Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Wednesday, December 11, 2019

The politics of climate action are as entrenched and complex as the phenomenon itself, and [Greta] Thunberg has no magic solution. But she has succeeded in creating a global attitudinal shift, transforming millions of vague, middle-of-the-night anxieties into a worldwide movement calling for urgent change.

You pathetic losers who seem to despise her so much like Don Jr. obviously does, so what are you losers doing to combat global climate change? Anything? The water levels down the street from my condo keep rising whether you idiots want to recognize it or not. At least Greta is recognizing the threat to all of us and trying to create a movement to force leaders to deal with it, what are you critics of her doing? Oh, yeah, nothing. Nothing but criticizing those who are trying to do something before it is too late to do anything. When the children have to lead the adults the adults should, at least, be willing to listen to those children. Our President won't even recognize there is a problem, won't even try to rein in emissions and y'all applaud him? How do you so willingly encourage the polluters to destroy the environment that your children and grand children will have to live in? Are y'all bereft of conscience? It truly does seem so.

Must be exasperating for Trump to watch a 16 year old become the most respected leader in the world. But, as we all know, he knows, as do I, we'll be long dead before the disasters occur which will make life unlivable on Earch and Donald Trump really just doesn't give a crap. I don't understand why he doesn't care about the world he will leave for his kids but that is apparently the case. I'm getting pretty old but I can fall in behind a 16 year old who is going to lead our world to an environmental decision to either deal with the problems or get out of the way so that younger folks, who will deal with it, can lead. People like Trump, Putin, Xi are all dinosaurs who need to step aside so that the young people who will live long enough to actually have to deal with the environmental disasters we are creating can act aggressively to prevent them. Economic growth will not prevent environmental catastrophe, no, profound change in expectations will be absolutely necessary.

Why do you believe that? If we had solar panels on the roof of every house/business and over every parking lot we would produce more than enough power to run this country. And if everyone drove a Tesla, then they would be running off that clean power.

The only issue becomes energy storage. And that could be achieved by things like closed loop hydro power.

One Tesla doesn't really do much. 300 million will change the composition of the energy used in this country. It is just a matter of scale.

Poll Finds Most People Would Rather Be Annihilated By Giant Tidal Wave Than Continue To Be Lectured By Climate Change Activists

U.S.--A new study found that most people would rather be annihilated by a giant tidal wave caused by climate change than continue to be lectured by climate change activists.

Study participants were given the option of having the earth flooded by massive tidal waves or listening to virtue-signaling, smarmy lectures by environmentalists for the next decade. Over 87% of respondents selected, "Bring on the tidal wave." A few people said they'd rather take the lectures, but after hearing a few minutes of the lectures, quickly changed their minds. Several respondents rushed straight to the ocean, arms outstretched, and asked the sea to take us all.

"Come, sweet death," one man scrawled on the survey response form after hearing just 30 seconds of a Greta Thunberg lecture. "O, sweet release that ends my suffering on this mortal plane! Embrace me in your salty arms, great wave of destiny."

"Honestly, between Greta and the climate change, I'll take the climate change," said one man in Minnesota. "Heck, it's Minnesota, don't ya know. We could use a little warming. But even if it turns out to be catastrophic -- I'll take the tidal wave."

"Good luck replacing the fossil-fuel fleet with Teslas in 10 years, 20 years, or whatever the latest drop-dead date is."

You sound exactly like the isolationists at the beginning of WWII. Who would have predicted that we could have defeated both the Japanese and the Germans in five years, built the strongest military in the world and become economically the richest nation in the world? Americans need to stop listening to defeatists like Nulli and start listening to forward thinkers like Greta.
When dealing with our foes in WWII the fight seemed unwinnable at first but our people supported our efforts, in many ways, and five years later we were victorious, the world had an entirely new model and democracy was that model even in Germany and Japan. Defeatists are always there to tell us we can't but Greta will also be there to tell us we must for future generations. I have 1,000 times more respect for those like Greta than I do for defeatists like Nulli. 16 years old and she is, in not a small way, leading the world in the right direction.

Nulli doesn't actually contradict anything Greta says, he's just an a*****e who can't stand anyone lecturing to him even though his race (the human race) desperately needs to listen to that lecture from someone young enough that she will have to deal with the consequences of people like Nulli who want to ignore climate change but are too old to ever have to deal with the real consequences of it.

#82 | POSTED BY SITZKRIEG

So... how do you make the hydrogen? There is not a bunch of hydrogen sitting around. Most of it is locked up in water. The other major source is natural gas. So, either you burn coal to make electricity to then split the hydrogen from water. Or you process natural gas (creating CO2) to release the hydrogen.

It is like I occasionally see people post articles about extracting CO2 from the air. The problem is that it generally uses MORE electricity to extract carbon from the air than you create by putting it there. And even just extracting CO2 takes energy, and then you have to find somewhere to store it (that it will never escape from), and unlike nuclear waste it will NEVER break down on its own (though, to be fair, not nearly as destructive per unit volume if it does escape).

"Honestly, between Greta and the climate change, I'll take the climate change," said one man in Minnesota. "Heck, it's Minnesota, don't ya know. We could use a little warming. But even if it turns out to be catastrophic -- I'll take the tidal wave."

Excellent example of conservative stupidity - all that matters is ME. And i'm too dumb to see how my country spending trillions due to climate catastrophes will affect me.

How could I? The republican party has gone so insane that things that would obviously have been satirical or humorous a few years ago are now their legitimate beliefs.

Your base literally thinks its better to have a russian puppet in the white house than a democrat.

To be fair, there have been a couple of times I have read a story, been sure it was some poor journalist being taken in by an Onion article, then realizing (usually still a little skeptically) that Trump ACTUALLY DID say that.

So, yes. With today's Republicans and how off the deep end they have gone it can be a little hard to recognize satire sometimes.

Like with Jeff and his "jokes". He thinks it is funny because he believes people will see that he is being too extreme to be believable. The problem is that his "extreme" is actually pretty normal for the average Republican (doesn't seem to realize that the party has done a hard right turn and left him behind) so it is NOT funny, and kinda hard to tell whether he is actually joking or just started drinking the mainstream conservative kool-aid.

I rank her award up there with Obama's Nobel Prize for showing up. And I still think that her parents should face legal consequences for whipping her up into a frenzy. If she/they are so worried about supposed environmental damage, how about direct her into the sciences and then maybe she can be help come up with some feasible replacements for fossil fuels. As it is, all she has done is to deaminize the very thing that has raised the standard of living for virtually every person on the planet. And I find it truly self-serving that she only seems to attack the West. Why won't she go to China, Russia or India with her protests? Could it be that they would likely either laugh at her ignorance or knock her in the head and throw her in a ditch?

I see where she is going to take some time off.

Catch up with her friends.

See a movie.

Remember when Trump argued the Paris accord was not tough enough and he was pulling the USA out and working for a a tougher more enforceable deal that would also be fairer to USA? www.reuters.com

Actually the US has made more progress than other countries. Especially India and China.
