The Italian government first imposed a national lockdown on March 9, but health experts say their delayed response had fatal consequences. On Saturday, Italy's number of coronavirus-related deaths surged by 627 -- the largest single day of fatalities recorded in any country in the world, including China.

You can't expect a quarantine to work until at least 2 weeks, 3 weeks to be safe, after it's been implemented.

But yes, that's why the earlier response would have been better all around.

... delayed response had fatal consequences ...

Make me wonder what will be the ramifications of, e.g., Rep Nunes' statements about continuing to go out, and Pres Trump's misinformation last month about the virus.

Those gentlemen are goopers, so there will be no ramifications, downside, consequences, or costs, at least among their fanboys.

For those nice folks, the more librals that die, the better.

While I suspect your comment is correct, I was thinking about the ramifications of their misinformation in making the current crisis much worse than it might have been had, e.g., Pres Trump acted sooner instead of misinforming people.

How many additional Americans will be getting sick, possibly dying, because of Pres Trump's misinformation in his tweets and from the White House podium?

(If)

"Trump acted sooner instead of misinforming people."

I see all over the place that desperate Trumpsters are already trying to deny and deflect and pretend that never happened.

It was China. It's all their fault! They touched it last!

Also.

Obama's Fault.

Somehow.

(And don't forget to lock up Hillary!).

It is not unreasonable to expect a President of the United States to be able to respond to a crisis in an appropriate manner, even if that crisis is externally caused.

Pres Trump severely let down a Country that relies upon him to react to a crisis in an appropriate manner, and not to spout misinformation from the White House podium and other official White House communication channels.

I can see why some want to deflect to China. Pres Trump's response was abysmal, and it most likely caused or will cause deaths of Americans on American soil.

I wish they would quit saying how many people died in China. The only information coming out from China is from their government which is as big a liar the Orange Ape we have bringing out country to it's knees as I type.
