It was just after dawn at the height of the autumn fishing season, but something was wrong. "When are the fish coming?" boat captain Teruhiko Miura asked himself.

That increase far outstrips the global average and exceeds the limit policymakers set in Paris in 2015 when they aimed to keep Earth's average temperature rise "well below" 2 degrees Celsius.

You cannot control the earth's temperature.

Sure you can. Deforestation coupled with increased air pollution increases the earth's temperature. Which has been increasing the rate glaciers are melting. Which, again, increases the temperatures.

I honestly can't imagine being that stupid.

OTHER EFFECTS OF CLIMATE CHANGE?

Is climate change affecting human behavior?

A homeless man dumped a bucket of "hot" diarrhea on a Los Angeles woman near the Hollywood Walk of Fame " in an unprovoked attack.

Heidi Van Tassel said she was about to drive home from a Thai restaurant near the famed tourist area in April when the alleged assailant, Jere Blessings, dragged her out of her vehicle, news station NBC4 reported.

He pulled her into the middle of the street, where he dumped a bucket of feces over her head, she said.

"It was diarrhea. Hot liquid," Van Tassel told NBC4. "I was soaked, and it was coming off my eyelashes and into my eyes."

Referring to the amount of feces used in the attack, paramedics who treated her said that it "looked like the man was saving it up for a month,"

wonder if it was radioactive?

I got cat food in my eye the other day when opening a can trying to pull off the top with the tab and cat food juice went in one eye. We could probably feed the world with the resources devoted to pets in the US but trying to do something about that wastefulness would be the most unpopular thing ever. There used to be actual meadowlarks on Grandpa's land in Alabama but now there aren't even any plain old bobwhites. The reality is staring us down.

The Daily Wire presents news with a right wing bias in reporting and wording. For example headlines are usually sensational and utilize strong emotional language such as this: Democrats Boo God. Then They Quote The Bible To Attack Trump.

Virtually every story favors the right and denigrates the left. The Daily Wire has also published some false information such as these and this directly from Ben Shapiro. Further, a factual search reveals that the Daily Wire, on a whole, has a mixed track record with fact checkers.

Overall, we rate The Daily Wire as a far right biased news source based on story selection that always favors the right and that is Mixed for factual reporting due to a few failed fact checks. (9/2/2016) Updated (D. Van Zandt 10/24/2019)"

When you watch X, the algorithms feed you more X, which you watch. That X, which reinforces more X.
All the while you think you're being massively validated in "truth."
This is especially problematic with platforms like YouTube.
This is the key to radicalization. People naively think it's "self-radicalization" It's not. It's much more pernicious than that. It's active, and it 'watches.' It learns. There's no need to go and look for things that feed your confirmation bias. It will all come to you.

The average person decides on what they believe based on the presentation, not the facts, because they have not the education nor ability to evaluate the "facts". Moreover, once decided, they do not change their minds unless something drastic happens, and even then not all do.

Just look at the comments here. A bunch of school yard babble - not a scientific, reasoned debate - but win-at-all-costs, obscure-the-facts against them, propaganda and character assassination.

The article itself is propaganda/emotional-appeal on its face: "threatens the heart".
Even "reaction" is propaganda since it implies their claim is somehow scientific when no science is presented.
It begins with a story about how some fishermen are suffering, they claim is the result of global warming, which they call "climate change" (as if warming skeptics believe the climate is frozen (pardon the pun)). The massive, 5 mile long bottom, steel fishing nets that over-fishing the world and destroying fish habitat have nothing to do with it? The over-fertilizing runoff into the Salmon and other fish spawning grounds do not count?

"The rising temperatures are starting to shut down" and "Based on current trends" are code for "our models predict", rather than an actual shut down or proof that these have occurred before

The article is sold with pretty, glamour staged photos, no charts, no data, no citations; only quotes from a single scientist/institution.

#27 | Posted by jimmywalter at 2019-11-13 01:13 AM | Reply | Newsworthy 1

Every time the PPM count has gone over 400 (and it has many times in the past), the temperatures have been significantly HIGHER than they have been for most of the evolution of modern man. When the dinosaurs died out, the CO2 levels were calculated at 1200 PPM, and the global temperature was 7 C hotter than it is now (which means there were little or no ice caps or glaciers, and Antarctica was green).

That's not the environment in which we evolved and are adapted to live.

Moreover, the current increase in CO2 can't be explained by natural causes, nor solar orbits, nor catastrophic meteor impacts (as they were in the past). There is a direct correlation between the human use of fossil fuels and the concurrent rise of atmospheric CO2 in modern times.

Finally, what happened in the past doesn't make a damn bit of difference with what's happening today. There have been many causes for increases in CO2 in the past. None of those causes are why it's happening NOW. It's irrelevant for anyone to mention the past rises. Climate scientists have repeatedly mentioned them in the past, as have politicians (deniers, all, by the way).

So, what your completely irrelevant wall of text says is squat. It's irrelevant to the situation today. It's been pointed out by scientists, and politicians (the ones who don't hide from reality) that the climate has changed many times on Earth in the past for a multitude of reasons. This time, the reason is US. We're doing the changes to ourselves, and we know this because the other causes aren't happening (yet - if we reach a tipping point to start a natural feedback loop, such as if the methane hydrates start melting, that would completely take away our ability to try to reduce the CO2 concentrations in the air).

Not often that I agree with Nulli and Petrous but their comments about the Japanese are absolutely correct. Don't whine about there being no fish as your nuclear reactors are still putting nuclear waste into the oceans and your trawlers are all over the world overfishing the oceans at the same time.

What the Japanese do can barely be called fishing. It's more like industrial-scale mining of the ocean.

I am not a fan of the climate debate. Yes, I get it, there is change. How we fix it I'm open to suggestion, but the fix won't be overnight.

There is one thing I do believe in is when volcanos erupt, it spews a hell of a lot into the atmosphere.

When our world nations tested over 2000 nuclear bombs in the last 60+ years, it has to have an impact...that's my assumption and I dont care if it does make me a democrat to say it.

Why is everything always binary with you when it comes to this subject?

You lose all sense of nuance when discussing this.

One can generally accept the underlying science of AGW without buying into the alarmism or seeking to treat people who are skeptical of catastrophic global apocalypse as Nazi war criminals.

Venice is suffering some of the worst floods in its history " as the highest tide in 50 years threatens the historic city. At least one person has died.

The mayor said about 85% of the city was flooded.
