Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

MSNBC's Joe Scarborough likened Senator Bernie Sanders' praise of Cuban dictator Fidel Castro's literacy programs to someone who would praise Italian dictator Benito Mussolini for his punctual trains. "That's like saying Mussolini had the trains running. 'Have you seen the trains?' While people are up on meat hooks all lined up behind the train," the Morning Joe host said Tuesday.

"[Castro] had a literacy regime. But he also had a regime who tortured Catholics, tortured people who worshipped God in a way he didn't like, tortured students that had newspapers, kept people locked up for years, killed people," Scarborough continued. "You cannot talk about Fidel Castro's literacy program, and you shouldn't be able to without talking about the long laundry list of evils committed by Fidel Castro against his own people over decades." "He is defending this and doubling down in 2020. That ain't cool with South Carolina voters. That ain't cool with Democrats," he said.

After watching Bernie double down last night, Joe's not wrong.

Meanwhile, Cheatolini and his goons are taking notes.

It's funny how progressives who used to fawn over communist regimes are now talking like anti-communists. All to take down Sanders.

That was definitely not a good moment for Bernie.

""You cannot talk about Fidel Castro's literacy program, and you shouldn't be able to without talking about the long laundry list of evils committed by Fidel Castro against his own people over decades."

Which both Bernie and Obama did do when they commented on the literacy program. Selective listening causes pompous asses like Scarborough to say things that may not impress those who bother to find out what Sanders and Obama really did say.

"Senator Sanders's parroting Castroite propaganda about Communist Cuba's supposed successes in literacy and health care are hardly without precedent. The New York Times's infamous Walter Duranty reportage was straight-up Soviet propaganda. Lincoln Steffens's celebration of Soviet life " "I have seen the future, and it works!" " required a measure of willful blindness. The New Republic at times functioned as a gentle apologist for Stalin and Stalinism. Noam Chomsky and Pol Pot, the American Left and Ho Chi Minh, the American Left and Chairman Mao, the American Left and Castro, the American Left and Hugo Chavez, the European Left and the Ayatollah Khomeini, knucklehead campus dopes and Che Guevara, etc.-- the pattern repeats itself. There is a streak of Leninism that runs from the Soviet enterprise through Mao's China and into the ayatollahs' Iran. But what Lenin's revolution really has in common with Mao's and with Khomeini's is that each of those ultimately was directed at the same enemy: us.

Looks like Bernie's "Obama said it so it's okay" spin hit its intended target.

"If there are crack addicts in Los Angeles, it must be that the CIA was behind it." So now the right blames the user not the supplier of the drugs. Its well established the CIA screwed over the DEA to sell Arms for cocaine in central america. Its not a leftest fantasy as the article nulli leans on implies.

Castro did make it possible for Cuba to produce a lot of good doctors, they ARE the most literate society on Earth. Truths can be hard to face. Americans are so brainwashed. The US imprisions more people than any other country. Our human rights record is not ALL THAT either. We invaded IRAQ in an unprovoked war of aggression. Has CUBA invaded ANYONE EVER? DUH? Why do Americans NEVER see the hypocracy of they're ridiculous self righteousness?
