Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Jennifer Rubin: On the eve of his impeachment, a stain that obviously torments him more than his enablers have let on, President Trump issued a rambling, unhinged and lie-filled letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.). It is difficult to capture how bizarre and frightening the letter is simply by counting the utter falsehoods (e.g., repeating the debunked accusation that Ukrainian prosecutor Viktor Shokin was fired for investigating Burisma; claiming Congress is obstructing justice; arguing he was afforded no rights in the process), or by quoting from the invective dripping from his pen. What is most striking is the spectacle of the letter itself -- a president so unhinged as to issue such an harangue; a White House entirely unable to stop him; a party so subservient to him that it would not trigger a search for a new nominee; a right-wing media bubble that will herald Trump for being Trump and excoriate Democrats for driving the president to this point; and a mainstream media not quite able to address a public temper-tantrum (resorting instead to euphemisms such as "scorching," "searing," etc.).

So I was entirely right: Donald Trump is eating his liver. Wish to hell he would finish it.

Trump doesn't have the attention span for a six page letter. Having said that, I believe Donald contributed the exclamation points.

So why would a coward who stole money from sick kids and veterans fear an impeachment to be tried in a Republican Senate?

Ah, yes. "Coward". Answered my own question.

Nor would he ever use words like 'egregious.' Multi-syllabic words are beyond his vocabulary abilities.

I don't care who wrote it. He signed it.

What I see is a compilation of all the "projection" he's done since he's been in office.

Trump is what I call a professional victim . . . what a sad failure of a human being he turned out to be.

On the bright side, he's finally started to crack up.

This is one for the history books . . . or his next mental evaluation.

I wish I could have been there to watch him dictate it to a fawning staff member.

This is comedy gold.

His next one will be done by Dr. Vinny Boombatz.

#14 | Posted by anton at 2019-12-17 09:20 PM | Reply

He didn't write it. He couldn't write a 6 sentence letter.
Also there wasn't enough spelling errors. He signed it, that's it.

The Dems must be printing this thing and posting it on walls.

#17 | Posted by BruceBanner at 2019-12-17 10:11 PM | Reply

Donald Trump wrote a letter today that will become a historical marker that the Electoral College of the United States of America elevated a mentally-deficient man into the Presidency in 2017, who was summarily impeached in 2019 because he failed to functionally understand the US Constitution; to which he swore an oath to protect and defend while faithfully executing its laws; charged with having done just the opposite.

Hope that was the legacy this cry-for-help letter was shooting for because that's the one it's going to leave for history's sake.

ABORTED

"He didn't write it. He couldn't write a 6 sentence letter.

Of course he didn't write it. Trump can't even structure a sentence let alone a whole paragraph. This letter was much too professional. He probably just barnstormed what he wanted to say to Steven Miller and Miller did the actual composition.

We all know Trump's not right in the head. He's a petulant child. This letter just drives it home.

#20 | Posted by Twinpac at 2019-12-17 10:44 PM | Reply | Newsworthy 5

The other thing that drove home to me is that the letter erased all doubt about Trump's pathology. It convinced me once and for all that Trump actually believes he telling the truth. For a long time I thought it was just political stagecrafting. But now I can see that I was wrong. He truly is a pathological liar, by every textbook definition of the word. I don't try to understand how he got that way. It just is what it is and that alone makes him unfit to remain in office for any longer than it takes to get him out.

Many people have been close to a person with Trump's sickness. I'm one of them. The person I knew ended his life in blood and tried to take others with him. If he were raised from the dead he would tell you that he was right and everyone else was wrong, that he was unfairly persecuted and that everyone (except him) got what they deserved.

That is completely unfair, and you have no reason to believe that was true.

It was obviously done in jumbo sharpie. In font that was 2 inches tall.

I could only make it through three pages of that letter.

Righties really are simple morons content with schoolyard nonsense as "governance" because they actually think reality teevee is real.

It's kind of embarrassing that my childrens' history classes will be dedicating time to explore the mind-numbing spectacle that is the Trump "presidency." I use that term lightly because it's more of a babysitting job where everyone prays we don't get nuked than an actual person leading the nation.

Sheeple has been in denial for a quite while now. Recovery is doubtful at this point. It's a shame to see a perfectly good mind wasted like that.

You still expect people to take you seriously and are surprised when all you warrant is to be called, truthfully, stupid.

Gee, I wonder why...

You support and defend a lifelong conman, liar and swindler while maintaining that everybody BUT him is a corrupt, lying, dishonest actor.

So no, you don't deserve to be taken seriously and you DO deserve every ounce of ridicule, derision and contempt that's aimed your way.

So GFY, idiot.

Murder-suicide is a plausible exit for Trump. I usually think he'll go after Melania but if there's a Kindergaarten nearby I'd worry.

If Donald Trump did commit suicide that would be the first selfless act he has taken in his entire pathetic narcissistic life. The world would be a better place.
