Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Wednesday, February 26, 2020

If this field remains splintered, the Democrats will soon find it's Sanders or nobody: Either Sanders wins the nomination outright or comes close enough that his angry supporters torpedo the nominee, assuring Trump's victory. If Tuesday night's dynamic holds, Democrats are on their way to opposing Trump with a 78-year-old socialist who recently suffered a heart attack, who has had nice things to say about nasty regimes around the word, and who has a $60 trillion spending plan without the means to pay for it.

I've been saying Bernie is looking more and more like a leftist Trump.

People only laugh and say "yeah sure".

The pundit class is getting upset because no one is listening to their pontifications. I listened to Bernie last night and found most of what he said to be exactly what we need to do. I'm not young either. Sanders is appealling to a far broader range of voters than any of these has-been pundits recognizes, they still don't realize that in today's politics, they are irrelevant. Nobody cares what they think.

"they seem to be working overtime making sure that if Bernie wins the nomination, he goes into the general as already battered and bruised as possible."

I think that in traditional political terms that is probably true but Bernie is not a traditional candidate and his performance at a debate is not going to swing voters away from him nor to him. Bernie actually stands for things that most voters want and the rest of the candidates mostly have excuses why we can't have those things. People are fed up with traditional politicians, Bernie will the nomination if he is treated fairly by the party and he will win the election unless Republicans get even better at cheating.

#5 | Posted by danni at 2020-02-26 09:50 AM | Reply | Newsworthy 3

In '16 the Republicans said, "If Trump wants to stand on the stage with our qualifed candidates, we'll let him."
Then they said, "----, the people like him, even better than the empty suits we're pushing. Surly his coarse and non PC talk will doom him before election day".
And they hated him, but he won.
If the Dems don't think Bernie is electable, or if they don't want him to be the face of the party, they better ditch him soon. Otherwise, hitch him to the wagon and let the games begin.

When I said "the rest of the candidates" I should have excluded EW from that group. She supports mostly the same things Bernie does and I would be happy to vote for her if she is the nominee. The rest of those people wouldn't excite me at all though I will still vote blue no matter who.

"#3 - they seem to be working overtime making sure that if Bernie wins the nomination, he goes into the general as already battered and bruised as possible."

That's incontrovertible at this point. It's because they don't really have a problem with Trump beyond the embarrassing things he says. He's great for their ratings. Millionaire newscasters and their corporate masters don't really GAF about the issues facing most of America beyond it being fodder for an intellectual exercise. Hell, they still haven't come to terms with how their coverage of 2016 made his election possible.

Oh look. Doc's back with another attack thread on Bernie.

Hey Doc. We did it your way in 2016 and look at where it got us.

Care to explain why Bernie won the first three primaries? A historic first for either party. Not even queen Hillary managed that.

But. Let's put that behind us.

Doc. Question for you. Why are you so intent on splitting up the Democratic Party? Revenge for Hillary? Or just blind devotion to moderate democrats?

There are Chesterson Fences Sanders proposes just tearing out, without a framework or time to make appropriate transition, things take time He says we don't have time, I would say he doesn't have time.

I just don't where some people get the idea that Sanders is a person "who's selfishness knows no end". What is possibly selfish about wanting to help all working class Americans? I mean, I guess if you are a billionaire and you don't want to share any money then yeah, Sanders is maybe "selfish". But other than that he is one of the least selfish candidates we have ever had.

Bernie is a pol, one who has spouted pretty much the same Sixties rhetoric for the last fifty years or so. There's nothing inherently wrong with that. But to see him as a vanguard is, really, sad.

You should get out more.

1) "Bernie is a pol, one who has spouted pretty much the same Sixties rhetoric for the last fifty years or so."

It's refreshing to see a person with integrity who's opinions don't "evolve" to please whoever needs to be lied to.

2) Free stuff is being given out by the government all the time. Like unnecessary tax breaks for the rich and subsidies for their companies.

FoxCONN is a great example of a wealthy company getting free taxpayer money for no reason.

Our taxes being used to help our lives isn't "free stuff". I'd rather have government healthcare than give my tax money away to the rich.

I think Warren would be a better President, but Bernie has a better chance of winning.

The two together is traditionally too "northeastern" for a national ticket, but who can say.

I remember when Sarvis was ridiculing Corky for his panting over his "earth mother,"--in Sarvis's words--Hillary Clinton, in 2008. Good times.

Uh, actually, no. Why on earth would I be prowling around on my user page? And rooting in detritus from 12-years ago? Wow, every-step-you-take stuff, eh?

Anyway, that was then and this (hold on, it may be news) is now. There've been a few things going on, a bit of water over the dam. The whole Obama thing, the rise of Trumpf, a huge boatload of other stuff. Times passes, things change, and the band moves on. For most of us.

"You got to FEEL THE BERN ,DUDE."

I've been burned before. Thanks for the offer, though.

"You seem lost?"

I don't follow right or left wing media.

" Your metaphors are revealing. "

Then why did you ask "what watery abyss is that" as a response to my metaphor?

Three strikes -- you're out.
