The Post's report, which has since been confirmed by the New York Times, claims that the president wanted Barr to hold a press conference in which he stated categorically that Trump did nothing illegal when he pressed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to investigate the family of former Vice President Joe Biden.

... the president wanted Barr to hold a press conference in which he stated categorically that Trump did nothing illegal when he pressed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to investigate the family of former Vice President Joe Biden. ...

Pres Trump has two very significant problems when he tries to assert that the Washington Post got the story wrong.

1) the story sounds like something Pres Trump would ask his personal lawyer (a.k.a. AG Barr) to do.

2) Pres Trump has a history of lying, to the point that even some of his supporters on this august site have said you cannot believe what he says.

So my leaning at this point is that the Washington Post got the story correct, or mostly correct.

Fat Nixon's grip on reality is slipping ever faster away.

"the president wanted Barr to hold a press conference in which he stated categorically that Trump did nothing illegal"

What's amazing is all the right-wingers somehow saw a press conference that never happened, and stand in complete agreement with Barr and Trump.

No Collusion!
Witch Hunt!

In another tweet, Trump said "Bill Barr did not decline my request to talk about Ukraine".

So Trump did make the request?

It might be noteworthy that impeachable offenses don't have to be crimes.

So, more misdirection from the emperor of ---------.

His reputation nearly in tatters, Bill Barr may have made a choice to ignore from now on requests to lie openly on behalf of his boss. All Americans should hope that Barr's 'investigation' into the root causes of the work that resulted in the naming of Robert Mueller quietly fades into the distance. Distract Trump with a large-busted woman, a pony or shiny object and he will forget about the 'investigation'. If Barr presses forward with his nothingberder, his reputation will be shot...

@#7 ... If Barr presses forward with his nothingberder, his reputation will be shot... ...

I think that AG Barr's reputation has been all but shot already.

Now he seems to be in the mode of trying to recover whatever of it he can.

Drumpf: "What the hell does Quid Pro Quo even mean? Is that Mexican?"
Toadie: "Sir, it is a Latin phrase that means, You do this for me and I'll give you that."
Drumpf: "Latin, like Mexican or like Latin America?"
Toadie: "Sir, Latin, like ancient Rome. It is sometimes used in legal cases..."
Drumpf: "I have the best words. It sounds like some sort of seasoning, for tacos. Art of the deal. We do that all the time, don't we? I'm a very, very great businessman. Quid pro quo."
Toadie: "Yes, you are sir. Unfortunately, in this situation, we should try to use code words. You can't ask Zelinsky to investigate Biden in return for the money. You have to word it differently."
Drumpf: "All I have to do is tell everyone we never said it. It was a perfect call. No quid pro quo. No collusion. Where's the remote?"

And scene...
