Brigham Young University in Utah reiterated Wednesday that "same-sex romantic behavior" is not allowed on campus -- dashing the hopes of LGTBTQ students who thought they could be more open after the college previously revised its code of conduct.

It's a shame that there are deviants at BYU who get their kicks policing the sex lives of adults.

You thought the polygamy was supposed to be for the wives?

#4 | Posted by ClownShack at 2020-03-05 06:44 PM | Reply

Polygamy is about continuing the Patriarchy and about the power and wealth of the man. If a man owns one wife he is seen as less powerful than the man who owns nine wives. The more property you own the higher your rank is in the church.

Any male who is well-dressed and has a clean dorm room, or any female with a pair of workboots are automatically on academic probation.

Just what I thought,

I bunch of people who dont have religion complaining about a religious, private school.

I thought the LDS were known for their same sex edict. Same sex over and over and over. The breed like rabbits.

thats a fact.

BYU is a private institution, owned by the LDS. I personally think their doctrines and history starting with Joseph Smith are an embarrassment to any sane individual. But this is a free country, You can believe any crazy thing you like and if a private Institution wants to exclude homosexuals, it is their right to do so. This ban does not exclude gay/trans/lesbian students from receiving an education, there are secular universities in Utah.

BYU has a good art department. I will give them that. I have seen some good talent get shaped there. I also knew an artist who quit the first semester after attending his first "rootbeer kegger" party. He moved back home and went to Long Beach State... seems he found Utah too...erm... rigid.

"But this is a free country"

If this is a free country, then why doesn't that freedom extend to BYU campus?

#17 | Posted by snoofy at 2020-03-07 01:34 PM | Reply

Truly wondering what your concept of freedom is, Docnjo.
You're free... to follow BYU's rules while on BYU property?
Where's the "free country" part have any impact on our lives?

#18 | Posted by snoofy at 2020-03-07 02:02 PM | Reply

#18 | Posted by snoofy, If you enroll in BYU, you agree to obey their rules. It is not required for anyone to go to that private institution. I would not. Hint, it has a department of American pre-history that uses the book of Mormon as a reference. I doubt Mormon doctrine extends to math, chemistry or physics, but Joseph Smith declared that the moon was inhabited by people who dressed like Quakers. Maybe their astronomy courses are suspect too.

#19 | Posted by docnjo Only the dead or those who have nothing to loose are so free. There is always someone who will tell you what to do or what not to do.

#20 | Posted by docnjo at 2020-03-07 04:39 PM | Reply

So it's an unfree institution, and it being in a free country means nothing.

So what I'm trying to figure out is what difference does it make that ass in a free country why'd you even bring that up thanks

#21 | Posted by snoofy I gave up most of my civil rights for a few decades, but I chose to be in the service, I knew that that was a requirement. BTW, name any school in America that does not have rules/standards of behavior. At least BYU does not have penalties for using the wrong pronouns.

Since this no sex rule for same sex couples is cool with some people because freedom....
would these same people complain if a private school banned all sex by Christians?
In my opinion, its the same.... a violation of privacy.

"BTW, name any school in America that does not have rules/standards of behavior."

America itself has rules/standards of behavior too.
So since you're saying the schools aren't free, then why can't you see America isn't free?

#25 | Posted by snoofy, I have learned to dislike the word freedom. Governments do not make freedom, that is oxymoron. To govern is to control. I like the word liberty. The concept of liberty is that a government has to have the consent of the governed and it is restricted on the scope of it's activity. Review the Constitution.

#27 | Posted by TaoWarrior Define the word, does your definition mean freedom from accountability? That does not exist. Does it mean that people will not judge you? You delude yourself. Does you chosen identity and belief system give you special protection under the law? That is fundamentally wrong, It does run counter to the concept of equal justice under the law. Liberty is a better word, it implies the restraint of authority. Review the Scottish Enlightenment, such as David Hume, Adam Smith and Joseph Black. How important are these old white guys? They were the source of the Constitution. They were what the writers of the constitution knew and agreed with.
