Truly a shameful moment for Trump but much more so for all the other people like Vindman, who served his country dutifully and was treated horribly now for simply being truthful, which was his duty.

Vindman would be smart to just take another position, which it seems the DOD will see to.

Vindman needs to just let this speak for itself.

Why work for a man like Trump? He's the antithesis of what it is to hold the highest office.

Vindman will become a thorn in Trump's side like nothing else.

He is now free to gather as many witnesses as is needed for the next impeachment.

Oh c'mon, give a girl a break. She said she REALLY REALLY hoped he would.

He'll be on CNN tonight! Then write a book! Give me a freaking break! Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

You can bet your ass that the minute Trump was acquitted he told his people at the White House to retaliate against every single person they could. He's probably hounding every dirtbag he knows to cook something up against Romney.

Can't be any worse than what the MSM dug up on him in '12.

He hazed a kid in High School. He put his dog on the roof of his car. He caused a woman to get cancer and die. I doubt anything Trump's goons manage to dig up can even come close to that level of depravity.

Just read that Vindman's twin brother, who was also an Army lieutenant colonel working at the White House, was fired and escorted out at the same time.

Sondland out too

Ambassador Gordan Sondland is out now too.

Retaliation against a witness is a federal crime. Well, it used to be.

#19 | Posted by Derek_Wildstar at 2020-02-07 07:28 PM | Reply

Gordan Sondland. Look at this gem.

Gave a million dollars to Trump...essentially buying his way in. And knew all the time what was going on, and it wasn't right.

In the end? Trump stays, Sondland fired, and Trump keeps the $1 million.

Couldn't be any more true, everthing Trump touches dies.

Careful, you could be next.

"LTC Vindman was asked to leave for telling the truth," his attorney David Pressman said in a statement. "The truth has cost LTC Alexander Vindman his job, his career, and his privacy."

The truth is dangerous in a world of deceit and lies.

Trump. Like all dictators. Values liars and yes men.

www.law.cornell.edu

An individual, except the President, elected or appointed to an office of honor or profit in the civil service or uniformed services, shall take the following oath: "I, AB, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God." This section does not affect other oaths required by law.

(Pub. L. 89"554, Sept. 6, 1966, 80 Stat. 424.)

Vindman upheld his oath of office. Those that condemn him do so for partisan reasons. FULL STOP.

Trump also fired his twin brother, who had zero to do with anything.

Obviously, this is payback........no other way to look at it.

Legal I suppose, but again.........loathsome behavior.

Hilary called Trump's followers deplorable. Well...she should have just stuck that moniker on him. Brutal.

@#28 ... Legal I suppose, but again.........loathsome behavior. ...

The Trump administration seems to be quite focused upon pushing the limits of legality in many areas, regardless of the egregiously hideous behavior involved.

During the summer of 2016, I expressed my concern about how the Country would look after Election Day.

I am now concerned how the Country will look after Pres Trump leaves the Oval Office.

What legacy will he leave behind?

Will it be one of an Executive branch with extreme power, i.e., a dictatorship?

That seems to be what Pres Trump is trying to construct.....

"This is just the start.":

Walter Shaub @waltshaub (former Director of @OfficeGovEthics)

We're in the heads-on-pikes phase of burgeoning authoritarianism:

- Trump is going after witnesses for testifying to Congress
- Trump and his allies are going after Romney
- Senators, with help from Trump's Treasury Dept., are going after Trump's political rival and his son

2/

- Senators are preparing to go after the whistleblower
- DHS is going after New York
- Barr is investigating DOJ employees for investigating Trump
- Barr issued a policy requiring DOJ investigations of Trump or his political rivals to go through Barr

This is just the start.

Well, we know from Trump's own lips how much he admires dictators like Putin and Kim Jong-un who he has called "strong leaders":

Tony Schwartz, who co-authored The Art of the Deal with Trump, said his acquittal has greatly increased the chance that the president will use the power of the federal government to retaliate against those who have spoken out against him.

"At the moment of his acquittal ... the possibility or even probability that he would be positioned to do terrible things to exact revenge and to punish his enemies escalated," Schwartz said. "I think of myself along with other people who've spoken out consistently against him as being incredibly vulnerable."

Schwartz said he worries that a newly emboldened Trump could take a page from Richard Nixon's playbook and use agencies like the IRS to target people like him, or worse.

"What I'd really worry about is that he rounds up his enemies. He finds a pretext to use law enforcement to arrest them. It's what autocrats do," he said. "They go after their enemies by using their power over law enforcement to arrest them even if on false grounds and imprison them. And I think Trump is every bit as capable of doing that if he believes he can get away with it as Putin, or Kim Jong-un, or any dictator or autocrat is."

Trump, through his lackeys in Congress, are going after Intelligence Community IG as well:

They are basically punishing every perceived enemy, i.e., everyone who upheld their oaths to the Constitution, followed their consciences and told the truth, and so are deemed insufficiently loyal to the president.

He was most likely the one to leak the call and spin to Eric "the whistleblower " Ciarmella. POTUS has no duty to keep those seeking to undermine him in posts at the White House. He still has a job with the DoD. Good luck in your greener pastures Messrs. Vindman.
