Amazon-owned home surveillance company Ring gave law enforcement a heat map that let police see all devices installed in an area, allowing them to view users down to the street level, according to a new report from CNET.

Its interesting this would get the front page.

But the government DMV selling your information doesn't, nor falsifying a FISA application ....

I have no issue with this, the legal question is they should have to subpoena the video from the home, not Ring (which is where it is stored, and I bet Ring techinically "owns" it).

People wanting to protect themselves and help capture criminals that are stealing packages, kidnapping should be encouraged.

also like to add... cops pay registered informers... paying $500 would be faster and cheaper than getting an actual subpoena...

could be a new business model for Ring....

You become a police State resource. Ring and the robot dogs could bring citizen telemetry finite enough to catch any man hunted.

Consider the savings of immediate capture.
