More than 50,000 people in East Texas remained under a mandatory evacuation order Thursday as a fire continued to burn at a chemical plant, one day after two massive explosions there.

Good thing these people mean nothing to the free market!

All that matters to Texas, Republicans and Trump humpers is this company bearing as little responsibility as possible for the incident and clean up.

This fire/explosion is long-term terrorism inflicted by vulture-capitalist terrorists.

No regulation enforcement will, no doubt, be the cause.

If they committed a crime they should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law!

Has Putin's cock-holster sent any rakes to Texas yet?

That's the point of putting your pollution factory in texas - the things that should be crimes, aren't crimes in texas.

So they get thanksgiving evacuations to celebrate their freedom from regulations.

Yes, remember West, Texas. They allowed a school and nursing home to be built right next to a chemical fertilizer plant.

They were cited multiple times but apparently nothing could be done.

Thoughts and prayers to the good people of east Texas affected by this terrible tragedy.

#6 it's a synthetic rubber plant. Your green economy does not exist without it. But hey, let's make it illegal and go back to only natural rubber, ww2 battles for it were awesome.

Or we could just make it safer by requiring these companies to be safe. In spite of their greed. With oh no! ...regulations.

By requiring these companies that make their money's from selling to a product to people be responsible and accountable for their actions to those people.

When you profit more you also become more responsible and accountable to the population you are profiting from.

Well.

Except in Texas. I guess.

Texas is special. They don't need clean air rules. They don't need workplace safety regulations. They got their guns, though; so there's that...

My daughter's father-in-law is from San Antonio. He's a retired public school educator, and on more than one occasion he's opined many of his fellow Texans are an embarrassment.

Yeah because the only choices are lax regulations or NO RUBBER, right stupid?

Just like if if you dont want to vote for trump your only other choice is marxist communism.

There are local, federal, and state regulations for chemical plants. No regulations will ever get you your fantasyland. Even chem plants in nanny states explode. Learn to love it. It's the green revolution in action.

See what happens in the "low-regulatin, low services" state? THIS. Every year. Oh, and mediocre education. BUT! We have the biggest, most expensive football stadiums, you know because high school jocks would be all snowflake if every four-red-light town didn't have astroturf fields.

Corporate terrorism. Yet, will the owners be held accountable. In Texas, so no.

50k under evacuation? Sounds like the type of thing that happens in 3rd world countries where there are no regulations, and everyone is corrupted trying to save a buck. God bless Texas. And as someone said above, thoughts and prayers.

The ignorance of this statement is astounding.

The federal government overseas this via the EPA.

The EPA under Trump and a GOP appointed Director is tantamount to not having any regulation whatsoever. And you all know it. That is what you all are always railing against in the first place. "Too much" government regulation. lol. It would be ironic justice if the vast majority of those evacuated were GOPhers.

Thank god the republicans got rid of the regulation on storing combustible chemicals enacted after the West plant explosion.

The Houston area is home to more than 2,500 chemical facilities. A 2015 Houston Chronicle investigation found there's a major chemical incident in the greater Houston area every six weeks. So far this year, there's been at least four chemical fires in the Houston area, including one at a tank storage facility in Deer Park, where it took more than an hour for some emergency personnel to know what hazardous chemical was burning.

HATTER

I have to wonder how many of those plants are owned by Koch Industries. They've been lobbying for many years to gut the EPA.

Trump finally gave them their wish.

There have been several large chemical plant accidents in Texas in the news over the past several years.

Are you claiming there are an equal number of accidents in plants outside of Texas that just don't make the news?

When a certain type of incident occurs in a certain area there's a limited number of explanations for it.

This is just how Texas toughens up its people.

Can't be all lolly gagging around on Thanksgiving stuffing yourself with turkey and getting all fat and lazy!

Get back to work Texans. Remember where you are and Gawd Bless Texas!
