Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Former VP Joe Biden, in an interview with "Axios on HBO," promised to prohibit his son Hunter from cashing in on his name and position overseas in the future if he wins the presidency. Biden told Axios' Mike Allen that he has not dug into what Hunter actually did while working in Ukraine. "I don't know what he was doing. I know he was on the board. I found out he was on the board after he was on the board and that was it," Biden told us.

Asked whether he wants to get to the bottom of it, Biden said, "No. Because I trust my son."

Hunter, who had recently been discharged from the Navy for drug use, was hired by Burisma and paid more than $80,000 a month despite the fact that Hunter had no relevant experience. When Hunter was hired by Burisma, the company was mired in a corruption scandal and VP Biden was the point man on Ukraine for the United States.

For the record, Hunter seems like a candidate for the least trustworthy person in the entire world. Hunter hooked up with his brother's widow, fathered a child behind her back and denied the baby was his.

He also was discharged from the Navy when a police report found "a small white and brown pipe approximately 3-4 inches long," in his rental car with credit cards, a driver's license, a Delaware attorney general badge, a cellphone, and a U.S. Secret Service business card. An officer also found "a small ziplock bag with a white powdery substance inside all sitting on the passenger seat with Robert Biden's drivers license, AG badge and credit cards."

Fingerprinting was inconclusive on the bag and pipe and no charges were filed.

Watching this interview, it seems as if Biden and Prince Andrew have the same media team.

Take it up with Axios and the Biden Campaign, they felt it was important enough to attempt to address this "irrelevancy" with a full interview, which came off about as well as the "His Royal Dryness" interview which got Prince Andrew canned.

Sorry to "break" this to you, but no matter how hard you wish it to be, this isn't going away.

This falls into the same "damned if he does, damned if he doesn't " position that Obama was consistently in with his critics. Joe Biden is guilty of not micromanaging and knowing every detail of his adult son's life, and he trusts him enough that he doesn't need to.

An issue that was in the news lately and he was heckled about recently was brought up in an interview and he addressed it.

@#4 ... Sorry to "break" this to you, but no matter how hard you wish it to be, this isn't going away. ...

You're not "breaking" anything to me.

I was just curious what was the point of your raising this issue.

I asked, and you told me... you think it is an issue that is not going away.

I'd tend to agree.

The Republicans have shown they are able to latch on to issues that are baseless, and use that to dog a President for his term. So why not do a similar thing for something that has very bad optics, even though nothing illegal has been shown to have occurred.

It's par for the course in today's political environment.

Yea! Who dies Biden think he is, Trump?

If Republicans can keep birtherism going for 8 years and Benghazi for 3, they can definitely hound Biden about something no one cared about prior to yesterday, until they day after the general election.

The Republicans have shown they are able to latch on to issues that are baseless,

"It will surprise no one who has lived in rural America, or pays attention to Trump's tweets, that Trump voters are more likely to believe conspiracy theories."

"Add to the equation a steady diet of fringe media with no accountability itself and you have a rural population that largely believes Trump"

They're a bunch of suckers.

Not being able to describe details of Hunter's work is part of their separation of actions to keep things honest. Trump still knows everything about his businesses because he is not separated from them.

I remember that too, and my point is that it didn't work, most people saw through it just like other attempts to smear politicians with the behavior of adult relatives.

#15 | Posted by sentinel, Yea, but there is a big difference between a thirty something making millions on his daddy's name and office and getting an under age drink. The other shoe is about to drop. The Chinese hedge fund deal made Hunter a lot more. It is being investigated, I seriously doubt Hunter did anything illegal per say. But these enterprises look elitist. Unearned privilege is abhorrent to most of us. Most coke head never get a job with this kind of pay. Hunter could not get a job driving a school bus, yet he became a millionaire. Must be nice.

Hunter is not running for President. But go ahead and keep attacking the candidate's family. How well has this tactic worked every time in the past it's been used against members of either party?

I posted before and I stand by it - if the Dems move forward with impeachment, it destroys Biden as a candidate and will tarnish Obama as well. There is no way around this. That said, I think Biden and the Dems have known he is not viable in the general given his gaffes and the Hunter (Burisma ++) issues. I think the Dems are scrambling for a back up and we see the Hillary Clinton polls popping up again - clearly the efforts a couple week back were the trial balloon and despite the total lack of support at the time, she probably is still their most viable option.

But, there is no way Biden escapes this election cycle with his reputation intact unless the Dems never vote on impeachment and he quietly exits the race for "health reasons".

No, but his corrupt father is. We have never had a situation where a president used his office to enrich his perpetually screw-up cokehead kid by directing US policy in their favor. Imagine the outcry if Clinton's crackhead half brother Roger was put in a no-show BOD position paying $80,000/month - it would have been completely justified and EVERYONE would know it is not Roger doing the dirty deeds - it would be Bill doing it to help him out....which is exactly what we have with Dirty Joe Biden.

YES. Hunter was hired by Burisma in order to purchase his father. Hunter actually didn't do anything illegal - he brought nothing to the table other than being the conduit by which Burisma purchased Joe Biden.

"Hunter was hired by Burisma in order to purchase his father."

At most, it shows a private foreign company thought they could get special favors from a US politician by hiring one of his relatives. In many cases, that's probably true, but unless you can show Joe Biden actually gave them special favors then you've got nothing here. His participation in calling for a prosecutor to be removed doesn't even meet the threshold of reasonable evidence, because the international community and the IMF were already calling for that prosecutor to be removed for the exact opposite reason. Joe Biden would have to be some kind of Jedi mastermind to orchestrate that type of conspiracy. Are you suggesting that's what he is?

That is your opinion. If the Senate holds a trial, we will see this play out in front of the US voters and my prediction is that it ends Biden politically.
