Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

A study published in the journal Neuropsychologia has shown that religious fundamentalism is, in part, the result of a functional impairment in a brain region known as the prefrontal cortex. The findings suggest that damage to particular areas of the prefrontal cortex indirectly promotes religious fundamentalism by diminishing cognitive flexibility and openness"a psychology term that describes a personality trait which involves dimensions like curiosity, creativity, and open-mindedness.

Political buh-liefs, fer instance.

Nulli, he's an atheist that goes to midnight mass at a catholic church because its a beautiful religion.

I see nothing logically wrong with this.

I too am an atheist, but see the lamarckian evolution in religion, even Islam. While it goes against much of what I believe I do understand the appeal.

#17 | POSTED BY BILLJOHNSON

Not sure if this was directed at me. In case it was, I have zero hate for Christianity. Matter of fact, my wife is a devout Christian and I love her dearly. I do have some Ill feelings for people claiming to be Christians and use their gospels to take advantage of weaker people, financially and emotionally.

While we're on the subject of hating on a particular religion, do you see the regulars here identifying as a Christian but seeding hate for Islam?

#19 | Posted by lfthndthrds at 2020-01-01 12:16 PM | Reply | Newsworthy 1

Lft,

"claiming to be Christians"

You're judge all Christians by these people who put money before anything?

"regulars here identifying as a Christian but seeding hate for Islam?"

Is that what you question is going on?

It's not that their religion is centuries behind the times and still barbaric?

You think the problem is Christians sowing hate?

Really?

"You're judge all Christians by these people who put money before anything?"

Where did you even remotely come up with that out of #19?

"You think the problem is Christians sowing hate?"

I didn't say that - you did. I simply asked if you saw that among some of the members on this site.

The problem is hypocrites claiming to be one religion or another. Twisting religion to their purposes. I fundamentally have a problem with religion in general based on the fact it inevitably abused by men claiming to be religious leaders.

And yes Lft is right. Already stated he has zero hate for Christians you dolt. Money or twisted teachings - one and the same. As for Islam - it isn't their religion. Just like it isn't Christianity when Christians slaughter and neglect people in need. What have you done Christian recently?

I've come to believe that unless you fall at the feet of the church and sell your soul to Jesus, Bill views you as a hell bound, christian hating, sinner.. Nothing you can say will make him believe otherwise. And this is the real issue I have with "christians". Most have no problem with throwing you in a lake of burning sulphur is you don't agree.

My wife has never behaved this way and I'd never have married her if she did. She believes that all paths are right in connecting with the infinite. Buddy, Mohammad, Vishnu, Christna etc.... choose your path and leave everyone else alone...

My wife refuses to join a church because of the shallowness and financial requirements to build structures that mean absolutely nothing.

Mighty white? Now you peel open the wound of racism? Screw you Bill.. You're a sorry excuse for a human being and I'm not sorry for saying it..

The Rio PMP300 suffered from a few design flaws. The battery compartment door flap is notorious for breaking. The battery cover is difficult to repair due to the stress caused by the spring-loaded battery compartment and the fragile plastic used for the door clips.

"Nulli's an atheist and he has plenty of brain damage."

Atheists aren't immune from fundamentalism, it's just a different religion. If you "know" what God is and you "know" His will on Earth, you are probably suffering from mental illness treatable with drugs. Humans cannot "know" what God is or what his will "is." They can believe they "know" but it is impossible for them to actually "know." That is why I am an Agnostic, my "religion" is based on the fact that I don't "know" if there is a God nor what His will on Earth is. I can only make calculated guesses and whether or not they admit it, everyone else is in the same position I am in. BTW, it's the same position Sister Theresa considered herself to be in.
