarian position on blackface, Mustang?

I can't imagine a Libertarian caring.

#16 | Posted by snoofy at 2019-11-07 03:43 PM | Reply

Actually, I don't care much. We all did stupid crap when we were kids. What bothers me is the thundering hypocrisy. On one side, the right vilified him for being stupid in college while ignoring Kavanaugh being stupid in college, and on the other, the left is out crucifying any man who ever even thought about sex without express written consent while ignoring two extraordinarily credible rape accusations and by women of color, no less. It boggles the mind.

"On one side, the right vilified him for being stupid in college while ignoring Kavanaugh being stupid in college."

See, that's not what happened.

Nobody minds that Bart was a drunken skirt-chaser in college. (Well, some of the skirts might, and the fellow frat boys who had to clean up his puke might, but that's beside the point.)

The problem is that Bart LIED and LIED and LIED about his drunken college antics.
Such relentless LYING should simply not be acceptable for a judge on the highest court in the land.

What boggles the mind is how stupid deplorables remain. In spite of Reality slapping them around every day now.

"Thundering hypocrisy. "

That's some funny stuff I don't care who you are.

You support the biggest hypocrite on the planet.

"We all have the actual evidence now, and yet Trump and his allies are obsessed with the whistleblower," said Meyers.

"Trump wants the Ukraine whistleblower outed, and he says written questions are not acceptable. Of course, when Trump had to answer his own questions as part of Robert Mueller's Russia investigation, he felt a little different about the acceptability of written answers."

>leftists are flooding all our states, cities, towns, and villages with "diversity"

Leftists will snicker and sneer at this, as usual, because nothing else or original could be expected of them.
I'm more concerned about supposed conservatives, who always eat the ------------ with a big gleeful smile.

"Virginia 2019 will be USA 2020 in a nutshell."

You think so?

I think Trump will most likely win in 2020. At the very least it will be a contest.

After that, I see it being likely that the Dems winning in numbers similar to what Reagan achieved against Mondale. Trump has poisoned the Republican party to the point where the brand will have little value to anyone other than party loyalists.

I think that Trump may be the best thing to ever happen to Democrats.
