Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

An apartment was offered rent-free in an online advertisement in exchange for the tenant having sex twice a week with the landlord. The flat was posted online on a site which contains ads including cars, fashion items and job listings. The advertisement read: "Looking for a female tenant who's into sharing their body twice a week for payment." It was spotted by a journalist at 'The Echo' newspaper in Cork. She contacted the landlord who said the property had central heating and its own bathroom but she would have to share a kitchen in the main part of the house. He said he expected "nothing other than satisfaction twice a week".

So - you Libs think a woman 'owns' her body to the extent that she can kill a fetus inside her but she cannot have sex for rent money? Seems like a hypocritical stance to take.

So #2 is now pro-choice.

Article is behind a register wall.

But judging by the excerpt, what is the issue here? A woman's body is hers to do with what she wants, right? Isn't that the feminist's mantra? Or should that mantra be changed to, "A woman's body is hers to do with as she wants as long as we say it's OK?" How very Orwellian.

So why should the renter be guillotined?

Makes me wish I could turn this into a poll:

If a "very fine person" tosses a moltov cocktail in #2's mom's kitchen and kills #2 and both of his parents would you call on little donnie dollhands to pardon the "very fine person", who, after all, was just doing the good Lord's work.

#5 -- What do firebombing kitchens, self-immolation, parricide, "little donnie dollhands", and a pardon have to do with this topic? Isn't it about a landlord who is asking bi-weekly sex for rent?

Nobody said a woman can't do what she wants. The problem is ------- landlords trying to lure women for free sex.

Hypocritical? Where are YOUR morals?

I thought prostitution was legal in Ireland as it is in most of Europe.

#7 | Posted by Derek_Wildstar What is free about the arrangement? The landlord is giving up a revenue stream by allowing the tenant to occupy the flat. He would do better by renting the area out and going to a brothel with the proceeds.

#3 No, #2 was pointing out hypocrisy, not engaging in it

He could have charged rent and then used said rent to lease a prostitute. Seems like the landlord is just cutting out the middleman.

I construed Ira's post in the same manner as Mustang did.

But OK, let's run with that. By the same token you seem to be saying a woman's body is not hers to do with as she wishes lest she is condemned for them by the likes of you and your ilk.

It works both ways.

BTW, nothing says, "I have no valid rebuttal" like saying, "...move out of his parents' home". Why not add "take your meds". It's on the same intellectual level you seem to operate from.

Again, why do you feel the landlord should be guillotined just because he came to a perfectly legal mutual agreement with another person? And the left calls the right prudes. LOL

My guess is that he could be accused of discrimination for refusing a potential renter for her looks (skin color, weight, etc.) if he did that.

Again, the childish responses "move from your parents' house" and now "your wife is fat"

Prostitution is legal in Ireland, but buying sex is not. Running a brothel is also illegal, so our landlord would be out of luck twice. Three times if she is as JeffJ describes.

#23 | Posted by Foreigner at 2020-01-13 06:50 PM | Reply

This would actually be a great arrangement for a prostitute trying to get out of the business.

How many John's does a hooker have to service in order to pay rent at one of those sleazy rent-the-rooms-by-the-week hotels? I bet it's more than 2. Set up 2 appointments a week (no time wasted hanging out on street corners waiting for the next possible "customer") and the lodging is covered. Surely the accommodations are cleaner and safer and the "work" is certainly safer too - just 1 guy - not a complete stranger who may not only be carrying an STD but also may be looking to cause harm.

MrSilence,

She'd give you a barrel-roll and you'd be flattened like the cat in Tom and Jerry after being run over by a pavement smoother. And if that didn't finish you off she'd drag you into our bed and give you such a nasty Dutch Oven that you'd die of asphyxiation. It would be more brutal than anything Frank Cotton could dole out so I suggest you pick your next words very carefully.

A mattress is one of those things worth paying good money for. When we were newlyweds, my wife made me give up my waterbed. Although we didn't have the money, we spent an outrageous sum of $2,000 for king sized mattress and box springs because she said a cheap mattress wouldn't last.

She was right.37 years later, I am sleeping on the same mattress. It still doesn't sag or have jabbing springs.

Don't be cheap!

It took her a lllooonnnngggg time to waddle from the door to the part of the store where they keep the beds so they got a real good look.

I think the key word is 'buy'. That implies money. Prostituting oneself does not necessarily mean an exchange of money. If you were to Venn Diagram it, buying sex would be a subset of prostitution.
