It's known for being the home of Mount Rushmore -- and not much else. But thanks to its relish for deregulation, the state is fast becoming the most profitable place for the mega-wealthy to park their billions.

I wish this article were better. It's a little over-written.

Rapid City is one of the nicest small cities I've ever visited.

"Rapid City is one of the nicest small cities I've ever visited."

Rapid City is 96% White
however, the schools are real ----, housing, weather and crime is bad, (they get an F on all 3) and a d- on jobs.

So basically, its only the "nicest small city" if you are a low skill, trailer living, Podunk white supremacist with no prospects

"low skill, trailer living,"

The drunken injun is awake, apparently.

Face it, you're just pissed that despite the fact that it's one big trailer park, you were still not allowed in.

urine stained teepee drug along behind a wasted, nearly passed out, savage isn't what they want.....not even in a trailer park in Rapid City, SD.

South Dakota is similar to Montana and Idaho and Wyoming.

They can buy lots of land, beautiful summers, and being the uber wealthy...they will live someplace else in the winter, obviously.

They aren't worried about schools or other issues the common folks focus on.

Which South Dakota city or area is the Jackson or Whitefish or even Coeur d'Alene or Boise? How about Yellowstone? Any Yellowstones in SD?

I think your comparison might be rather weak, but I'm willing to listen. What's great in SD?

My father and his 7 siblings are from South Dakota.
After they graduated highschool the first thing they all did was move.

My father always said "It's a nice place.......................... to be from!"

I thought they loved it for the meth. They're on it, from the sound of it.

Spearfish Canyon into Deadwood is pretty cool.

Anecdotally, Spearfish is the only place anyone ever asked if I wanted lettuce on my BLT.

Nobody mentioned Wall Drug yet. It sucks though. The Badlands are cool.

Liberals were just attacking Florida a couple weeks ago because it's a billionaire's paradise. I guess they have to release a new flavor of the month? We get it Libs, you are jealous you don't have millions but don't want to do any work for it and expect the government to just give you everything you could ever want. Stop trying to make it such a huge issue. It's not. It may become one sometime relatively soon with the way Libs are governing but for the next couple of decades it won't change.

There's only one billionaire in South Dakota, making them tied for 34th place among US states.

#16 | Posted by JOE at 2019-11-21 12:32 PM | Reply

Meanwhile, the #1 and #2 states are California with 163, and NY with 113.

States that provide the opportunity to get rich in the first place will always have more rich people in them. South Dakota is not one of them.

You've obviously never been to Rapid City.

But the racism was a nice touch. You might fit in well there.

I just know some folks who love to fish and hunt and there are some great places for that in SD and the Western side is a bit more scenic than the Eastern side.

And because of the demand for property in WY, SD is a bit more of a bargain.

"You've obviously never been to Rapid City."

You're wrong as hell but what else is new?

I rode 90 through the entire state east to west, out to the Black Hills this past summer.

Ain't nuthin' there! At least off of 90...

It's the kind of place where one might start talking to the prairie dogs.
