Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

The final debate before the Iowa caucuses brings new challenges for the Democratic presidential field. ... Polls show a tightly bunched top tier ahead of the February 3 caucuses, with Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, former South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg and former Vice President Joe Biden all with real shots at victory.

Will anyone ask Sanders about the cost of his programs?

The cost of Sanders' agenda would set a peacetime US record
www.cnn.com

"he has faced almost no questions from other candidates or the media -- on the eve of the last debate before primary voting begins -- about how he would implement or finance such a massive increase."

Whose fault is that, CNN?

Bad move by Sanders: he is asked about why he is voting against the trade agreement even if it helps Iowans, and he deflects to slave labor and climate change. When pressed that the AFL-CIO supports the USMCA, he again deflects to climate change.

Warren, at least, recognized the "prompt" in the question and is focusing on Iowans.

What Laura says is true - but it ignore the reality of a two party system in which neither party is willing to tolerate primary challengers for incumbents. Secondly, as seen in CA, term limits don't actually serve their purpose of getting people out of politics and back into the real world. In many ways, they just give the parties more power as the positions are more or less appointed - for instance Harris in CA was basically appointed to every position she ever had - including 69 with married mayor Willie Brown. Term limits don't flush the turds, they just stir the pot. The people just from state leg to state senate to federal to mayor, etc - THEY NEVER LEAVE POLITICS.

Pete needs his own TV show for about 8 years until he becomes so popular with his great voice and personality that he will just win almost automatically by that time despite his demographic drawback.

I recently read The Last Campaign about when Harry Truman ran and won in 1948 and the author made the point that this was the last time when TV advertising was not a deciding factor, but beyond that a candidate henceforth would need an established media presence in the public's mind.

Here is where Biden is showing a huge weakness when he should have spent his WH time becoming visible instead of just riding the train. Did he even write a book? Buttigieg can't win right now but he could someday.

#74 POSTED BY OTTODOG -- what's amazing is that jpw likes to present himself in an almost deiity like status, towering above all us mere mortals who are so intellectually inferior to him.

I'm 64 years old. In my entire life I have never met an intellectual who had to use childish name calling and condescension to make a point. Not a single one. (I'm ignoring that most his posts don't even try to make a point, but just are only to denigrate others)

Seeing as how it is highly unlikely jpw is an exception to this rule, he clearly isn't the monster brained thing he thinks he is and he wants others to visualize him as.

If jpw's intellect was even half what he thinks it is, he would understand this point as clearly as you and I do. The explanation for his type of behavior is a no brainer.

LOL Check's in the mail.

My take.

JPW is intelligent, but near as intelligent as he thinks he is or as intelligent as he wants others to think. He could prove his intelligence by not lowering himself to the levels he does. If scientific notation is indeed necessary to express his intelligence, what is he doing here? That would be like me haunting Zippy the Pinhead corners of cyberspace.

Perhaps zed was at one time, but I think old age has ravaged his brain. (no, not being snarky or mean, just my opinion) Yes, I know he trolls relentlessly, but even his trolling lacks the je ne sais quoi -- spark? -- of higher thought.

Monson -- agree. But I'd drink with him only if he was frisked first.

JPW is intelligent. His problem is he has an itchy trigger-finger, he paints with WAY too broad of a brush and his initial reaction is anger WAY more often that it should be. To his credit, he's capable of flipping the switch very quickly and move from angry lashing out to civil discourse.

Zed is Trump-obsessed to an alarming degree. I don't think he's crazy though and I really do think he ultimately means well. He seems like a decent chap.
