The greenhouse effect was first shown to be caused by CO2 in 1823 by Fourier. But burning fossil fuels wasn't linked to a warmer climate until 1898. This roughly brackets the era in which we gained a good theoretical understanding of how the steam engine worked. So human caused climate change isn't rocket science, it's steam engine science. The experiments that Fourier did can easily be replicated by a high school physics class today.

Stephen Hawking says we're in danger of turning this planet into a place that won't support human life. The fossil fuel industry would like you to believe that Fourier made mistakes that Hawking and the scientists who sent that probe to Pluto haven't been able to figure out. Anyone who tries to make you believe that better be able to show you a Nobel Prize in physics.

Will House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy lead his constituents to an understanding that climate change in a genuine problem? Or will he lead them to mankind's eventual demise?

It should be fun to watch him walk that fence.

Change is HARD,and SCARY, what if it costs a lot of money? What if all the changes don't even help? Maybe we should do NOTHING,its a lot cheaper and less disruptive for everyone. Let's just kick back and hope for the best. Which in this case would probably be Mass death and HUMAN EXTINCTION. The living Earth will thank us for our inertia.
