India's Supreme Court has ruled that the disputed holy site of Ayodhya should be given to Hindus who want a temple built there. The case, bitterly contested by Hindus and Muslims for decades, centred on the ownership of the land.

No need for riots when a temple and a mosque are both going to be built. Everyone with any sense knows the smart thing to do is make money off all the religious dummies on both sides. Al-Jazeerah gives an impression that things are and will stay calm.

I only ran into one nutcase while working in Abu Dhabi for a year and all he did was make me get out of his taxi.

Never been to India but I have read that they treat people of other religions like dirt under their feet. I only know one thing about it, I'm glad as hell that I'm not from India and that I am not a Hindu. I think I would prefer to be my little dog Joey. And both Joey and I will eat a hamburger today.

Babri Mosque: All evidence was with us,' says Muslim lawyer

The Muslim side in the legal battle of the Babri Mosque case possessed all the evidence under the law that the site belongs to the masjid, said a lawyer fighting the case.

The historic mosque, widely known as Babri Masjid, was built in 1528 during the reign of the first Mughal emperor Zahir ud-Din Muhammad Babur in today's Ayodhya in the central Indian province of Uttar Pradesh (UP) and there was no claim of any Hindu deity having been born at the site, said lawyer Zafaryab Jilani.

This was very expected. Indian courts have never been free of govt influence... even their Supreme Court is a Kangroo Court. As Modi and his Hindutva Movement gathers momentum, expect everyone to be thrown under the bus. LOL

How interesting... (written by an Indian)

I don't care how many Indian Muslims get hurt as long as India is on fire. LOL

If you're unfamiliar with the history of this case, here's an extremely basic recap: For over a century, Hindus and Muslims have clashed over this spot in Ayodhya where the Babri Masjid stands, with the Hindus claiming it is the birthplace of Ram, one of the avatars of Vishnu. In 1949, Hindutva organisations conspired to place a Ram idol in the mosque, effectively turning it into a makeshift Hindu temple and leading to a court case over who owns the land.

The only thing that was keeping India intact, was it's self-image of a secular country where your religion does not matter.

Under the Hindutva Movement ... which the Indian govt is now part of.... religion very much matters now.

Whenever the Indian Subcontinent starts thinking in terms of the religion of it's people, India breaks up into separate countries.

This time, there is talk of "Khalistan"... a separate homeland for the Sikhs. LOL

The last time there was talk of Khalistan, THIS happened:

Operation Blue Star left a deep mark in the thinking of Beant Singh and Satwant Singh, both part of the Indian elite forces who served as bodyguards for the Prime Minister. Satwant Singh always worked the late shifts and Beant Singh worked the early morning shifts as the prime minister's security. On 31 October 1984, Satwant Singh faked a stomach illness and swapped duties with another guard so that they could work together to execute their plan. That morning, at approximately 9:00 am, as Indira Gandhi walked from her house, the assassination took place. Initially, Beant Singh drew a .38-calibre revolver and fired three shots into Indira Gandhi's abdomen.

As she fell to the ground, Satwant Singh fired all 30 rounds from his Sten submachine gun into her body.

And this is why you see so many Sikhs in USA and even more in Canada. They had to escape the reprisals the Indians unleashed against the Sikh people.
