Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Thursday, December 05, 2019

A large Facebook page, Rowdy Republican, has been using incendiary right-wing memes to push dangerous misinformation about diabetes to millions of Facebook users. Nearly three months after the page's tactics were exposed by Popular Information, Facebook has finally taken down the Rowdy Republican page, and a related page called A Conservative Nation.

Initially, the post would have no mention of diabetes, presumably to encourage maximum engagement. But a few hours after posting, once the meme was rocketing around the Facebook platform, the post would be edited to include a link to a diabetes scam.

If facts mattered, diabetes is a dietary problem, not a medical problem.
There is no medical cure for diabetes.

"There is no medical cure for diabetes."

There are plenty of ways to ameliorate the symptoms. Can you name them?

I said "cure," not ameliorate. The meanings are entirely opposite.

But since you ask. Death works every time. Just listen to your doctor.

Sorry to hear about your Facebook page, Ray.

Not to the symptom sufferer.

You're pretending there's no difference between losing your foot, or keeping it.

Ray pretends a lot.

Like right now. He is pretending to be a human. With a brain.

Doesn't look like he is fooling anyone except himself.

Not to the symptom sufferer.

To cure diabetes is to eliminate all symptoms. The body returns to healthy homeostasis. Blood sugar returns to normal levels without medical intervention.

To ameliorate symptoms is to manage the symptoms of diabetes without addressing the root cause which happens to be poor dietary choices.

Hey! What do I care. Eat all the junk food you want and continue to take your insulin injections. Kill yourself. The less liberals the better.

Stop giving online medical advice. Because you suck at it.

Type 1 diabetes cannot be cured.

Type 1 diabetes requires lifelong treatment once it develops. The body does not produce enough insulin, and blood glucose levels remain high unless a person takes steps to manage high blood sugar.

Type 2 can be managed but that does not cure the body as it does not naturally produce enough insulin. Managing your diet only allows you to control it. Not cure it.

That being said, diet and nutrition are important in preventing diseases. Also in recovery.

Too bad that is Not covered under preventive care. It could save us billions of dollars as we struggle to come to grips with our current health crisis (that we are still in denial about).

True.

Only if you allow your body to become dependent on medical nostrums. Then you become dependent for life. That's how the medical establishment makes its money.

Stop giving online medical advice. Because you suck at it.

I'm very good at managing my health. That's why I never get sick.

It only means people have to take responsibility for their health. As for costs, it's far cheaper than health insurance and doctors. My costs over the past thirty years have been zero.

If fetuses would simply eat better while in the womb, they would not be born with diabetes.

I saw this headline today on Marketwatch.

Blue scrub vs. blue collar jobs? No contest. Health care is growing a whole lot faster than manufacturing

If money could buy health, Americans would be the healthiest people on the planet. Instead, the US ranks 64th.

Not everyone's as brilliant or lucky as you. As soon as you're willing to admit that we can talk about what to do next.

#17 That Americans spend more on healthcare for inferior results is not an indictment of medical care. It's an indictment of how we pay for our care.

Sorry Joe. The link between diet and disease has been proven over and over again. A response like that tells me you're like most Americans who give no thought to food until they're hungry.

#20 I was referring to your #17 which seemed to imply that seeking out medical care resulted in poor health. If that wasn't your argument then my mistake. But your inference about my diet is incorrect.

You read me right. Our bodies treat Big Pharma medications as foreign substances that interfere with the body's attempt to heal itself. When they build up, they sap our energy, weaken our immune system and create a new set of ills. Only our body can heal itself providing it has the right stuff.

But your inference about my diet is incorrect.

I have no idea what you eat. It just appears to me you don't see the link between diet and disease. There is an enormous misinformation out there.

OK, the real story. Youtube has demonetized many sites and as a response those producers now sell products within their programs. Looks like these guys picked a looser as an advertiser or chose a product to sell that was crap. One of my grand kids has type one diabetes, and no amount of diet or trace minerals will change that. He will die in less than 72 hours without insulin.
