The FBI asked last month to interview the intelligence community whistleblower who first raised concerns about President Donald Trump's interactions with Ukraine that ultimately sparked the House impeachment inquiry, a source familiar with the request confirmed to CNN.

The FBI is entirely under the control of William Barr. F the FBI. The Whistleblower is not accused of committing a crime and they should not be allowed to interview him and then reveal his identity to Barr and Trump who will use the information to ruin his/her life. It should be entirely the choice of the Whistle Blower to reveal or conceal their identity.

The FBI has also shown themselves to be in the thrall of the conservative deep state (how DID Giuliani know about the Hillary emails before EVERYONE else?).

If I were the whistleblower, I would be very skeptical of giving them any personally identifying information for fear that it would be leaked as has been shown to occur in the past.

"ask" in one hand and take a crap in the other...

And see which one gets filled up first!

No subpoena... no interview.

Go ahead and issue a subpoena and watch the fireworks... I know I shouldn't but.... I dare em.

I double dog dare them.

How do you subpoena someone when you don't know who they are?

Trump keeps poking around trying to find a crack in the wall. The man is hell-bent on vengeance!

I don't usually feel sorry for demons but in this case I feel sorry for the ones that live in Trump's head.

LOL!

Oh sure!

Like that will stop them?

They can subpoena the IG. The IG confirmed everything and is the one who wanted to move forward. You and I both know it Doesn't even matter what the whistleblower said now. (and the IG knows who that evil whistleblower is!)

The IG made the call. Or tried to.

As far as we know this could be related to the ongoing counterintelligence investigations the FBI initiated surrounding the Russian interference campaign since the very narrative of events (Ukraine being behind the DNC hack, et._al.) was initiated by Putin himself and pushed by Russian propagandists.

Even though Barr is technically over the FBI, tactically they don't work at his behest and retain institutional autonomy. At least that's what alleged experts have been quoted saying.

#7 I've also read a bit that this may be related to potential investigations relating to findings in the impeachment hearings.

That was my point too. I just connected it to the larger Russian cointel probe because the things Trump wanted to be investigated in Ukraine were related to the false narrative first issued by Putin as cover for Russia's role in the 2016 operation with all its roots moving forward to today.

"Trump wanted to be investigated in Ukraine were related to the false narrative first issued by Putin as cover for Russia's role in the 2016 operation with all its roots moving forward to today."

Started by Putin but quickly picked up by Manafort, who, through Klimnik, had a direct line to the Kremlin:

Manafort pushed Ukraine conspiracy theory as far back as 2016

New documents from Mueller investigation released

President Donald Trump's former campaign chairman Paul Manafort blamed Ukrainians for the hack into computers of the Democratic National Committee during the 2016 campaign rather than the long-held conclusion of US intelligence that the Russians played a role in the election meddling, newly released documents from special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation show.

The documents are notes from interviews the Mueller team conducted with witnesses, including former Trump deputy campaign chairman Rick Gates, who served alongside Manafort.

"Gates recalled Manafort saying the hack was likely carried out by the Ukrainians, not the Russians," read a summary of one interview done with Gates. Manafort has extensive ties to Ukrainian politicians and businessmen and is serving prison time for fraud and for illegally lobbying in the US on their behalf, among other crimes.

The newly released documents show how far back some people in the Trump political operation theorized Ukraine's unsubstantiated role in the Democratic hacking.

They can subpoena the IG.

That would create an interesting legal conundrum, as federal law expressly prohibits the IG from "disclosing the identity" of the whistleblower without his/her consent, unless such disclosure is "unavoidable." I'm curious whether a court has ruled on whether a subpoena constitutes "unavoidability" for disclosure. Not curious enough to research it though.

The whistleblower has admitted that the information he brought forward was not personally witnessed by him or her. Indeed, the fact that he was reporting "hearsay" was a big criticism of him early on.

So what's the point on interviewing him? All the primary sources have now come forward and testifying.

This is creepily political and sad.

And all of society outside of trump's cult knows it doesn't matter who called the cops. When the cops showed, up there was a robbery in progress.

The whistleblower could be adolf hitler's ghost and it wouldnt change a thing for trump.

Except hitler would love trump so that's a bad example.

The whistleblower should refuse to testify.. including in private... unless Bill Barr recuses himself.

Trump has committed too many legal and ethical crimes since then for anyone to keep up with them all, which is his whole strategy.

One week of trump would be enough to sink any other president, but he just keeps doing so much horrible stuff every day that he is never held accountable for the horrible thing he did yesterday.

Did you know he paid 2 million last week because he was found to have been fraudulantly running a charity for his own benefit instead of for the sick kids he claimed it was for?

Remember when he paid a porn start hush money to keep her quiet during the election about how he boned her without a condom while his 3rd trophy wife was home nurising his new baby? His lawyer is in jail for that scheme and trump is an unindicted co conspirator.

REmember when he obstructed justice 10 times during the mueller investigation?

And when one of those kids from his child abuse camps kills some innocent americans in 10 years because of the childhood trauma trump did to them and the irreversible damage it did to their psyche, remember why that happened.
