Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Waiters were coming and going as U.S. Ambassador to the European Union Gordon Sondland spoke on the phone with President Trump on July 26 from the outdoor section of a central Kyiv restaurant and discussed the Ukrainian president's willingness to conduct politically charged investigations, an episode that also highlighted the lack of security around a presidential call, according to testimony to Congress and a person familiar with the episode.

During the course of the phone call from the restaurant, Sondland also consulted with Trump on another matter of importance to the president at the time: efforts to free the American rapper A$AP Rocky from jail in Sweden at the request of reality television star Kim Kardashian.

"Give A$AP Rocky his FREEDOM," Trump tweeted. "We do so much for Sweden but it doesn't seem to work the other way around. Sweden should focus on its real crime problem!"

Sondland, according to Holmes's opening statement, advised Trump to "let him get sentenced, play the racism card, give him a ticker-tape when he comes home." Sondland added that Sweden should have released the rapper on Trump's word, but the president could at least tell the Kardashians he tried, according to Holmes's recollection.

Jesus H. Christ.... I guess at this point I don't know what is more surprising. Is it that Trump enlisted a procedurally illiterate donor as his inside-man on his Ukraine scheme or that somehow in the middle of all of this Kim Kardashian and a two-bit rapper are substantly mentioned within the same phone conversation?

Republicans, do you really want to continue to say that all of this is just business as usual?

This is what happens when you use a money-rich but common-sense-poor as your intermediary in critical, and possibly back-firing, conversations.

Pres Trump has shown, even demanded, the want of the ability to use insecure communications.

Most, if not all, ambassadors would have initiated the conversation in question from a secure facility, not an outdoor cafe with Russian agents dining within earshot.

I mean,really.

Just how unaware was Amb Sondland of the operational environment around him? Was he as clueless as the situation paints him as being? (rhetorical question)

This goes to illustrate that the accumulation of money does not equate to common sense.

He called Putin's -------- on POTUS's personal phone. The POTUS who has never heard of him and doesn't know him.

Every spy agency in the world has a recording of that call, and probably a dozen people in the restaurant.

Trump did the same thing himself at Mara Lago, he doesn't have a clue about actually being President. This is what your should expect when you elect an ignorant dumb ass for President.

Seriously? Name 3 or 4 examples of something Trump has done and tie it to 2 presidents. Don't be a fool and fall for idiotic talking points.

Yes, Pete...Tony is correct.

However, that is the defense being seriously offered by the GOP, and so far, it's working for a significant portion of the populace.

This is what happens when you elect a rank amateur who is laser focused only on making money for himself and nothing else.

"Waiters were coming and going as Sondland spoke on the phone with President Trump on July 26"

It doesn't matter, Putin was listening in on Fat Nixons unsecured personal phone and besides, it was the Kremlin's policy anyways.
