I expected a lawsuit against the company, but not the dead pilot's surviving wife and kids.

They should be left alone in this considering they just lost a father, husband, and more than likely major bread winner of the family. Mrs. Bryant succeeds in suing the pilot's estate equates to plundering the wealth of a fatherless family, potentially putting them in the streets.

Indeed, classy. /s

She might have at least waited until the day after the memorial.

I guess gold diggers gotta dig.

Are they still milking his corpse?

No doubt, unless shes going to donate.

More than that, if he refused, he would have been sent down to the minors ...

Kobe etal wanted to go ... pretty much ends the discussion given the amount of money they were paying.

He would have been out of a job.

Agree. She should donate the money to charity. She obviously will not be hurting financially ever in her life

She's just getting ready to Feel the Bern.

The article doesn't mention anything about suing the pilot, just the company. The pilot was an idiot for continuing VFR flight in those conditions.

The company will fold so she won't get much.

Insurance will still be on the hook. The helicopter alone was worth $14 million.

This was a tragedy and not just because it was Kobe Bryant and his daughter... There were several other people killed. In all honesty - I think pretty much anyone would sue. Kobe Bryant wasn't just a basketball figure he was an enterprise - what was his income potential? Michael Jordan is still bringing in cash in a big way. I am sure he had lawyers who his wife is relying on. I am sure they went after the pilot's estate as well since this certainly appears to be pilot error. Better to move now as this will take years to be settled in all likelihood.

That said I wouldn't have chose to go after the pilot's family unless there is insurance money to be collected and even then...

All this over a sport where all you need to do is jump up and down like a monkey. Never quite understood this game.

Jesus, what a drama queen. This is an insurance case. The personal assets of the pilot's family will not be at risk. SMDH
