Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Friday, December 27, 2019

Ostensibly, for the past ten years, our economy has been recovering from the 2008 collapse. During the past few years, our comeback seems to have gained momentum. All the official indicators say we're back in boom times, with a bull market, low unemployment and steady job growth. But there is an alternative set of data that depicts a different America, where the overlooked majority struggles from month to month.

For every boom theres an inflation problem. For every dollar created without justification, inflation rises on the American populous. It keeps taking more to do less with. it's the ordinary now to most Americans to go to the store and feel the pinch. the deficit is the problem.

"A third of the U.S. population has no savings and another third has saved less than $1,000."

What could possibly go wrong with an economy like that!?

Yeah.

They should probably invest that $1000 into a plane ticket to a socialist paradise like Venezuela, dontcha think?

I love it how you guys are so absolutely incapable of discussing the wrongs of our society and system.

It's either we stay with this and ignore the problems or go to Venezuela.

I can't think of a more toxic mindset.

That corporate strategy is the reason why you average person has zero savings and is living pay check to pay check.

This article doesn't really dig into why people are making crappy wages their whole lives. How many people would stay at a job that pays 12.00 an hour for 10-15 years? Only reason I could see is if they have a disability or are an illegal. Most people after a couple of years can obtain a GED or additional training and move on to another company that pays more.

Couldn't possibly be due to economic depression in much of the country.

That may be part of it but what about individual life choices that keep these people from advancing to a higher salary. I am pretty sure there are other jobs besides the dollar store and burger king in these towns. Why didn't they learn to be a plumber or an Electrician or some other trade that would have paid more? They could have did what I did. Join the Army. Which I still recommend to any young person. Just saying the area is economically depressed isn't an excuse to me. People are still making good salaries in these areas too.

The Fed has pumped over $3 trillion in loans to Wall Street, propping up the stock market and giving the illusion that everything is hunky dorey with the economy. When companies have PE rations no rational investor would touch, but their price keeps rising, you know we're headed for trouble.

Meanwhile, manufacturing has had a horrible year, farmers are hurting, and a huge stock market correction is likely next year or early 2021.

Then Democrats will have to clean up the mess, as usual.

The real economy is working out fine for anyone with an ounce of personal responsibility. If you won't get your $0.25 bump working at MickyD's, that is on you. Find a different job. If you have a clear employment record and don't have a criminal or drug history, you will have the chance to make a lot more money after only 6 months of proven employment. If you are bitching because you are stuck with only 20 hours/week - get a new job or take a second job.

The only people struggling are the people that are ALWAYS struggling. We have bell curves for intelligence and ambition - unfortunately, 20% of our population will always trail behind - that is just how the world works. So, I am sorry that your mom won't up your allowance for keeping the basement clean Corky - but rather than try to get more money out of her for performing a task that is not very valuable to the employer, try gaining actual skills and then find a job that values them. Lord knows you have a ton of time on your hands. So, put down the joystick (yes, both of them), put down the bong - and go learn some useful skills. 6 months of training in the trade would be 100x more valuable than the money you wasted on your liberal arts degree and the employment desert you currently find yourself in. Who knows, with a job and your own place, you might even be attractive to the opposite sex and you can become a functional member of society.

Note to dumbass... there are several people who post here who pay more in taxes each year than you make as income. Just sayin.

Goldbutt obviously is in denial over his former fav rag Forbes' economic analysis.

Of course, he has no rebuttal to it, just a lot of nonsensical words.

Why don't you give a listen to Reagan's own Budget Dirs on Repube economics.... not that it would penetrate your thick skull.

How about 2008? You going to pretend we didn't have to clean up the mess the GOP left behind? If so then you're simply a liar.
