Actually, a gun is not a very efficient way to defend your home at all. So the ad is a lie.

Well, studies have shown that a gun in the house is more likely to shoot a family member than an intruder.
Not effecient in protecting them.

Cool. The NFL finally got something right.
You may continue now playing the victim card (R)tards....:

The star wars references were over the top.

Righties are such beta p---ies.

In any case, I don't see why the ad should have been rejected. But you guys shouldn't care, they're a private organization and can do what they wish, right?

You're talking about extremely small percentages.

Which is why they're presented relative to each other. Putting it in the broader context wouldn't even register on a graph without a Y axis break.

And BTW, before you accuse me of anything I've always been very much for tightening up laws around "accidental" shootings. The vast vast majority are simple negligence and should be treated as such.

That's a great way to get sued.

If someone breaks into your house, you need to kill them. If you only injure them, they can sue. Which is why a firearm is ideal for home defense.

And with that said, If someone doesn't have the stomach to shoot an intruder, please do not bring a gun into your home. Because there is a chance they will take it from you and kill you.

Gun ownership in rural areas doesn't bother me.. slow response times ect.

But I've lived in large cities my whole life and never need a gun to defend my family.

NFL is a private buisness... do you cry when Fox rejects ads?

Same here, and fortunately, most people don't need one. Nor do most people need a fire extinguisher in their house. But both are invaluable when needed. That's why I keep both.

Home many die each year from a fire extinguisher in the home?
Any other dumb comparisons?

Non that I know of. And it is not a dumb comparison. It's not even a valid one. You should be asking how many people die in home fires a year. (A: about 2,500)

If you have a fire in your house, what do you reach for? If there is an intruder in your house, what do you reach for?

Any more dumb dismissals or logically flawed analogies?

"I have that with a contingency plan... .40 cal"

Decent plan.

Lower muzzle velocity.

I'm not a fan of the long gun defense strategy, just based on the fact that a long gun has too much power.

A Judge or Governor would be a much better choice. Long colt or .410.

- You made the dumb comparison , not me.

When fire extinguishers start killing the people they are meant to protect you can compare the two.

NFL should just make it closed/blind bidding.

These are the slots, the highest bidders win. If the ad is good enough for the FCC, and your check doesn't bounce ...

We run it!

After the game show how much the suckers paid to run their ads.

You still don't get it seeing as to how you keep using flawed logic. Allow me to spell it out for you using fires, extingquishers, bad guys, guns.(we'll call those B (for bad) and Bx (for getting rid of B). Ready?

Both Bs are unexpected. No one expects a fire or an intruder. But if a B situation arises, how do we deal with it? Bx. Extinguisher or gun. If Bx is not used, people can die. In the event of fire in the home, that number was 4,000 The number of home invasions thwarted because of guns (including 'warning shots' without the intent to kill) vary from 250,000 to 2,000,000

Clearly, of the two threats, a home invasion is more likely than a fire and more easily thwarted with Bx.

When fire extinguishers start thwarting what they were intended to thwart approach the numbers of guns thwarting what they were intended to thwart, you have a point. See links in previous post for citations.

Well if guns are thwarting what they're intended to, then you're saying we'd have more than 15,000 gun murders, if guns were not legal.
That's funny.

Fire extinguishers have broken more user's toes per capita than guns.
