Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Though separated by multiple generations, one of the common threads running through Buffett's, Bezos' and Zuckerberg's professional successes are the foundationally conservative cultures of their youths " childhoods that prepared them in ways no socialist culture ever could or ever would.

Buffer, Bezos, and Zuckerberg "didn't build" their wealth based on their innate abilities... Conservative culture and ideals (supposedly) did. Discuss.

Just like religion and moral ideas, Conservatives somehow feel they have the monopoly on values like hard work and delayed gratification. They don't even have the monopoly on greed and avarice.
False premise from the start.

~ TFD

It not that we feel we have a monopoly, just that if you value hard work and work for something delaying gratification, you tend to be conservative.

Why? Because if the world changed you would loose that investment.

Liberals want change, great ... they typically are people that can most afford to have things change, either they are poor, or they are rich. People that can't have things change tend to be conservative, not out of values or morals, but RiskToReward, or skin in the game.

Single : Liberal
Family : Conservative.
This is why "taxation" (what you tax, who you tax) is such a big deal in investing. "spending" not so much......

The more skin you have in the game the more conservative you are going to be, its not complicated, its quite natural.

You're just making all that crap up.

I'd say that Jimmy Buffet did, in-fact, build cheeseburgers in paradise.

And you gotta get out more...

I actually read ecology/biology/psychology books with bindings, and then see if the models are consistent, so far the have been.....

For instance ...

To block homeless shelter, San Francisco residents are suing on environmental grounds
www.latimes.com

Do you proclaim these people suing SFO are "environmentalists"? "Conservatives" or "Liberals"?

"Liberals" tend to liberal with other peoples resources, not their own ... why? Its pretty simple and very natural #SkinInTheGame.

This is why Liberals want to tax Billionaires, have homeless shelters in other people neighborhoods etc etc ... the list is endless.

For instance ..

Kennedy tries to halt windmills ...
www.washingtontimes.com

If Liberals actually practiced Liberalism, instead of preaching, the world would be a utopia ... but they don't ... so here we are.

You assume everybody is as selfish and self centered as you.

Many people are against waste in government spending, not the social spending at large.

Only the proudly and loudly "c-c-Conservative" make the shallow, self righteous argument you did.

Not quite sure what meaning that babbling was supposed to convey, but not wanting windmills near your mansion is neither a Liberal or Conservative act, but a selfish one.
Not sure what that has to do with the subject. Are you saying that Cons want homeless shelters in their neighbor hoods? Are saying as folks get richer they get more selfish and entitled and that equates to Conservatism to you?

Pure , unadulterated, horse manure. Not unlike just about everything posted by mackris.

Delayed gratification, like when Trump can't achieve ------, because Melania's baby tunnel is too wide, and Stormy isn't available?

Buffet and Gates are mega billionaires and they are very liberal.

Old money, those that didnt earn wealth are often conservative. New money billionaires are disrupters and were able to anticipate and capitalize on future change.

Liberals create value, cons deparatly try to hoard it.

Why are people so obsessed with the political ideology of those guys?

What difference does it make?

It certainly doesn't solve any arguments, rather, it just creates them.

Perhaps political ideology doesn't have a damn thing to do with how they created their wealth or where their values came from?

No, old money is liberal ...

Kennedy's, Rockefellers, the list is long.

You don't understand why, the next gen didn't earn it, they have no skin in the game.

Liberals create value - bored.

Lol, they are conservative, until they have billions then they can afford to be liberal.

Like the Kochs and the Mercers? Or the Adelsons? Or Rupert Murdoch?

Big liberals, all!

Agreed....it's so futile to view the wealthiest families and their political ideologies. There is nothing to gain from it.

and remember....billionaires are billionaires first, political party falls down the list....

Statistically, there's no such thing as old money.

90% of family fortunes don't survive beyond three generations.

You idiots are mis-reading the entire thread. It doesn't matter if a billioaire propheses to be liberal or conservative. The article is about the PRINCIPLE they used to build their companies and fortunes, not their POLITICS. Gates, Zuck, Bezos, etc... all applied illiberal cutthroat capitalism to make their money. They did more than innovate.. they crushed competition, they formed modern monopolies, they bribed, and they bought. I can't speak for Gates, but the only reason Bezos and Zuck back Democrats is PROFIT. They see an opportunity to be key players in Big Brother REDUX.
