Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Saturday, February 01, 2020

The UK has officially left the European Union after 47 years of membership - and more than three years after it voted to do so in a referendum. The historic moment, which happened at 23:00 GMT, was marked by both celebrations and anti-Brexit protests. Candlelit vigils were held in Scotland, which voted to stay in the EU, while Brexiteers partied in London's Parliament Square.

Britain has moved from a first-rate power to a third-rate one. Now let's see how much of their country they lose. Scotland and Northern Ireland, or just one?

The globalist elite got kicked in the nuts by the British working class. It's a beautiful thing. The drive to transnational governance and eventually world government has been put on hold. Greatest thing the British have done since they held out against the Nazis under the leadership of Churchill.

Scotland will join the EU.
Ireland will unite.

England and Wales will wallow in former glory.

#11 - I think that your analysis for Scotland and Ireland is spot on.

You may be wrong with Wales in the slightly longer term; subsequent analysis of the Brexit vote showed that although Wales as a whole voted leave, those of Welsh descent voted remain, with the vote being tipped by the high number of retired English living in Wales and voting leave. Expect the movement for Welsh independence to pick up momentum.

They weren't part of the Schengen Agreement. They don't use Euros.

They were hardly part of the EU to start with.

How you figure?
Seriously, what's the argument here, that this helps the working class, at the expense of global elites?
Or, is it just that at least you got one good kick in, as the global elites return to kicking the working class in the nuts on a daily basis?

You only look at the NOW, you cherry-pick data .. LOL

Working illegally in the UK carries a six month prison term.

That very situation was created in the United Kingdom (UK) when Boris Johnson became the prime minister. One of his campaign promises was to crack down on migration to insure that it is controlled and checked.

Johnson is concerned about the fact that the UK has seen a large number of people coming in from the whole of the European Union (EU) who treat the UK as though it's part of their own country " and there has been no control over their admissions.

Talk about me having no idea ...

Its like you don't even understand how the EU works and what Brexit means FFS.

They can make separate trade agreements and not have EU goods shoved down their throats.

What do you think the French, and Danes are so upset about?

That's an improvement for snoofy. He might be cherry pickng data, but at leat it's data. His usual game is to put words into people's mouths, twist and distort other people's words, assign false positions to people, take words out of context, all of which are actually lies.

So yeah -- feel good he's actually using data, even if it's cherry picked. It's better to debate that than to waste time pointing out his outright lies.

Putting partisanship aside, it is very interesting that places such as Scotland and Northern Ireland strongly opposed this, but that the English overall supported it. My perception is that this is largely much ado about nothing, other than the fact that it may indeed signal the end of the UK as we currently know it. Whatever. The point is, maybe it is mistake to view this event through the lens of wealthy or working class or capitalism and socialism. But rather, it is best understood through the lens of regionalism and cultural identity.

Not at all.

Take your comment about guns:

"approach the numbers of guns thwarting what they were intended to thwart" drudge.com

Well if guns are thwarting what they're intended to, then you're saying we'd have more than 15,000 gun murders, if guns were not legal.

No words put in your mouth.
Just understanding the words coming out.

What you twist and distort into your understanding never matches what I say. Rather than changing words, understand them as I say them, not as you twist them. I say what I mean and no translation or interpretation or putting into new words is necessary. Ever. Learn this, snoofy.

I said there's 15,000 gun murders a year.

Now you're on day three of pretending you can't connect the dots.
