You might think it's not too big of an ask to see comprehensive medical records from Sen. Bernie Sanders, the 78-year-old potential president who suffered from a heart attack just months ago, especially as he promised "full disclosure" of his medical history in an interview last year.

During an interview on Feb. 9 on NBC's "Meet the Press" with Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), Chuck Todd played a clip of the presidential hopeful last September, before his heart attack, promising to release his medical records before "the first votes are cast" in the Democratic primaries. "The American people have the right to know whether the person they're going to be voting for for president is healthy," Mr. Sanders said at the time. "And we will certainly release our medical records before the primaries."

ALL of the candidates should have long since provided voters with this information.
If I can be of service, please let me know.

Is Asking for Bernie's Health Records a Smear' ?!?

No.

In an interview with CNN's New Day on Wednesday morning, the campaign's national press secretary, Briahna Joy Gray, compared requests for Sanders' full medical records to the birtherism attacks volleyed at former President Barack Obama.

No.

Bernie needs to give them. Of course, Trump needed to give them.

Yes.

PS Time for Bernie to get a new, better, national press secretary.

Bernie has been practicing his push-ups and will be ready for a test of endurance at tonight's debate. In addition, he has registered to be a participant in the next CrossFit games.

Bernie seems to have concluded that the blowback from not releasing the records isn't as bad as what's in them - or at least how they could be latched onto and misrepresented by disingenuous people like Trump.

That said, i'd take 1 year of Bernie being president over 4 years of any other candidate. I realize most people don't feel that way though.

"That said, i'd take 1 year of Bernie being president over 4 years of any other candidate. I realize most people don't feel that way though."

This is why Bernie needs to make an exceptional VP pick, someone people can see replacing him as President should the unthinkable happen. The same goes for all the candidates, but with the older ones like Bernie and Biden this is especially true.

Interestingly, there are HIPPA privacy laws.

Having said that, running for President of the USA is would be the type of position you want to know the health of your choice!!

And all US Presidents I believe have released it (even Trump).

Of course, releasing your tax returns is common policy but Trump refuses that, and the reason is obviously a lie.

Welcome to Politics in the era of Trump.

Bernie's doc should say that Bernie is in better health than Trump. You can't disprove that without an independent evaluation of health records from both of them.

We already know that Trump's docs lied at least once on their reports.

#14 CS, no, one has been duped. This isn't mis/disinformation. This is a problem that Bernie created for himself. After his heart attack in an attempt to reassure voters that he was indeed healthy enough to be president, he over-promised and so now it looks like he is under-delivering:

After he had a heart attack in October, Bernie Sanders said he would release comprehensive' medical records. But he has not done so.

Mr. Sanders had said in October as he was recovering from his heart attack that he would release his medical records by the end of the year, saying that they would be "comprehensive." Letters from doctors are not the same as full medical records.

"I'm pretty sure you need the long form."

That's what Bernie promised when he was recovering from his heart attack and was afraid voters would think he wasn't up to the job due to health considerations. He has thought better of that promise and now wishes he hadn't made it. Fair enough. But don't call it mis/disinformation.

"We have released, I think ... quite as much as any other candidate has. We released two rather detailed letters from cardiologists and we released a letter that came from the head of the U.S. Congress medical group, the physicians there. So I think we have released a detailed report, and I'm comfortable with what we have done," he said.

thehill.com

Perhaps there something else to be learned from the Medical Records.

Perhaps the head of the U.S. Congress medical group isn't a good enough source to ascertain his health.

Perhaps the change in decision to release his Medical Records and instead release doctors letters is concerning to those looking for fault.

Who knows.

Bernie is still a better choice for the Democratic Party than Bloomberg, and unfortunately for Buttigeig, Warren and the rest of the pack, they're falling behind.

I'm still willing to vote for any candidate other then Bloomberg.

I'd prefer Biden to Bloomberg.

Hillary released a letter from her doctor. Ditto Trump. So letters have been done before. Should that change? After Trump's fake doctor letter, many Democrats thought so:

"I think we should be transparent, especially living in the Trump era," Mr. Buttigieg said, in an interview with MSNBC. "We've got to do better. I would look to the Obama standard of releasing not just a letter from a doctor, but actual results from a physical. That's what we're planning to do, and I think every candidate should hold themselves to that same standard."

#28 Do you think his doctors are lying?

I get that Bernie is going back on his word and that it arouses suspicion. But what he has released shows two different doctors (one of whom has treated him for 29 years) saying his heart functioning has improved and appears to be normal and stable.

What do you hope to glean from these records? Do you think the doctors are lying?

Btw our current "president" is a fast food binging, stumbling, mumbling 73 year old who very well may have one foot in the grave. His backup is Mike ------- Pence. I'll take Bernie for a year and whoever he selects as VP over this travesty of an administration 7 days a week.

"What do you hope to glean from these records? Do you think the doctors are lying?"

People tend to be cynical, wary and suspicious, and more so in the age of Trump. Would you trust the word of Biden's physician of 29 years? How about Bloomberg's? Would Bernie's doctor of 3 decades really want to be the one who says, "Sorry, but Bernie's heart/health is shaky?" Hopefully he would, and hopefully Bernie has at least another 10 good years ahead of him. All things being equal, the word of the other physician is probably seen as more objective, and records would be seen as the most objective of all. Yes, records, too, could be doctored. No, I don't think Bernie would do that, but I believe Trump would.

Doesn't matter. He promised to release them, now he is reneging. If you can't keep a promise, don't make it. Republicans don't mind liars representing them. In fact, they seem to prefer it. Looks like Bernie is running in the wrong primary. He seems to be a much better fit for conservatives.

GtBritishskull "Doesn't matter. He promised to release them, now he is reneging." He has released them over and over so I have not a clue what you people are on about. He talked about how many times he has last night in the debate and mentioned that 2 cardiologist will back him up and the hospital where he received his stint. Another non issue to try to derail the man and it stinks to high heaven when people believe this BS.

#40 | Posted by tknees at 2020-02-20 05:46 PM | Reply

I agree with GTBrit.

Bernie has not been completely open. In fact, when speaking of his medical records, I heard him say "I've done enough."

That tells me that there's more he doesn't want us to know . . . or worse yet, more that he thinks we don't have the right to know . . . or doesn't want the opposition to know.

Trump would beat him to a bloody pulp anyway over this "Socialist" nonsense.

So, scratch Bernie. Next, scratch Bloomberg. (Warren done blew him off the map.)

Now, with the probability that Pete and Amy are going to run out of money, our choices are Warren and Biden to clinch the nomination.

That's my view in a thimble.

#41 | Posted by Twinpac at 2020-02-21 06:00 AM | Reply

Bloomberg's chances have gone up post-debate. Warren's has gone down.

The only thing Warren did was deliver some amazing sound bites that are going to be played on loop by Republicans.

Am I convinced his doctors have lied? Yes.

Trump's people raided his former doctor's office to take his medical records. The White House admitted it.
abcnews.go.com

In addition, that doctor said Trump would be the healthiest president ever elected before this happened.

So do I think his doctor lied when they said he would be healthiest president ever elected? Absolutely.

Now his latest physical provided just a one page letter saying a president who is 73, medically obese, and lives on fast food is in perfect health. Of course, they released no records showing anything.

So yeah, I don't believe his doctors.
