Across 32 countries surveyed by Pew Research Center, a median of 64% say they do not have confidence in Trump to do the right thing in world affairs, while just 29% express confidence in the American leader. In nearly all nations where trends are available, Trump receives lower ratings than his predecessor, Barack Obama, who 64% expressed confidence in to direct America's role in the world in a positive manner.

*It's not, strictly speaking, personal: the Pew Research Center's study found the lack of confidence in Trump was "driven in part by opposition to his policies," including opposition to the president's rejection of efforts to combat the climate crisis and his abandonment of the international nuclear agreement with Iran.

* Among prominent world leaders, Russia's Vladimir Putin and China's Xi Jinping enjoy low international confidence, but Trump received "more negative ratings than either the Russian or Chinese leader."

* The United States' image abroad has remained relatively steady, but in most countries, favorable views of the United States were higher in the Obama era.

If Trump's goal was to command global respect and dramatically improve the country's international standing, this has to be seen as one of his most spectacular failures.

Not surprising that Germany, run by Putin's puppet, Angela Merkel, is at the top of the list.

Eberly.

This thread is probably a good one regarding what we were just discussing.

Trump has his best approval ratings in the Philippines, Israel and Kenya.

Who would have though Obama's brethren and childhood friends would have such high support for Trump.

They really shouldn't publish this kind of stuff.

Heading that Obama beat him will only make him enact some "brilliant", ie spiteful, petty and belligerent, idea against counties at the top of the list.

Doubly so if they're an ally. He only goes after allies.

#2 not surprising that you'd be too stupid to admit Trump deserves it.

IF, as your article state, "If Trump's goal was to command global respect," they're barking up the wrong tree.

Trump's goal was to command global FEAR. (of him, of America, of U.S. military)

It's all he knows.

As Sulla said, "No better friend, no worse enemy". The rest of the world had a low opinion of TR, until we ENDED the Spanish Empire. Thought that Wilson was an effeminate academic, until he successfully mobilized the United States to fight the last years of WWI and ended the German and Ottoman Empire. They thought FDR was a weak sickly cripple, Until the Axis were history. They considered Reagan an ignorant cowboy, until the wall came down and we buried the Soviet Empire.
Best hint we are on the right track, if the European elite poo poo it, we are likely on the right track.

I am so tired of all this winning and worldwide respect the Orange Lard Barge is creating.

"The rest of the world had a low opinion of TR, until we ENDED the Spanish Empire."

That was McKinley, Herodotus-Doofus. As of summer, 1899 Roosevelt was governor of NY and NOT POTUS.

You are obviously not a historian. Especially when you try to equate your cult hero --------- Trump with someone who at least had the guts to face a loaded gun in TR.

Sure, the glorious Trump stuck his grubby little fingers into models mouths to check their teeth during beauty pageants. That was kinda dangerous. I guess you think those sorts of things are what great men are made of.

They should have bit those fingers off.

The poll numbers would be lower if Dems weren't trying so hard to sabotage our country. Sure, Trump is an idiot and does stupid things. But the rest of the world wouldn't know about 90% of it if it weren't for Dems and Liberal media making sure that they spew everything negative they can about Trump. They did it with W, as well. Almost every other country is just like us where we have no idea what is going on 90% of the time with other countries. The most we know is from the media that is released from that country itself.

Is that a good thing? Nope. Am I arguing that the polls are wrong? Nope. I'm just putting logic out there since Dems are so devoid of it these days. Their "govern by emotion" has positives but it also has negative, regardless if you want to ignore them or think they don't exist just because you don't like them.

I believe that the proper word to signify my agreement to this statement would be

BINGO !!

The other reason could be the well documented fact that when it comes to various "give-aways" and foreign grabs into our tax wealth, what the "world" has a bigger problem with is that

this POTUS has said "uh, not so fast jack "

Am I to take it you are claiming that conservatives didn't "spew everything negative that they can about" Obama during his tenure?

If you are, then please explain your basis for believing that conservatives didn't try to "sabotage the country" under Obama, but you believe that liberals are doing it under Trump. Links and citations would be appreciated.

If you are not claiming that, then why do you think it matters? Is it because conservatives are incompetent? Were conservatives trying, but just too stupid to find the information, or to effectively spread it???

To the best of my knowledge, of the many hundreds of people I know, I doubt I know even five people who would express confidence in Trump's judgment. He is a narcissistic buffoon.

Love all those polls out there, as after all, they did let us know that hillary is POTUS......

#14 | POSTED BY HUMTAKE AT 2020-01-10 12:20 PM | REPLY | FLAG:"

Really, that was your answer, right there.

Not only does he do and say stupid things, he does so in the full glare of the world's press, not just the US press. Do you think Twitter is a US phenomena and that his absurd boasting and lying is not picked up by overseas press? Or perhaps you favor censorship so that only flattering reporting of Trump is allowed overseas?

Trump has Tweeted, among many other things, that his "two greatest assets have been mental stability and being, like, really smart"; that he is a " very stable genius"; and that he has " great and unmatched wisdom." These are his own words to the world, no press, liberal or otherwise required and presumably reflect his judgment of himself.

Clearly you accept him at his word. I, on the other hand, look at his daily pronouncements and actions and see someone who is in some shape or form mentally impaired and totally unfit for purpose. So, apparently, do 64% of the subject polls respondents.

I'm pretty sure that percentage is higher, the folks who haven't gone full Drumpf are all just going to toe the line so they don't get kicked out of the mob. Part of owning the libs is lying about what you really think about Drumpf. It's part of the game. As soon as they get the signal that it's OK to turn on him, they'll do it, so long as they have a way to save face.
