The offer: A $1 million check from a major Democratic donor to a major Democratic group. The one condition: The money would be refunded if Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren becomes the party's nominee.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again... I currently think that Pres Trump has better than a 50-50 chance of being re-elected.

They way to beat him is not to proffer candidates that are more and more extreme.

The bigger issue is our two party system which is requiring the Democratic Party to represent too many ideologies.

In reality the Democratic Party could be split into two parties, one for moderates and one for liberals.

But, that will never happen. So you get a 2016. With liberals being upset Hillary was the nominee and moderates being upset liberals don't support Hillary.

The Democratic Party elite are the problem because they simply don't care about the raw economic issues that directly improves the lives of ordinary Americans.

-- The Republican Party = the party of the 1% = The Plutocrats

-- The Democratic Party = the party of the 10% = The Professional Class

The Democratic Party used to be the 'Party of the People', but they're instead the party of very well-to-do professional class and corporatism -- and working and middle-class Americans get nothing offered but generic platitudes about education and job retraining.

And the Democratic Party elite wonders why pissed off American voters gravitate to anyone offering them anything that directly improves their lives.

So what's the party for the remaining 89%?

Will the class-struggle candidates refuse to take progressive plutocrat cash?

Meanwhile, for $25 dollars you can get Professor Warren's "Billionaire Tears" mug.

#5 | POSTED BY CLOWNSHACK

That's the point, there is no party party representing the bipartisan consensus of ordinary Americans who want things like the following ...

www.salon.com

Allow Government to Negotiate Drug Prices (79%)
Give Students the Same Low Interest Rates as Big Banks (78%)
Universal Pre-Kindergarten (77%)
Fair Trade that Protect Workers, the Environment, and Jobs (75%)
End Tax Loopholes for Corporations that Ship Jobs Overseas (74%)
End Gerrymandering (73%)
Let Homeowners Pay Down Mortgage With 401k (72%)
Debt-Free College at All Public Universities (Message A) (71%)
Infrastructure Jobs Program -- $400 Billion / Year (71%)
Require NSA to Get Warrants (71%)
Disclose Corporate Spending on Politics/Lobbying (71%)
Medicare Buy-In for All (71%)
Close Offshore Corporate Tax Loopholes (70%)
Green New Deal -- Millions Of Clean-Energy Jobs (70%)
Full Employment Act (70%)
Expand Social Security Benefits (70%)

All of the above are in line with Bernie Sanders' politics and all are extremely popular, with support across the political spectrum.

American needs a Populist Party that directly addresses the above issues that would tap into the 100 million non-voters to finally due things that improve the lives of ordinary Americans.

"Allow Government to Negotiate Drug Prices (79%)"

Let's stop kidding ourselves, shall we?

When Republicans had 100% control, they refused to allow the same negotiations for 100 million people that 100 people can get.

When Democrats had 100% control, they refused as well. ---- 'em both.

"Let Homeowners Pay Down Mortgage With 401k (72%)"

In almost all cases, a terrible idea, and the same reason we don't offer people half their SS payments up front as a lump sum.

America may have squandered its last chance by nominating Hillary.

It may be too late to ever get progressive ideas passed in this country again.

@#10 ... It may be too late to ever get progressive ideas passed in this country again. ...

Politics is like a pendulum. When i swings toward one side, it always returns to the center and goes beyond the center in the other direction.

My concern is the dictatorial leaning of Pres Trump and those who support his quest for near absolute executive power, the rule of and loyalty to a man, over the rule of and loyalty to the Constitution.

Did you hear or read AG Barr's speech at teh Federalist Society about his views of the supreme power of the executive?

Scary stuff that could stop a pendulum in its tracks.

"Jittery Democrats Fear Their Candidate Won't Beat Trump"

Which is why they are ramping up the impeachment coup. It's the only thing they have.

Democrats fear defeat or are too smug about winning? You play this both ways here.

#19 | Posted by Zed at 2019-11-17 10:44 AM | Reply

Any sane person understands that Trump will very likely lose the popular vote, again. Every sane person understands that if he gets re-elected, then that's the EC. Louisiana and Kentucky have put a little doubt into that whole EC thing.

Donald Trump's best chance to win in 2020 is to cheat. He knows that, and that's what he's been busy doing.

Democrats Fear Their Candidate Won't Beat Trump

How can that be? Day after Day, all summer long... the media has been reporting the Democrats were ahead of the "polls"..

Why should the Democrats be worried?... they are ahead and have been ahead all along....

UNLESS we have been lied to...

Democrats lying? My god in heaven...

Heck, even Bernie Sanders supported Hillary.

#29 | Posted by BruceBanner at 2019-11-17 05:07 PM | Reply

I'd call them "Disenchanted" and "Fed Up With The System."

That's not quite liberalism.

Trumpers are disenchanted and fed up with the system, for example, until Trump enchanted them.

These are the ones that Bernie enchanted. Hillary represents The System, perhaps even The Man -- the thing with which they've become Disenchanted and Fed Up.

Populism is a stronger force in politics now than ever before in my lifetime. Obama cashed in on populism; Trump cashed in on populism; both beat Hillary, who in more policy oriented times, clearly had more substance than both of them put together when she lost.

#31 | Posted by snoofy at 2019-11-17 05:17 PM | Reply

Yeah lots of people are blind to their own faults, as it were*.

For example the GOP Congressional Delegation is about 95% White Christian Male, but you should hear them howl when the other side engages in "identity politics!"

*I'm sure that will get a chuckle from a few of my fans!

What is truly scary is some of have no clue how the pendulum works.

The pendulum swings like a pendulum do. But it's movement it traces a long arc thru history. But that arc is towards justice. Not corruption and extortion and obstruction.

Patience grasshopper!

Humpy and his gang of thieves and criminals are about to experience "some bad things".

"The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice".

I haven't been sentient in this universe for long, but I'm hoping you're absolutely right. But, not being a believer in karma, I'm afraid it simply comes down to coincidence.

IOW, "The arc of the moral universe is long, but it coincidentally bends towards justice."

"The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice".

Marx's theory of historical materialism in a new bottle. The "laws of history" will inevitably result in a classless, communist society.
