Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Friday, November 15, 2019

A powerful moment in today's hearing came when House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff questioned Marie Yovanovitch on the effect of President Trump's tweets and messages. "It's very intimidating," Yovanovitch replied. The line of questioning could be building up Democrats' case for a possible article of impeachment: obstruction of justice. While Trump's alleged abuse of power is still the main line of investigation for Democrats, the questioning that has emerged also underscores that Trump's actions since then could also be in play.

I always like the argument "there was something there".

But comparing the PRE-EVENT reporting and expected outcome of the report, testimony et al, to the ACTUAL outcome for the last three years, works out closer to NOTHING than SOMETHING.

They are doing the same thing over and over expecting different results.

I believe that if Nancy could put the pin back in the grenade, she would. I think we are 50/50 that we get an impeachment vote. With the prospect that MM stretches out the senate hearings hurting the Dems on the campaign trail, I think Nancy will be pressured into dropping this nonsense.

Of course conservatives find this boring. There is nothing in these proceedings that they think is impeachable. Mainly because there is nothing AT ALL that Trump could do that they WOULD find impeachable.

Hey... this isn't for partisan hacks like you. You aren't going to change your mind regardless of what is presented. This is for the actual Americans who care about this country and believe that the executive should be held to a higher (or, for that matter, any) standard.

So sorry that it is difficult for you to understand corruption when you see it.

But that speaks volumes about you.

Not us.

We get it. The President is corrupt and got caught with his hand in the cookie jar. And like all toddlers he doesn't know why and does not even think he did anything wrong. Everyone knows ALL the cookies belong to him!

And now your Government is doing what it was designed to do. Restore the balance of power. It is rebalancing itself. It's called Checks and Balances. This is a huge lesson for all of us so pay attention children!!

And instead of learning from your mistakes. You put your fingers in your ears and go na na na na na!

Diplomat Says Giuliani's Campaign Against Her Damaging to U.S.
www.bloomberg.com

...Marie Yovanovitch, who was removed as U.S. ambassador to Ukraine in May, told the House impeachment inquiry that President Donald Trump's campaign against her helped corrupt Ukrainians while damaging the U.S.

"It was not surprising, that when our anti-corruption efforts got in the way of a desire for profit or power, Ukrainians who preferred to play by the old, corrupt rules sought to remove me," Yovanovitch said in her opening statement. "What continues to amaze me is that they found Americans willing to partner with them and, working together, they apparently succeeded in orchestrating the removal of a U.S. Ambassador."...

But Yovanovitch has been able to provide her view of some of Giuliani's activities against her in Ukraine on behalf of Trump in back-channel diplomacy before she left her job as ambassador. She rebutted point by point the allegations promoted by Giuliani and his business associates.

She said it was untrue "that I told unidentified Embassy employees or Ukrainian officials that President Trump's orders should be ignored because he was going to be impeached' -- or for any other reason."

She also said the Obama administration "did not ask me to help the Clinton campaign or harm the Trump campaign, not would I have taken any such steps if they had."...

Giuliani "should have known those claims were suspect, coming as they reportedly did from individuals with questionable motives and with reason to believe that their political and financial ambitions would be stymied by our anti-corruption policy in Ukraine," she said.

"I had no other agenda other than to pursue our stated foreign policy goals," Yovanovitch said....

"It was a breathtaking moment, a reminder that this President seems incapable of restraining his urges to lash out at women who he perceives as potentially powerful critics. "

Once again, more evidence as to why Cons get elected. Ignoring reality and making up your own just turns people off from voting, regardless if you feel people just want to hear fairy tales. The absolute fact that no one can agree with and that the media goes to painstaking lengths to prove is that Trump is an --- to everyone. But, once he's an --- to someone who isn't male or white, all of a sudden it's a racism or sexism issue. Why do Libs have so much trouble with reality? Trump treats everyone the same and there is ample evidence he attacks white males as much as everyone else. There are many reasons why racism and sexism stay in the news...one of those reasons is because Libs want it to so they can try to form illogical arguments based in fantasy just to cater to peoples' morals. In fact, it is very very very very easy to understand that if Trump treated only white males the way the media illustrates him, evidence of racism or sexism would be so much more abundant and without complexity. Imagine him walking into a room and only talking to and shaking the hands of non-whites and females, would Liberals then say he is racist/sexist? If no, then you have an incredibly skewed and dangerous definition of racism. If yes, then you have all the proof you need of your fantasy world.

Senate Republicans taking this as a prime opportunity to "shake up" the Dems campaigns. Reports (www.washingtonpost.com) have emerged that, should Trump be impeached by a majority vote in the House, Senate Republicans might strategically hold a lengthy trial to "scramble" the 2020 Democratic presidential primary -- including by requiring several of the contenders to remain in Washington to handle the trial. Trump is all but certain to be acquitted by the GOP-controlled Senate in the event of impeachment, given that a two-thirds vote is required in the Senate to remove the president.

@#74 ... Is it just me ...

It is just you.

Kiev was the Russian spelling and pronounciation of the city's name.

Kyiv (derived from the name of one of its founders, Kyi) is the Ukrainian spelling and pronunciation.

It is understandable to most that the Ukrainians would want not to use the Russian version nowadays.

Hitch a ride with Mr Giuliani the next time he visits Ukraine, and see how the people of Ukraine pronounce the city's name.

Ukrainians living in the US may not have been affected by the cultural forces that affected the spelling and pronunciation change in Ukraine.

You have no idea what liberals think. So quit pretending you do.

I don't think any such thing. So quit believing your own lies.

And I have no problem with "other people's views"

No actual liberal does. Just "don't pick my pockets or break my bones" and I do not care what dummies like you think.

And I do have a problem with corruption in my government.

You do not. Apparently.

And so I do have a problem with the supporters and enablers of that corruption.

But this impeachment is not about anyone's "view". Not yours or mine anymore.

It is about the rule of law. And preventing America from becoming as corrupt as Russia. Congress is doing its job. So pay attention. You may learn a thing or two.

Thanks for sharing, Comrade.

I have been around the world several times even.

I don't know a single Ukrainian. Because I am an American My only interest in Ukraine before this was to keep them from falling into pooty poots hands. Because this is not in the interest of our national security

Apparently my interests in our national security and this President are very very different.

#162 | Posted by Zed

Loyalty has nothing to do with it. The reason I said "may" be in trouble is because now there has been a report floating around for a while that she specifically told the Ukrainians not to worry about Trump because she and the State Department would not let him..... Her testimony today said just the opposite.

Like the supposed "whistle blower", I have not seen actual evidence that it exists.

And for the record, after reading back through Yovanovitch's history/record, she has screwed up everything she has touched since her Canadian/Russian ass was allowed into the U.S.

FTR, when the "people bitching about closed-door hearings", Pedi-Schiff shut the testimony down a rushed the witnesses out of chambers.

But actually, as I peruse around the internet, listen on the radio, or watch the news, I have seen/heard it discussed a number of times. It kind of sounds like the story exists. But is still being crafted for prime time. Like I said. I give it about as much credibility as the supposed "whistle blower".

The founders gave us impeachment to use against a corrupt president, SPECIFICALLY CITING the example of a president getting foreign governments to interfere in our elections.

Your feeble attempts at discrediting her unimpeachable record are disgusting and speak volumes about YOUR intentions. Your Messiah is not going to do anything to make your stay in Hades comfortable for selling your soul so cheaply.

You are a Nothing to Humpy.

The President will be impeached. And he deserves it. He wanted this. He asked for it. He got it.

Yovanovitch will never be impeached. For anything. There is nothing you can say or do to besmirch her.

It must have been like walking on glass when she was applauded for her honorable service and courage and bravery in standing up to the Evil and Corruption emanating from the White House .
