Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Saturday, December 14, 2019

As the House Judiciary Committee convened Friday to approve articles of impeachment against President Trump, a watch party got underway in a private Facebook group that rallies its more than 75,000 members around the banner, "THE TRUMP DEPLORABLES." The comments that streamed forth in the group illustrate how Trump's most ardent supporters have fashioned alternative realities for themselves -- as well as for Republican lawmakers aiming to turn the charge of corruption back on those investigating the president.

The feed " from Fox News, a major source of news for the president's supporters " showed the same scene available to viewers tuning in on various networks all over the country. But in the online enclave where the self-described "deplorables" had gathered to watch the committee vote, Democrats are the lawbreakers who "should be impeached," as one viewer wrote. Trump's word is truth. And the federal employees who question his version of events are not just mistaken, they are "scum," as Trump labeled members of the intelligence community at a rally this week in Hershey, Pa.
And sane people expect an impartial judgment of the factual evidence underpinning the impeachment allegations when there's a well-funded, incessant fog machine to make sure that doesn't happen? And that it's the Dems fault no Republicans agree with their understanding of what the facts prove?

Yeah, right....

The Democrats need to nominate an electable candidate. Trump will win if the Dems don't, and I don't think the Dems will.

OK, bonehead...what articles of impeachment, exactly, are not "fact-based"?

Hell...just name one lie...just one.

The frustration of the DR left has grown to crescendo proportions.

Their Hail Mary attempt to turn the public away from Trump hasn't worked.

Hey! When all else fails, there is always two time loser Hillary. Coming soon.

I've always said that elections are about as deep as beauty contests. You can't beat Trump for entertainment value and his wife for beauty.

That means the 85% unlawful FISA-702(16)(17) database abuse has likely been happening since 2012.

Impeachment has gotten wall-to-wall media coverage.

This conspiracy theory stuff is simply a rationalization for the Democrats failing to sufficiently sway public opinion.

What? Trump's poll numbers have remained remarkably flat. No post election high. No increases in support due to a "roaring economy". No bumps after his "tax cut" or any of the State of the Union addresses.

His support has always been solely from his mouth breathing base and isn't looking to change any time soon.

Record number of US citizens (54%) believe that Trump SHOULD BE impeached continues to climb - FACT.

Jeff? This conspiracy theory stuff is simply a rationalization for the Democrats failing to sufficiently sway public opinion.

Incongruent with actual FACTS AND EVIDENCE to the contrary yet continuing to make a dishonest case.

This is how far you've fallen into Trumpism. Just because you say it, doesn't make it true, and when exposed to the truth, you continue to broadcast the lies.

Tony,

Which lies are you specifically talking about?

The last aggregate polling I've seen had support for impeachment at 47%, which is about where it was at before Schiff started his impeachment push due to the Ukraine call.

I don't understand why you are so triggered by #15.

Talk about stupid. The impeachment is DOA in the Senate.
What the public thinks is irrelevant.

And I'll go out on a limb and say it was all for nothing. Trump is certain to be reelected.

Who cares what polls said in the freaking past when the subject is whether public opinion is moving in the PRESENT?

When presented with documented evidence that MORE PEOPLE are for impeachment in the most recent measurement of sentiment - and coming from a conservative outlet's own polling - you claim that PO hasn't appreciably moved in support of what today's poll shows, which is a LIE.

What hurts me the most about Ray is. He talks like a hermit recluse that lives in the boonies with his precious metals. Like in an old wooden house and all then he had the audacity to say he lives in an APARTMENT. I was very disappointed about that sad news.

Here's how I see it. Trump has railed and railed against mainstream media and anything negative against him is labeled as fake news. This causes his supporters to listen to only media and groups that are pro-Trump and promoting him.

There's a level of brainwashing that's going on.

People have to find the current state of politics kind of hilarious for what it has turned in to. Both parties are now claiming everything they do is fact and the other party is a demon. It's amazing how many facts both parties find that contradict each other. If nothing else, the current state of politics has to make people laugh. I mean, it's dangerously absurd and demoralizing, but it's easy to see the humor in it.

An outlier poll remains an outlier poll. The trend on popular support for impeachment continues to dwindle since October while the percentage who don't want impeachment continues to grow.
