These two are my oldest and youngest sons. Very proud of them.

Hopefully a few will listen to this.

Thank you

I will check it out. Thank you!

These are some crazy numbers.

The podcast has more information and context than I've come across in my previous readings on this.

The local nature of this issue is fascinating. I believe women physicians prescribe more opioids than male physicians.

I don't understand the episode naming. It's a phone number?

#5 | Posted by BruceBanner at 2020-02-18 09:40 AM | Reply

Are their voices really so different? Or is one brother upping the bass on his mic?

#6 | Posted by BruceBanner at 2020-02-18 09:45 AM | Reply

Their voices sound exact to me.

Bruce, the description explains the phone number in the episode name.

"This week we take a look into the opioid epidemic. If you or anyone you know is suffering from addiction, please contact the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services hotline at 1-800-662-4357."

Ah. I just hit play. The fatherhood episode is good too.

Their voices are so different to me! It's so interesting you said that. Did you listen to the episode? Or you're saying that from your real life experience?

#9 | Posted by BruceBanner at 2020-02-18 10:22 AM | Reply

No. I listened to it last night. They told me they were going to make it last friday and they sent me the link last night. They're in the Seattle area. I'm in St. Louis. I was saying their voices sound exactly like them in the podcast.

I liked the fatherhood one too. When I heard this one about the opioid crisis I knew I needed to share it.

Very Carefully. And with an international, military effort.

Honestly, thank you those of you who gave time to listen. I'm proud of my kids, not because they do pod casts, but because they have taken the time to do something meaningful and informative.

I haven't had an opportunity to listen yet but I will. Seriously looking forward to it and I'll give my 2 cents - that's all it's worth coming from me - immediately after. Hopefully tonight.

Thank you Jeff. I think you've got more than 2-cents worth but that's just me.

#17 | Posted by lfthndthrds at 2020-02-18 07:19 PM | Reply

Is there a transcript of it? I've never listened to a podcast.

Lft,

I will listen to it this evening. I promise you that.

Talked to my son. There's no "official" transcript but if you'd like he will send his notes along with all his sources for the numbers. You can verify everything like that if you want. I told him to send it over. I'll email it to you in a day or so.
I'm headed to Davenport, IA in the morning so give me a little lead...

I emailed the particulars to you, Goatman. There's no "transcript" but I sent you his notes and source links.

Thanks. If it has podcast info, I'll make it my first.

I just finished listening to it.

Very impressive.

Coming in I knew very little about the opiod problem in this country and this was extremely educational and, quite frankly shocking. Some of the numbers were staggering.

Your boys conducted a professional podcast, Lft. It's obvious you are proud and you should be.

Thank you for sharing this with the DR. I learned a lot in just over a half hour.

I listened to it last night when I couldn't sleep. Interesting and very informative/educational without being stuffy and heavy-handed. Also, on a more personal note, I liked the easy camaraderie between your two sons.

Thanks for listening, Jeff. Yes, they make me proud. They are super good boys and I'm thankful for them.

I sent Goat the notes and sources and I can send them to you if you want to check them out.

Have a good evening.

I did too. Made me think of my own boys who have a very good brotherly relationship.

That was very obvious to me even in the few hours I spent with your family.

You know all of the names but this is the internet so I'll just use pronouns - a couple of weeks ago my oldest had a symphony concert. It was the most enjoyable collection of pieces I've heard yet since he's been at college. This weekend they are traveling to Chicago to perform the same ensemble. My wife and I decided we will go and watch (we will be staying at our niece's apartment, so no hotel fare) it again. In the second piece he has 2 difficult solos and knocked them out of the park a couple of weeks ago. My youngest has a quiz bowl tournament this weekend (usually they are out of state but this one is close by) so he'll stay with his grandparents.
