Top congressional Republicans have unveiled their defense strategy as the impeachment inquiry into Donald Trump moves into a new phase: In a 123-page document released Monday, they demonstrated that they understand the president held up nearly $400 million in security aid to Ukraine - and they simply don't care.

House GOP defense of Trump: OK, he did it. Now get over it

Yup. that's always what it comes down to.

"the president held a "deep-seated, genuine, and reasonable skepticism" of the country"

Then why did he ask for an investigation of a private company, that wasn't getting any of the aid?

the president held a "deep-seated, genuine, and reasonable skepticism" of the country

Asha Rangappa @AshaRangappa_

Then WHY IN THE WORLD would he want them investigating a U.S. citizen?!?!?

this is getting so exhausting

Has any GOP member explained why " if as Jim Jordan says Ukraine is "one of the three most corrupt countries on the planet" " Trump trusted them to investigate two U.S. citizens for...corruption?

Can someone also ask, the next time one of these yahoos go on TV saying an investigation was warranted, why Ukraine was even involved since:

1. They don't have jurisdiction over U.S. citizens for corruption cases; and
2. We don't have an extradition treaty w Ukraine in any case

That's not a bug, that's a feature.

So much for that Moral Majority and Party of Responsibility shtick the Right Wingers bandied about for so long. They have none.

Because the corrupt politicians that shut down the investigation of that company were still in power - thus, he was skeptical of the country. Then again, you just have to go back to testimony of George Kent to understand why Burisma was a legit target.

"Because the corrupt politicians that shut down the investigation of that company were still in power "

Then Trump should've asked to have the politicians investigated.

Instead, Trump never mentioned corruption in his July 25 discussion with Zelensky...but he brought up Biden three times. Nor did he ask the finest investigators in the world to investigate...even though the FBI was right down the street.

I don't want to say I told you so, but...

"SO... the rwing riff after the testimony seems to be that, "yes, Trump should not have done this, but it's not impeachable".

Which is the same thing they would say if he had, "shot someone to death on 5th Ave"; as long as they won't lose any votes over it themselves, whatever Trump does is OK.

He implied it the Zelensky that people associated with the 2016 election hoax were in his cabinet.

"The FBI is a corrupt, clowncar."

So Trump asks a country he believes is corrupt to investigate a private company for corruption? And in a call about corruption, he doesn't mention corruption once? And this is the first time Trump has addressed corruption in over 2.5 years in office? And he's passed on Erdogan, Putin, Kim, MBS, and Kim? And the private company he wants investigated is connected to his presumptive chief political rival?

That doesn't pass the smell test. Or the laugh test.

What the minority report DIDN'T say: Yeah, he did it. But he was just too dumb to know any better.

That would probably be closer to the truth and more believable. I think Trump just reverted back to the technique he used when he was a real estate developer. He knew he had something that Zelensky wanted and used that to his advantage. It is extortion by any other name.

He calls himself a showman. Well, maybe in Peoria. But on the world stage he's just another fruitcake who saw an opportunity to grab the one thing he's always wanted even more than money ~ POWER! And no price was too high to get it. Vladimir Putin was very obliging.

That is the real quid pro quo.

Speaking of President Trump's concern about sending foreign aid to countries that have possible ties to corruption:
Currently Israel is receiving over six times the foreign aid as Ukraine and Israel's prime minister is under indictment for fraud and bribery.
No doubt President Trump will be putting a hold on Israel's aid until this gets cleared up, right Ira?

LOL!

I'd venture to say that every single member of the FBI is a more loyal, more intelligent citizen than Ira (I'll kiss Trump's Ass) Goldberg.

Saying Ukraine is among the 3 most corrupt countries in the world is so ridiculoud. Yes they have corruption but there are places on the planet that make Ukraine look like a paradise. For Donald Trump to talk about other nations being corrupt is hilarious, he is as corrupt as he thinks he can get away with, he'd be Russia if he thought we would accept that. His goal is to be Vladimir Putin and everyone knows it and Putin is the epitome of corruption, probably why his ex-wife lives in Germany.

Israel has the best terrorist intel in the world, far past what we're capable of. They regularly remind us of this and threatening to pass along what they learn is how they get us to continue funding their universal healthcare. Trump is no different than any other president of the past 40 years in this regard though his rhetoric may be more bombastic.

He was skeptical of Ukraine but not, apparently, of Russia. Hilarious! Are there actually people who take such stupid arguments seriously, I mean, other than Ira Goldberg hahahahahahaha!
