If you want me to find common ground with republicans or conservatives, they have to start by acknowledging reality, facts and truth. There are no "alternative facts", there is objective reality. Global warming is real, the current occupant of the white house is an unfit conman criminal. There is a major problem with guns in our country. Healthcare needs to be fixed.
I am more than willing to compromise and find common solutions on many topics-abortion, guns, national security, immigration, but I cannot do that until the other side admits to reality, to facts. I can freely admit that there are valid opposing views on these and many topics and we as a nation can and should work on them.
It seems to me that conservatives, once upon a time, were willing to work with and compromise on issues. I don't know when they changed, the 90's with Gingrich's strategy, during Bush the Lesser's time in office, when Obama was elected, I don't know. Using the ACA as an example, the Republicans refused any and all efforts to work with Democrats to build a workable solution. Instead we got an imperfect law that the Republicans have tried everything to dismantle. Meanwhile, we have no solution to the healthcare problem.
I'm sorry, while liberals and democrats share a part of the blame in the divide, when one side is more interested in power than reality or fighting an obviously corrupt president, I don't know where common ground can be found.
