Chick-fil-A is making major changes to its charitable foundation, ending donations to two organizations that have been criticized for being anti-LGBTQ. The fast food chain announced Monday that beginning next year it will only donate to a certain group of charities. That list no longer includes the Salvation Army and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). Both organizations have taken controversial stands on homosexuality and same-sex marriage.

Nulli is Angry!

First black people were treated as equals, then women, now the LGBT?!

Can't we just go back to the good lo days when straight white men were considered human beings and everyone else was required to stay in the shadows?!

Hey Nulli, perhaps Mississippi or Alabama would be a better home for a bigoted pos like you're portraying yourself to be.

The business has enjoyed tremendous growth but it wasn't enough.

Really...their food and variety is sort of ordinary but the concept the business was built appealed to a great many people.

They're going to have to step up their game and really compete now.

They might even have to start opening on Sundays.

Gay Marriage passed years ago so that's over and done.

I think this continued attack has just been an excuse to pressure an openly professing Christian business into openly rejecting and disavowing its Christian heritage.

But...you know why this will be a short lived victory?

Because it's not the ultimate goal.

What is the ultimate goal?

The acceptance of Gay Marriage by mainstream Christians and mainstream America.

We will continue to see one attack after another on Christian based businesses that even hint at not supporting Gay Marriage even though it's already law.

#18 "all religions condemn homosexuality. So the universal prohibition, across culture and history is wrong?"
Well duh! Yes.
Homosexuality is a natural aspect of nature.
If you believe in girly girls & manly men LBGTQ+ are just other points on the bell curve of human variability.
Homosexuality has been observed in nature among various animals & birds & whatever else humankind may, or may not, be we're all part of that same nature.
Fearing or attacking minority expressions of that variability is akin to primitive tribes which kill albinos for their body parts thinking the parts hold magical properties.
In the public marketplace all customers are equal not to be discriminated against based on anti-science religiosity.
After all isn't religious belief of the cafeteria sort? Slavery, subservience of wives, beating of children & plucking thine own eye out have all fallen by the wayside of progress, perhaps it's time for reality to be recognized again & end the discrimination against homosexuality too.

I agree with you there. I know I see Popeye's as an alternative to Chick-Fil-A. I like Chick-Fil-A's sandwiches, and would occasionally eat there, though much less than I would have if I didn't find their politics and the causes they support distasteful. Now that Popeye's has an alternative that can satisfy my chicken sandwich cravings, I will probably go there even less.

And, even though Chick-Fil-A is caving to the pressure, I am not sure that is going to change. It is probably too little, too late.

I have had BOTH Popeye's and Chick-Fil-A, and I prefer Popeye's. CFA is a hunk of chicken on a bun with mayo and a pickle. Popeye's is spicy goodness! We finally got a Popeye's in a nearby city!

I also preferred Popeye's sandwich, but they are different. I can definitely see people feeling that the Chick-Fil-A sandwich is superior. And, I am sure there will be days, based upon my mood, that I would prefer a Chick-Fil-A sandwich over Popeye's. But, I doubt that I will prefer it ENOUGH for it to overcome the negative connotations that Chick-Fil-A has associated with their brand (such that I actually go buy one on any sort of regular basis).

Lft,

Me? lots.

Her? She's totally straight. Not a bit into women. She a very agreeable person and a joy to live with.

Human sexuality and love is pretty complex. Strange thing about attraction.

I think people today are losing out on so much when it comes to relationships.

I'd venture to guess many people out there who are lonely and hoping to meet "the right one" might already have but pushed them away.

Instead they opt for a series of short term stints that are hot and shallow.

You know...one of things I found appealing about my marriage was that I had experienced the "gay lifestyle" in a big city in the 70's and found it not exactly fulfilling. I am very tall and considered good looking. Had no problem meeting guys. After awhile I gave my heart away to so many it was leaving me feeling vacant. I knew older gays and saw just where it was headed. Many were cold and had given up on the idea of relationships because it wasn't very likely. All the gay couples I knew had open relationships and life expectancy for gay men was considerably lower and still is.

Then along came a woman and we became friends for a good while until things changed one day and really we grew up together.

Now we've been married 40 years.

There you have it.

Lft,

I left off she was raised in a church going family and I guess we had similar values. They weren't fire and brimstone types.

My parents taught me Christian values so we had that in common. I ended up eventually joining that church.

Personally I never really felt the guilt and confusion being a Christian and gay I witnessed in some people. That had nothing to do with my choosing to marry a woman.

I just always felt uneasy because of things I saw around me.

For a few months I worked as a cashier at a bathhouse. I saw a lot there.

My wife was a straight laced young smart woman. We became friends and eventually more.

I never deliberately cast aside my gay identity and really still haven't.

Now I have another life that makes me content and has managed to work all these years.

I share on here because I find it therapeutic and has helped me better understand myself.
