After railing for years against the "Deep State" and the "Russia Hoax," the president is on his way to getting the docile intelligence community he's always wanted.

Director of National Intelligence Maguire "learned about his firing from reporters reaching out for comment before publication, and had to call the national security adviser to confirm that he'd been replaced by Grenell."

I Helped Create the Nation's Top Spy Job. It's About to Be Destroyed. A Trump appointment presages a purge at our intelligence agencies. By Jane Harman

"A so-called house clearing could damage our intelligence abilities for at least a generation."

Ms. Harman was a lead author of the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004, which created the director of national intelligence position.

An authoritarian businessman who is used to being surrounded by yes men should never be the choice to lead a nation.

This is endangering us all.

I can understand an incompetent person getting appointed by a totalitarian wannabe President but what I can't understand is, after he has heard the criticisms of his appointment, he still accepts it. Piece of crap in my book working for a bigger piece of crap.

Comey, Clapper, Brennon abused their powers. They were accountable to no one and they took advantage of it. It needs to stop so it doesn't happen in the future.

#6 - Trump's DOJ, the most political and corrupt DOJ in memory, doesn't even agree with you.

#6 Rogers,

Can we please add a "Dumber than Dirt" or an "Alternative Fact" flag? I would flag as offensive but I'm not easily triggered like a GOP snowflake.

When I think of Trump "tightening his grip on intelligence" the image goes through my head of a little boy squeezing sand in his clenched fist as it slips through his little fingers, leaving him with nothing.

Bernie and Trump align on this issue. They both want the intelligence community shushed until they win potus.

"If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State."

Oh nooooooo...what will partisan haters do with their lives if they don't have ammunition to use to spread hate? Oh noooooo....

But technically, doesn't Trump have to be holding some kind of intelligence first to be able to grip it?

You idiots had us invade Iraq over yellow cake uranium because you let a VP make up fake intelligence and ignore the actual intelligence community.
You idiots had us completely unprepared for Iraq because you listened to a political appointee tell you we'd be greeted as liberators rather than military intelligence who warned you occupation would be costly.
I could go on like ignoring intelligence on creating ISIS by firing 80% of the Iraqi army, ignoring intelligence warning of threats from Al Qaeda, ignoring intelligence on North Korea's missile program plans continuing despite Trump's trip, ignoring intelligence on Russia's continued interference in the election, etc.

When you choose "Yes" men over actual facts from the intelligence community, you screw the country. You aren't even trying to ignore intelligence now. You idiots are actually trying to get rid of it.

He will leave office when he loses the election. He may squawk and kick up dust, but at heart, the man is a simple coward.

I fully expect him to have his personal plane set to have a Moscow heading on it, so the minute he leaves the whitehouse he is directly headed to the Kremlin to be reunited with a Daddy Vlad.
