And 17 of these US troops are apparently still receiving medical treatment for their injuries, which appears to be more than a simple 'headache'.

So maybe the first thing that needs to happen is Pres Trump admits he was wrong with his glib "diagnosis" of the injuries that the military personnel suffered, and then act against Iran appropriately.

#20 | Posted by snoofy at 2020-01-24 07:02 PM | Reply

Chairborne is right... If you actually did serve you should have more compassion for your fellow troops.

To be clear TBI is a pretty broad term. A concussion is the most mild form. 17 of the injured are likely concussions since they have been released - doesn't mean they are on regular duty. However since 17 of these individuals remain hospitalized that would seem to indicate much more severe injuries. They don't keep people in hospitals at all unless they are bad today.

#21 | Posted by GalaxiePete at 2020-01-24 07:18 PM | Reply

A concussion is the most mild form.

True, and concussions are underrated.
I've helped too many people get through the initial symptoms, repeating themselves, doing the same routines over and over again, walking them through it until I can convince them to go to the hospital with me or a friend. The damage is real and people should know by now can affect you later in life, or even earlier than expected if you keep getting concussions or have particularly bad ones.

When you're younger you just think you can shake it all off. I certainly did, and I did some crazy stuff up into my late 40's. I keep my fingers crossed.

We're not just talking about concussions, though. The speed of the shock wave, the concussive explosion, the instant damage, and the long-term prognosis - including depression, even changes in personality - are nothing to be minimized. Nothing to be trivialized.

That's why I said what I did in #3, and I stand by it.

Lots of weird rumors about the killing of Soleimani.

1) There were revolutions in Iran demanding regime change prior to Soleimani's death.

2) Rumors are Soleimani may have been trying to out the Islamic Regime and working to make Iran more secular.

3) America not only was working with Soleimani to combat ISIS, they were pretty much always aware of where he was.

4) Solimani was killed in Iraq in a convoy. It was a safe, secure location to kill him without too many casualties.

5) Rumors are, Khamenei requested the strike.

6) Rumors are, the Ukrainian Airliner was shot down on purpose to eliminate a specific passenger.

7) Rumor is the "retaliation" by Iran was staged and America was alerted to it.

8) When was the last time Americans, American soil, or an American base was attacked without retaliation?

9) Iran's "retaliation" was absolutely a show of force without any intended casualties. Kinda like when Trump shot missiles into Syria while eating cake with President for life Xi

Of course there were Soleimani slaughtered 1500 just recently.

1500 protesters were slaughter in Iran.

Soleimani didn't have anything to do with it.

2) Rumors are Soleimani may have been trying to out the Islamic Regime and working to make Iran more secular.

Perhaps ... but wasn't getting anywhere.

This isn't a fact, new information, or an real attempt at a response.

3) America not only was working with Soleimani to combat ISIS, they were pretty much always aware of where he was.

So. Why kill him now?

4) Solimani was killed in Iraq in a convoy. It was a safe, secure location to kill him without too many casualties.

It was in Bagdhad, the place he attacked .. what a perfect opportunity, he thought he was invincible.

News flash. Baghdad is in Iraq. He was in a convoy on the way to the airport. They killed him in an isolated location to minimize casualties.

I neve said it didn't hit its intended target. I'm saying it was a show of force.

our great military was aware and took proper precautions.

Is this a prepared statement?

Considering all it's options to retaliate against America for killing their great general. It seems one missile strike, where they end up killing 187 people on a passenger plane. Is an odd choice for Iran.

Rumors are Soleimani may have been trying to out the Islamic Regime and working to make Iran more secular.

My opinion is that this is wishful thinking in hindsight, to support the " Khamenei requested the strike" rumor. I haven't read or seen anything to support this direction of thought, that he was shaping Iran to be more secular in any way.

3) America not only was working with Soleimani to combat ISIS, they were pretty much always aware of where he was.

IMO, more like a coincidence than a collaboration, as Iran wouldn't want ISIS doing ops in their borders. On the other hand, Iran funds militias which attack US forces and their allies..

Looking at the passenger rosters of any missing or shot down civilian airliner is always interesting. Page 1 of my Google search results and a few quick glances at recent news articles, and there's no public list of casualties(!).

To be fair, there was a LOT of overlap between US and Syrian/Russian/Iranian counter-ISIS operations.

Even in Afghanistan, there were times when the Taliban was fighting ISIS...we didn't know what to do.

I was rooting for the Taliban though. I don't like the Taliban...but I would have no moral issues if each and every ISIS member was lined up and shot. They're that bad.
