Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell plans to give House impeachment managers and President Donald Trump's legal team each 24 hours divided over two days for their opening arguments in the Senate's impeachment trial, ... a break from the impeachment trial of President Bill Clinton, when the 24 hours were split over a four-day period.

The condensed timeline for opening arguments raises the prospect that the trial will have 12-hour days and go late into the night, as the trial begins at 1 p.m. ET each day.

The Senate will debate and vote on McConnell's resolution on Tuesday, kicking off the trial in earnest after the ceremonial proceedings last week.

Schumer said he would offer amendments on Tuesday "to address the many flaws in this deeply unfair proposal and to subpoena the witnesses and documents we have requested."

"Clinton Impeachment Rules" said Mitch. "That'd be about right" GOP Senators said.

Yeah, sure. SMDH

That's actually good news for Warren, Sanders, and Klobo, who would rather be in Iowa.

Mitch is interestingly assuring Trump's acquittal without his exoneration.

Indeed,he will continue to be seen as illegitimate by anyone not a rank partisan.I personally do not see this "acquittal" helping Trump much at all with the electorate. The more they prop him up the worse the stink of corruption will be.History will not be kind
to trump, miss Lindsey,or any of the other sycophants in Congress for keeping the turd from real accountability.

You have it 100% backwards as usual. THERE IS NOTHING TRUMP CAN SAY/DO where Dems will see him as legitimate - so, he did the smart thing and stopped trying. There are still braindead Dems on here believing the Russia Hoax or the Steele Dossier. When someone is stuck on stupid, facts don't matter so you can either get frustrated trying to appease them or simply ignore them. Nice to see Dems tip America's "Innocent until proven guilty" standard on its head though.

The GOP have no choice but to rush a sham trial and deflect furiously.

Trump is guilty. Witnesses will just hammer home that point.

Trump has to stop the truth or he will die in jail.

I want witnesses. I want the Dem Ukraine and Russia nonsense put on trial. I want all the details about Crackhead Biden being kicked out the military, going on to bang his dead brothers widow before cheating on her and getting a stripper pregnant during one of his many alcohol and coke fueled binges - but yet managing to land a job paying him $83K/month - THAT WE KNOW OF. The Ukraine says they have evidence of Sleepy Joe being on the take for $500K. I think the American people deserve the truth.

Gotta cram the sham hearing through as fast as they can.

" I want all the details about Crackhead Biden being kicked out the military, "

Because that is relevant to Fat Nixon extorting Ukraine how?

You want to add Bubba and Monica to the list too?

" I think the American people deserve the truth."

You don't care about the truth. You only want your biases confirmed.

Maybe because nothing he says is true, accurate or without a personal angle?

You have to be stupid to see him as legitimate, as you were stupid enough to see him as legitimate in 2016 when you voted for him.

Dow up 60%, jobs plentiful, wages rising, no new wars overseas....yeah, a lot to be angry about. Good luck selling that bucket of schiff in 2020.

Yep, McConnell doesn't just want to sweep Trump's crimes under the rug. He wants to bury them six feet deep ASAP.

Maybe this will be the year that the old Clinton era saying, "It's about the economy, stupid" will be retired and replaced with something like, "It's about character" or "It's about the rule of law--no one is above it" or "It's about democracy."

The simple fact of things is that it's Trump the Coward who showed up for impeachment. He's not going to expose ---- about Biden or the Democrats because he's too damned frightened about what people will want to talk about next.

America is still a great country, but not because Donald Trump is wetting his pants again.

#24 | Posted by Zed at 2020-01-21 12:09 PM | Reply

Gee, who could have foreseen that it would now be the Dems complaining about process once impeachment moved to the upper chamber?

But you don't want any details about the crimes committed by the President. You show you true stripes which are so partisan that patriotism got left by the way side.

"On the horizon is an even bigger problem. The full mortgage for the office space of about $1.2 billion becomes due in February 2019. Many real estate experts believe that the mortgage balance exceeds the value of the portion of the property still owned by Kushner, making refinancing a challenge.

Upon entering the White House, Jared Kushner divested the property only in the most technical sense. He "sold" the assets to his brother and a trust controlled by his mother. A lawyer described the transaction to the New York Times as a "shell game."

Now, with Kushner ensconced as a senior adviser in the White House, someone has emerged to bail him and his family out of this mess. The identity of Kushner's white knight is a mystery.

The $1.2 billion bailout
In a filing with the SEC on Friday, Vornado revealed the existence of an extraordinary "handshake" agreement that would not only refinance the $1.2 billion but allow the Kushners to buy out Vornado's portion of the debt. This means the Kushners would once again own the entire office tower and Vornado would own only the retail space."

Makes Biden's income look like chump change but the Useful Idiots don't even notice that.

This impeachment trial is more closely following the precedent set by the Clinton impeachment than the impeachment hearings did (and you had no problem with how Schiff and Pelosi handled that) but now that the GOP is calling the shots it is suddenly unfair.

Got it.

What percentage closer? 1%? .05%

The problem with what Trump is doing here (yes, Trump) is that he prefers a show to exoneration.

Trial in the Senate will not make him less guilty, the way it's structured it will make him seem more guilty than ever.

Failing to remove Trump from office was a foregone conclusion.

A majority of Americans wants witnesses and a fair trial.

The blatant hypocrisy of McConnell, Graham, and the entire GOP process may very well cost them the Senate.

#33 | Posted by AMERICANUNITY at 2020-01-21 10:27 PM | Reply

No one on the left here [or elsewhere] cared when Harry Reid changed Senate rules - until bit them in the ass on the Gorsuch nomination. In this case it is not about change as there are no 'set' rules' as each impeachment is an separate entity.
