Also from the linked article:

"Imagine Joseph and Mary separated at the border and Jesus no older than two taken from his mother and placed behind the fences of a Border Patrol detention center," she continued, adding: "In the Claremont United Methodist Church nativity scene this Christmas, the Holy Family takes the place of the thousands of nameless families separated at our borders."
Welcome to the age of Trump.

The retort is a good teaching tool for political science classes. The examples of political propaganda are legion. This one is good. Uses children--always a winner. Which is why climatistas and open borders advocates are weaponizing children so much these days. It works especially well with women. Throw in Christmas, which remains our most popular holiday despite the efforts of Christian-hating leftists, who will shamelessly exploit Christian good will.

Merry Christmas!

It illustrates perfectly what the Trump administration is doing and places it in a context to force all Christians to examine their own consciences.
Merry Christmas? With children being held in cages? They probably wished each other Merry Christmas back in Nazi Germany while they were murdering Jews. Think about that. Jesus was a Jew.

Two-thousand years of Jesus and Trump Christians still haven't got over their hatred of those worse off than they are.

They weren't migrants, they weren't even refugees.

They were travelling because the government forced them to, so it coulde ironically take a census. Joseph actually came from Bethlehem, his lineage was the royal family of David.

They arrived late in the evening, if they arrived earlier in the day, they would have found a place to stay..

They even lie about their stories, its hilarious.

You don't even know the part where they became refugees. It was after Jesus's birth when King Herrod heard about a "new King of the Jews" and sent his men out to kill all boy babys and Jesus, Mary and Joseph fled to Egypt. The census didn't make them refugees and their stay at the manger didn't either. Probably just a myth but it is in the writings of Matthew.

Jesus, Mary, and Joseph earned the status of refugees, feeling political violence, when they fled to Egypt to escape Herod. They were only able to return after Herod died.

No Christian needs to or would want to lie about stories concerning Jesus as well-known as these.

The problem is that they're not YOUR stories; the Bible is not YOUR book, so things Trumpically inconvenient you decide must be lies.

The cure for this is simple education. You don't need to convert.

This nativity scene correctly displays Trump era treatment of families.

It seems Methodists have found a way to keep the faith and be socially engaged at the same time.

Bravo to them.

Democrats would never disparage Islam, Judaism, Buddhism, or Hinduism for fear of inciting or offending followers.

But they have no problem alternately embracing, pummeling, or misrepresenting Christianity at every turn to suit their narrative.

Lol... owned by godless liberals.

That is the ironic thing, liberals in general are educated about the bible and religion but they are not really considered very "religious".

Conservatives, on the other hand, are very ignorant of the bible and the context of what was going on in the world when it was written, but decide to "live their life" based upon this book they have only had other people tell them about (and tell them what to think about it).

It is sort of like the Constitution. Conservatives loudly proclaim to conform to and follow the Constitution, but really have no idea what it actually says. While liberals think it is a living document that can adapt and change to suit our changing society and technology (so you have to think critically about what is in it), but they generally are the most aware of what the original Constitution said.

Here in S. Florida we had a case that could be used to illustrate what the Trump administration has been doing. A family had the Nativity Scene on their front lawn, someone came along and stole Baby Jesus.

No doubt a leftist. They hate Christmas and would love to eradicate its Christian content.

Could have been a former "classical liberal buddhist" "atheist" turned rwing nutjob.

"Democrats would never disparage"

What? This is a Church display.

Do you think it's disrespectful of Cons to act un-Christ-like, but to use Christianity to get votes?

Jimmy Carter is a leftist and the best Christian I am aware of.

Illegal alien sob story of the day using a nativity scene. The illegal alien apologists are getting ridiculous.

"No doubt a leftist."

More likely a right wing Christian who needed Jesus for their own lawn display. Leftists don't go around stealing Jesus, we respect freedom of religion and don't mess with the symbols people use to honor their religion unless, of course, honoring their religion means taking rights away from women or any other group. Then we will criticize loudly, we will protest, we will ridicule, we will do lots of things but we don't steal baby Jesus. I searched my whole house, not one single baby Jesus.

While it can be debated whether or not Mary Joseph and Jesus went from one country to another there's no denying that they were seeking Asylum in a land where Herod couldn't reach them. This is the goal of most if not all those who have traveled often on foot from Central America to the United States.

The church is spot-on and those who don't understand this need to go out and get themselves a Bible.

Actually, he was a bit to the right of the last good Republican president (Ike). But yes, the most actually Christian politician I know of.

And the Right crucified him.
