I saw this early this morning on WDSU. There wasn't much for details.

I think it was Halloween 2013 same thing happened in that stretch of Canal.

Who will be first to blame Trump? In a city that has been run by Democrats for more than a century. Like every other cesspool city on the list of poverty, crime and corruption, all run by Democrats, they are supposed to be for the little people.

Just another day in a Democrat-run city. Last Republican mayor: Ben Flanders, 1870. Not a typo. That's 1870, not 1970.

"Just another day in a Democrat-run city."

Another day another attempted lie from blowhard Nulli.

STFU already with your lies. Democrats are not the problem and cannot solve these problems alone.

Even Democrats cannot reduce gun violence without reducing the number of guns on the streets. This requires Republicans who refuse to help. They avoid the topic of gun violence like the plague. Because you cannot solve it without reducing the number of guns. And no one is brave enough to tackle that problem head on.

Because as you well know by now. Nothing Can Be Done.

And this particular shooting occurred after the Bayou Classic football game in New Orleans. So many we need to reduce the number of Bayou Classics if football folks can't behave themselves?

Here are some examples of Republicans who represent districts with more violence than Chicago

Congressman French Hill (R) represents Little Rock, Arkansas, which has a murder rate of 21.7 per 100,000 people in 2014.

Cincinnati had a murder rate of 20.2 per 100,000 people Congressman Steve Chabot(R)

Here are five members of Congress who represent cities with murder rates that are more than triple the national average:

Rep Jackie Walorski, whose district includes South Bend, Indiana,
Rep Kevin Yoder, whose district includes Kansas City, Kansas,
Rep Charles Fleischman, who district includes Chattanooga,
Tennessee, and Reps David Rouzer
Walter Jones, who districts include parts of Wilmington, North Carolina.

You guys are sharp and then some.

I'm just going to ignore these silly kids.

It should be as difficult to obtain a firearm as it is here in Los Angeles.

This will prevent them from going across the border and outstanding illegal firearms should be treated as harshly as possible.

If you turn up the heat enough on most criminals they'll melt.

Im aware there will always be gun nuts who will risk it all just to have a firearm they probably don't even know how to use or clean properly. There's quite a few lurking around this forum.

You should have to take all your guns in for inspection from the sheriff or police annually. This way they can at least see you have a case and/or lock and that the firearm is clean and properly maintained. I believe we do something similar with the DMV.

You're welcome.

If your firearm carries a 10+ year sentence and each magazine carries a 5+ year sentence and each round in the chamber carries a 1+ year sentence I firmly believe we will see a lot of gun buybacks.

And if you're near a school or church all those sentences are doubled.

It's called logic and it solves a lot of problems.

Everyone can still have guns. They just need to be regulated a bit better.

#17 | Posted by LostAngeles I agree, Let's disarm California completely. Less resistance to overcome later. Same with every Democrat stronghold. Disarm the Democrats, everyone forever. It will be much easier to force them into reeducation camps later. That wasn't my idea, it was proposed by more than a few leftist-to put away their opposition. I wonder if it sounds as venal coming from me as it did when they were proposing the same?

Are you insinuating that people who mass kill are dotted along party lines? Are you insinuating that mass murders are political at heart? get a ------- clue! turnip waggon rider.... poverty creates crime in capitalist societies. we will deal with it regardless of race or creed. you create desire, criminals will emerge.

#21 | Posted by lfthndthrds The crap get deep. Poor Koreans don't stay poor. Immigrants from Jamaica do as well as white populations. African immigrants do much better than native born black people. Mexican and Latin populations are poorer than blacks when they arrive, but they do not stay poor. Drop the class conflict BS. Values matter. What we have now is a generation raised without a father. It doesn't take a village, but it does take a real family. That includes a father.

Poor Koreans don't stay poor.

You should visit Korea Town, in Los Angeles. Perhaps meet someone who's Korean. They have their rich and their poor. Being Korean wasn't any help.

Immigrants from Jamaica do as well as white populations.

You should visit Venice Beach, in Los Angeles. Perhaps meet some Jamaicans. Selling whatever they can off the boardwalk. They have their rich and their poor. Being Jamaican wasn't the deciding factor.

African immigrants do much better than native born black people.

African immigrants weren't raised in a nation that has systematically oppressed them for centuries. They were privileged with better lives and educations. But, there are poor and rich African immigrants and black Americans. Being a black African wasn't detrimental to their upbringing. Whereas being a black American is something you have to overcome.

Mexican and Latin populations are poorer than blacks when they arrive, but they do not stay poor.

Go to any city. Perhaps meet some Mexicans and people of Central American and South American descent. You wouldn't come off so overwhelmingly racist, relying completely on stereotypes, instead of actually being informed.

What we have now is a generation raised without a father.

Thanks criminal justice system and for profit prisons!

#25 | Posted by ClownShack, At least I am not stupid enough to live in California. And as far as racial stereotypes, you are loaded with them. That Jamaican who is harking wares on the sidewalk likely has another job or two at night. I used to read meters back in the 70s, never saw anyone in Hispanic neighborhoods except kids and old ladies. Everyone else was at work. Black neighborhoods were wall to wall guys hanging out doing nothing. Most Asians I knew owned a business, within 5 years of moving into my town. They often lived in the store. Mr. Nuyen slept on a cot in the back of his store room for six years before he bought a house when his wife came in from Thailand. BTW, gas down on the corner store cost 2.14, and I have no state income tax. Plus I have never seen human excrement on a sidewalk in Texas, can you say the same about the land of fruits and nuts? BTW I didn't know there were any straight people in Venice Beach, it is sort of like the Castro of LA. "I have black friends and African friends" BFD, I was married to a black woman for 28 years and raised four black kids. I seriously doubt you are as familiar with black culture as I am. Values mater. Young men get their values watching their fathers.

Yeah the cities that are hamstrung by the Republican State laws that prohibit them from raising taxes to pay for the things you blame them for not having enough of.

That's a tried and true Republican tactic. underfund government services then blame the people forced to try to run them without funding, and try to say that's proof that everything should be privatised, then give the contract to friends and family and charge the people twice as much as they would have paid in taxes to fully fund it

In America, 1/3 of households have guns.
In Switzerland, 1/3 of households have guns.
Switzerland has 1/4 of the gun death rate than America has.
In 2001, the BBC reported that "the gun crime rate is so low that statistics are not even kept."
The problem isn't the guns.

#38 If you acknowledge the cultural difference between Switzerland and the US, could it not also be true that tighter restrictions on guns in the US would impact our culture in a way not found in Switzerland?

Put another way, you seem to say it's not the guns, it's Americans specifically. Would it not then make sense to try something in America that they don't try in Switzerland since we seem to be having a bigger problem controlling our weapons here?

Here's an even better analogy.

Let's say i have two children and i raise them the exact same way. I let them both play two hours of video games per day. One of them gets straight A's and is an exemplary child. The other one acts out violent fantasies in school and gets C's and D's.

Would i simply point to the first child and say, "hmm, it must not be the video games, since Child A is doing just fine." Or would I acknowledge that the two children are different from one another, that they require different styles of governance, and take away Child B's video games?

matching gun ownership rates does not equal matching regulation of said firearms

In Switzerland you must get a permit to buy a gun.

The following information must be provided to the cantonal weapon bureau together with the weapon application form:

valid official identification or passport copy.
residence address.
criminal record copy not older than 3 months.

The weapon holders are registered

They also limit magazine capacity and addons like scopes, laser sights and bump stocks.

Bottom line. You can have regulation without taking away gun rights
