Matt Bevin is no longer the governor of Kentucky, but his decisions continue to send shock waves through the state's legal system this week after he issued pardons for hundreds of people, some of whom committed violent offenses.

This is how the man takes revenge.

When Trump is out of office (standard caveat: if he agrees to go) look for the same behavior.

He is punishing Kentucky for not voting for him. He proves the voters were right.

#2: Yep, he tried to pull the rug out from under teachers and state workers. We still have high respect for our teachers and they deserve better than what they have to work with.

"His list includes a man convicted of reckless homicide, a convicted------------, a man who had murdered his parents at age 16 and a woman who threw her newborn in the trash after giving birth in a flea market outhouse. He also pardoned Dayton Jones, who was convicted in the sexual assault of a 15-year-old boy at a party,"

Bevin is scum.

No wonder the Orange Lard Barge loved him.

At least she gave birth to it.

Are last-minute pardons always this egregious? I feel like they aren't but maybe i haven't been paying attention?

#8 | Posted by JOE at 2019-12-13 04:20 PM | Reply

I ask because this is pretty mind-blowing and indefensible. I'm just trying to comprehend how you pardon these particular people.

For the most part, no.

The last time I recall a pardon-spree that was on the same level was at the end of Bill Clinton's presidency and that was 20 years ago.

This is clearly an outlier.

This is so wrong.

Just spitballing here. Does anyone think incumbent governors should have to get all their pardons in before election day? I realize this would deter some pardons that are susceptible to mischaracterization in campaign ads, but shouldn't pardons only be used in the rarest and most defensible cases anyway? The upside is this would definitely stop these sour grapes mass pardons like Bevin just did.

Bevin has made a lot of people angry with these pardons, including many in the law enforcement and legal communities. The front page of the Louisville paper quoted a sister of a murder victim in a huge headline that read "Matt Bevin can rot in hell."

It seems pretty stupid and petty to issue these pardons....at least the violent criminals.

And so ended a promising political career. It takes a lot of work to be so roundly hated...

Can't see democratic socialists objecting to this.

AOC calls for abolishing prisons: 'A cage is a cage ... humans don't belong in them'

"Some self-described socialist candidates running within the Democratic Party "advocate more extreme changes, such as abolishing the prison system," The New York Times reports.

Sure enough, the Boston Chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America has a "Prison Abolition Working Group" that meets monthly. The national DSA Twitter account has tweeted "we need to abolish the prison system." A resolution favoring the abolition of prisons reportedly passed last year at the DSA's annual convention. "

Trump's pardons of war criminals were probably worse than any Clinton pardon, though i haven't looked them all up to confirm that.

It was thoughtful of Bevin to pay tribute to the 300 lb orange pedo by pardoning a convicted------------.

#22 the most famous of his pardons was Marc Rich.

He pardoned a number of FALN terrorists ostensibly to curry favor with NY latinos to try and bolster Hillary's Senate campaign.

Wow, this is really gaining traction. Just watched the local news. Both parties are calling for an investigation into Bevin's actions.
